Texas has played a crucial role in SpaceX’s growth, offering business-friendly policies that have benefited Elon Musk’s ventures, including Tesla and SpaceX. Alongside its Starship development efforts, SpaceX operates a major satellite manufacturing facility in Bastrop, Texas. Now, the state government has further strengthened its partnership with the company. Governor Greg Abbott recently announced a $17.3 million grant to support the expansion of the Bastrop complex, funding that comes from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund.
Celebrating the milestone, SpaceX shared on X:
"To meet the growing global demand for high-speed internet, @Starlink is expanding its factory in Bastrop, Texas."

This expansion will significantly enhance SpaceX’s satellite production capacity. Currently, the company manufactures approximately 15,000 Starlink dishes per day, but with the new facilities, that number is expected to rise. Over the next three years, SpaceX will add one million square feet to the Bastrop site, focusing on Starlink production and advanced semiconductor components. Additionally, the expansion will strengthen SpaceX’s research and development (R&D) efforts in semiconductor technology and improve its advanced packaging facility.
Several key projects are planned for this expansion, including the development of printed circuit boards (PCBs), a semiconductor failure analysis lab, and panel-level packaging (PLP). Once completed, the Bastrop site is expected to become the largest PCB and PLP facility in North America.
