everybody i am back again and this is
not your normal will and amla live today
i'm going to be reacting to a new video
put out by jubilee if you're not
familiar with jubilee they are very
large i think to the tune of six million
or more subscriber youtube page that
puts out videos on different social
issues featuring regular average
americans just talking about in-depth
topics now today they put out a video
and it's a little controversial uh it's
called is it okay to have a preference
of race question mark interracial
couples agree or disagree and this is
what the series they do called spectrum
where they bring in all these people ask
them the same questions and see how they
react so without a further ado let's get
right into the video
[Music]
i have unintentionally been racist
towards my partner three two
one
go
quite the divide there it's so
interesting i love how they start this
off with the first question i have
unintentionally been racist towards my
partner and it's part of this sort of
leftist doctrine and ideology that even
though you have a black partner or a
hispanic partner an asian partner or you
have black hispanic or asian kids you
can still carry racism within your daily
life and within your own sentiments and
in the ways that you act so let's see
how these couples respond to their
unintentional racism
i've definitely been
ignorant so we were
so we
had we had an argument and i was upset
and i had previously expressed how the
star the stereotype or the stigma on
angry black men or angry black women and
how that
makes me feel and so we got into an
argument
i was an angry black man
but in that moment of anger he actually
called me an angry black man which which
is like the worst thing maybe it goes
crazy
so i he he states in this sentence i was
an angry black man but it's not okay for
my white partner to say that i can
acknowledge that i'm an angry black man
but because that is a stereotype of the
black community it is racist for you to
say that so luckily they squashed this
disagreement and and now he can
internalize the fact that he is a angry
black man but nobody else can say that
about him because apparently that's
racist let's keep going
because um that you know that was like
the one thing and i was like talk to him
about um so
you know that was a really bad fight um
and it never happened again
right i feel like i mean i'm strongly
disagree but i think as just a white
person i
am just inherently ignorant so i think
i'm gonna move to somewhat agree dating
a black man has completely opened my
eyes more than i are oh pause do you see
the detrimental effects of this sort of
ideology and this sort of thinking this
is a woman who is dating a black man a
young black man has probably never
expressed any sort of racist tendencies
or any sort of racist sentiment
whatsoever but she is walking down to
the somewhat agree on this spectrum and
saying because i'm white i am inherently
i am inherently ignorant and i'm
inherently racist in some way shape or
form so i should just admit that there
is no sort of racism or racist thinking
or discriminatory thinking that is
linked to your race in any way shape or
form but she has been indoctrinated into
believing that and this is what happens
when you when you utilize this sort of
brainwashing in a society you you
actually convince people who are
perfectly good people who are not
judging people based on their race who
are in in most respects colorblind
although we're not allowed to say that
word anymore and now she believes that
just because of her skin color that she
is ignorant and racist blows my mind
let's keep going already thought they
were open you know to be fair you've
never
said anything that made me feel like
damn she's racist
oh luckily we have the saving grace that
is her partner saying to be fair you've
never said anything that is racist or
done anything that is racist and that
should be the metric of racism if you
have never said or done anything that it
has expressed that your race is better
than someone else's or that someone
else's race doesn't deserve the same
privileges that you have you are not a
racist so to all the white people out
there who are listening and who are
listening to these critical race
theorists who tell you just by virtue of
being born with your skin color that you
harbor some sort of unconscious bias
some sort of unintentional racism don't
listen to that if you are not actively
perpetuating racism in your daily life
guess what you're not a racist let's
keep going i'm from the bay
so
it used to be in my vocabulary where i
would say the n-word with
the a i would wrap it i would i would do
just those things but um my slang in
general would just take her off and then
um i became conscious of it and i really
liked her or i still do of course i love
you um
i started uh changing the way i speak i
feel like she should be over here too
um
she would do uh asian accents
the only
time that i feel like i could be
offending asian people is when i'm
mocking you
when you're mocking your mother
so i only do the accent when he does it
making fun of his mom before that i
never did that so
here's another thing it's not racist to
do step out of line uh you are now
racist in some way shape or form and i
like that she did not move she said no
that's not racist that's just me doing
an imitation of you imitating your own
mother it's not racist for me to do
accents which it is not and you can do
them in any context she shouldn't have
to defend herself for for doing that uh
let's keep going
okay guys so we're gonna do something
different this is called hot tapes and
basically we have our audience submit
hot takes okay so this is a segment
where they start to do hot takes which
are unpopular opinions or sort of
unusual opinions submitted by the
audience i'm going to skip ahead a
little bit just because they go over
some little inappropriate ones we'll
skip to the ones that are not
inappropriate and go over sort of the
cultural differences let's see right
with me whatsoever
i have always wanted mixed babies
and we get the youtube ads
luckily
so much better let's skip over this ad
three
two
one
go
at one point in my life i kind of wanted
to have mixed babies with almost every
race
i don't know if that's weird
but i just wanted i'm real into genetics
i would like to see um
how my kids would turn out
and
never rest
as a mixed race person myself you don't
have a group of people to really be
around i mean sometimes you connect with
one side sometimes you connect with
another side but for me it sucked
actually a lot i've accepted myself i'm
black and proud i love the fact that i
have both of these cultures and i really
don't care i just have to teach my kids
that because of your skin tone you
either gain privileges or lose
privileges like
oh
so much wrong with what i just heard
first and foremost just growing up as a
mixed person i'm a mixed person myself
i'm half black i'm half white uh it's
really i feel bad hearing him say that
he felt the need to choose one side and
that as a mixed child life is going to
be harder for you because you have to
choose which side uh you know you you
you amalgamate to the best or you
assimilate to the most and that
shouldn't be the case we shouldn't be
looking at people based on their skin
tone and we shouldn't be looking at
people based on what what races come
together to create them he shouldn't
have to go well i'm i'm black and i'm
this race so i need to choose which
which group of people that i hang out
with and and the same is to be said for
the people around him they shouldn't
look at him and say you're mixed you
need to pick a side uh you should be
able to create relationships as he has
with somebody who's outside of his race
you should be able to do that with
friendships you should be able to do
that with your peers you should be able
to do that with significant others which
all of these people have done but it
amazes me that all all of these
different couples have have come
together created relationships with
people outside of their race yet they
allow race to become such a prominent
factor in their lives your relationships
are a testament to the fact that race is
not important that you can create
connections and love with people who who
don't share your cultural upbringing who
don't share your skin tone yet they have
remained in this sort of indoctrinated
brainwashed ideology that race really
matters to keep going i've had people at
work like we'll be talking about
ourselves and they'll i'll show them a
picture of ivan and they'll be like oh
my god i totally wanted black babies
like when i was like a teenager and it's
just like this isn't build a bear like
this is a human like right
so and i actually have an eight-year-old
mixed child
it's been very challenging but i've had
to stick it out because i'm i want to be
a good father and i care about my kid so
this isn't build-a-bear this is real
life
and in my mind i wanted to have kids
that was exactly my skin tone or very
close to it and look like me because i
am conceited as well
where the hell i'm going to find
somebody to do that
and it work out and they're just a
perfect wife i don't i don't believe in
that anymore it's funny because that was
actually something we talked about when
we first started dating that became of
insecurity of mine i was like so why are
we dating because yeah that's exactly
the question you should be asking if you
are dating a man who is not your race
and he looks at you and he goes you know
what i need to find the perfect woman
who is my race so that i can have
children that look like me because i'm
conceited um
i think that that's grounds for for
that's grounds for moving out of that
relationship but they've stuck it out
and apparently he he must have gotten
over that conception that he needs to
have kids of the same skin tone as him
which is just
i don't know it just amazes me that we
on on one hand are talking about how
racist this country is and how all of
our systems and institutions are founded
in this racism and white supremacy but
on the other hand have sort of con
consigned ourselves to who we can and
cannot date based on our race it
dumbfounds me let's keep going i cannot
provide absolutely any of that for you
and so i i understand like i said why he
feels that way why a lot of the black
community feels that way um so i'm just
glad that i'm accepted now
in our relationship she's clearly
uncomfortable i sometimes feel like i
betrayed my own race
three
two
one go
now this is very telling the prompt is i
sometimes feel like i betrayed my own
race now look at this line look at the
middle the the intersection all of the
people who are not black uh or don't
really have any uh
they're not mixed with black are on one
side where they say they strongly
disagree i don't feel like i've never
been made to feel like i've betrayed my
race yet every single black person who
attended this is on the other side
saying that they agree that they have
been told that they betrayed their own
race now is that a problem with racism
and oppression outside of your race or
is that a problem with racism and
oppression within your own race that you
feel just because you are born black
that you have to consign yourself to
dating other black people to uphold some
sort of culture and to
not allow white people or people from
other races to join in your culture and
join in your communities that seems like
a problem within the black community for
me and this is very telling like i said
look at all the black people who showed
up for this filming who are now on the
right side and everybody else is on the
left let's keep going
i definitely feel like that man i feel
like
especially where i'm from
i
did my people a disservice by playing
into that stereotype and knowing what i
stand for now
it's hard for me to feel like i'm going
to be taken serious in the future if i
ever want to speak on controversial
topics my people won't respect what i
say because like it doesn't add up my
views and stuff and then i just i'm
dating somebody
outside of my race behind the scenes i
feel like i lose respect in a way
me growing up like i was never always
seen as black whether it was because of
how i looked how i talked or my culture
but then when i get with someone who's
not black right like oh you're betraying
us oh like i get comments letting my
dm's be like oh alex you're not with us
no more right and i'm like
do you want me or do you not want me you
know i it doesn't bother me if you don't
want me and i understand it is what it
is but don't pick and choose and don't
nitpick little things right if you want
me to be part of your community that
accept me for who i am don't say that
i'm oh because i'm half i don't get to
participate in certain topics or certain
discussions
and that's that's the attitude that you
should have you should not say well
that's a problem with me it's a problem
with me because i chose to date somebody
outside of my race you should say that's
a problem with the community that's
surrounding me if they cannot accept me
because of who i'm dating and he says do
you want me to be part of the community
or not he is who he is he's a mixed
black man that's who he is and that's
who he's always going to be does it
matter who he dates does that determine
whether or not he is actually part of
the black community or or not because
that's been the experience that i've had
being a mixed person
regardless of who i date i get it all
the time from the black community that
oh you shouldn't wear our hairstyles and
you don't represent our actual values
and you shouldn't be able to talk about
black issues and guess what that's not
my problem that is their problem and
that's exactly the viewpoint that you
should have do you want me to be a part
of your community or do you not and it
doesn't matter either way because i am
half black and i am part of the
community it doesn't matter what you say
to me it doesn't matter that your values
are not in line with mine i am who i am
and this is where i'm at uh and it's
it's a sharp juxtaposition to the other
guy who says you know what i did it i
dated a white girl and that's my fault
it's not your fault that you you love
somebody who does not have the same skin
color as you and anybody who makes you
feel that way is not somebody who truly
loves and supports you
let's keep watching
i applied lumi yesterday to the groin
area and 24 hours later oh my god oh
they're free lumi is the best gotta love
those youtube ads to another race has
its benefits
three
two
one go
um i guess i feel like the word like
linked kind of confused me because i
feel like experiencing another person's
experience like what their culture like
the way that they live is definitely
personally beneficial but i think that
like in terms of how others view me
because i'm dating a white man i don't
find that beneficial like i feel like
people might have like
preconceptions about who i am because
i'm an asian person who's chosen to date
a white man yeah
imagine being in love with somebody and
experiencing the bliss that is having a
significant other and actually having
somebody who shares your values and the
love that you have for them yet being so
concerned with how people on the outside
view you because of your race that's a
sad reality but it's not reality because
the majority of people who live in this
country are not racist they're not
looking at you uh based on your
relationship and the skin color of the
person that you're dating and saying oh
no she's not the right type of asian or
he's not right the right type of white
person and although that does happen
that is not the norm we've just
convinced ourselves that it is and it's
sad because of course there are there
are benefits to dating people who are
outside of your race you get to
experience other cultures you get to
learn new things you get to live life
with somebody who maybe had a different
upbringing than you or a different
culture than you do than you did and
that and that's beneficial
also i had a question for i guess other
people like do you ever feel like
being with a white person like could
shield you from
like discrimination or like that they
could like stand up for you in a certain
context like if you were in like an
altercation with the police or something
like wood having a white person there
like sure right
in that sense and that's what i kind of
thought of when i heard the question and
i was listening to you it's just like i
don't know even a customer service
experience i don't know just random
experiences where the other the person
on the other side might
judge me based on
me being black but you know versus
someone else call or you know him
calling and you know it's a whole
different experience so they might treat
you know us individuals differently so
there might be a whole different
experience based on just that
you don't get that sort of benefit from
dating a white person and i hear about
this this whole white privilege myth
all the time people talk about it all
the time you don't get that benefit from
dating a white person the only benefit
that you get is that you're dating
somebody that loves you and that's it
and it amazes me that we've we've
indoctrinated specifically the black
community so much to believe in these
fallacies that white people have this
armor and this shield that they don't
have and imagine what that does to you
psychologically i mean i was there i
believe that i believe that if i got
pulled over by a police officer um
in comparison to a you know white girl
getting pulled over by a police officer
it was going to be a lot harder for me
of course i don't believe that anymore
and anybody who would take the time to
look into the actual stats around that
and the analytics around that would know
that it's not the case that police
officers annually have about 375 million
different encounters with with people
and they don't lead to fatalities and
they are definitely not based around
discrimination so
just to think this especially as a
law-abiding citizen that you are going
to somehow somehow be put in harm and
having white people around you is going
to save you is just so sad to hear and
this is completely
the result of being indoctrinated by
schools by the news and just by
mainstream media in general and uh
booker t washington has this amazing
quote where he says there is a class of
people uh specifically colored people
that will convince the community around
them that they are oppressed because
they benefit from your oppression they
benefit from this sort of mindset of you
thinking that you can't be successful uh
as successful as a white person would be
or you will be more successful if you
surround yourself with white people and
their white privilege people benefit off
of you thinking like that and as soon as
you break away from that sort of
thinking you will become a more
successful a more happy person so it's
just sad to hear people think that this
is reality
let's keep watching
i feel like an outsider with my
partner's family
three
two
one
go
so i'm sorry grace
in our lives especially today recently
politics plays such a huge part in it
and because you come from a conservative
household it does
that's different from where i come from
and it does make me a little bit
uncomfortable to know that i'm going to
be meeting people and have to have close
relationships with them and they don't
value what i feel like i value in my
life he's actually the first
black man i have ever dated and the only
person of color within like my family
just in of itself and so
certain members of my family um with the
same political values as us like had to
kind of confide in me like hey
we support you with whoever you date
like we're here for you so it was
interesting to kind of see the different
sides of my family members that i didn't
necessarily know when i met
so much wrong here thinking him saying
again sorry grace this girl is really
bearing the brunt of this relationship
because i've heard so many different
problems all expressed from his point of
view in regard to her race yet i haven't
heard the same thing from her i haven't
heard her espouse any issues with him
being a black man yet i've heard him
three times now talk about all the
issues that he experiences and all the
issues that he has to grapple with with
her being white so what does that say
about the civilization that we're living
in right now and he says oh well your
family's conservative and i don't think
that i can develop close relationships
with people who disagree with me you
rarely ever hear conservatives say that
although i will say that it does happen
i will make that concession when it
needs to be made but you rarely hear
conservatives say well i don't want to
have any relationships with people who
disagree with me you you hear that
mainly on the left and he's expressed
that sentiment and then she talks about
her experience with her family and that
the leftists in her family have come to
her and said you know what honey we
don't care about the race of the guy
that you're dating funny enough they're
the first ones to bring it up she brings
home a black man to meet the family and
all of a sudden the leftists pop out of
the out of the woodwork and say you know
what it's okay you can date a black
person and it's because they view the
world
through the lens of race and through the
lens of racism and when that is how you
when that's the way that you view the
world that is all that you will ever see
and i'm sure that they they relegated
him to that to his skin color and as
soon as they met him they went oh well
grace it is totally okay that you are
dating a black man you know how
condescending that sounds and i think
people don't realize that it sounds
condescending and it's just this sort of
savior complex that clicks in when you
feel like you have the opportunity to do
something virtuous and to gain some
virtue points in doing so
let's keep listening
her father for the first time we were
walking to get food and we saw the
ronald reagan museum or something like
that and he's like oh yeah i love ronald
reagan right and you can have your own
personal opinions on uh presidents but
ron reagan was like he's like the main
reason why black people are incarcerated
he's not a very good person to black
people so i was just kind of cracking up
about that and i was kind of awkward and
i know you kind of bit your tongue on
that as well it was hard to not say
anything but i was thinking about saying
something to maybe like be like i don't
know about that but i didn't want to
like argue with your father on the very
what did what is he talking about ronald
reagan being an enemy of black people
and and not not doing good for black
people i i'm assuming and i looked into
this little earlier i'm assuming he's
talking about the war on drugs but a
great solution to that is probably not
doing drugs and probably not allowing
yourself to get arrested for doing drugs
or or dealing drugs because of course if
you are doing those things that are
illegal you will most likely be arrested
and after that you would be subsequently
incarcerated uh so i i'm assuming that's
what he's referring to in regard to
ronald reagan and again
it's the expression of this this same
ideology the same thinking that because
somebody has differing views than i do
because somebody likes a president that
i don't because somebody expresses
conservative uh ideas i cannot build a
fruitful relationship with this person
and i know that i'm never going to be
able to be close to this person and this
has been something that has only
developed recently in in in our nation
this has not been a problem uh a lot of
people say 1966 the year that everything
changed and we started shifting this way
politically where our political divides
became family divides became friendship
divides became significant other divides
uh and it's just it's just a tragic
thing to hear that you cannot imagine
yourself building a close relationship
with somebody who simply has differing
opinions the first day that i met him
yeah yeah that wouldn't be very fun
yeah
i don't know if i can exactly truly
connect with them because of that
he's a very nice person obviously and he
makes me feel comfortable but at the
same time i have to recognize who i am
as a person i would say i somewhat agree
i keep pausing this i can't help it so
he's stating that her father is
otherwise apart from his political
affiliation a perfectly nice man who
treats him well makes him comfortable
i'm sure feeds him and gives him shelter
when need be and when they come to visit
but i cannot accept a close relationship
with a man who does not agree with me
politically
don't get it agreed because
with
my partner's family there's a language
barrier
so
i guess it's my responsibility now to
try to learn the language but sometimes
when we're together they're talking i
have no idea what's going on so i think
that's a bit of why i feel like an
outsider but other than that i feel
welcomed
i wish we were the same race
three
two
one
go
um i'll start i feel like uh that would
just be the default easiest way to
navigate through life
but definitely
obviously growth happens when you're in
inter-relational relationships but yeah
that's kind of why i chose somewhat or
somewhat agree um yeah i guess it like
you were saying like i just feel like it
would be easier in some aspects and then
for me just like being mixed race i have
felt very like disconnected from
my culture so i feel like dating someone
from who was like chilean or who was
korean would help me but i also agree
like obviously if you weren't white you
wouldn't be like you and so i don't like
wish that and the benefit i'm glad that
she at least said that if you weren't
white you wouldn't be you and i never
wish that upon you i don't wish that we
were the same race uh we we focus so
much on skin color and culture in this
country even though we are all americans
and that should come
you know first in our in our minds and
who we are as a person what we like and
dislike our different personality
characteristics should come first before
any any sort of mention of culture or or
skin color when it comes to
relationships of course unless your
culture has certain traditions that
dictate uh who you date and how you date
then that's a whole different ballgame
that we're playing but it shouldn't
matter this much we shouldn't have to
look at the person we're dating and go
i need to think about whether or not i
wish we were the same race whether or
not it would be easier for me or more
beneficial for me if you were the same
race can we not love somebody regardless
of what their skin color is and just let
that not be a factor uh in the way that
we treat them in in in our relationships
it's outweigh like what i gain it kind
of sounds weird coming out because it's
like what do you guys get out of dating
white people
but like white people i feel like we
learn
i think it's interesting that everyone's
saying that they feel it's easier
because i feel like it would be more
difficult me
having a black man and raising a black
family that would be more difficult if i
was maybe with someone who was white
who could
probably have benefits in other ways i'm
grateful for my husband and
i love being with him and i think
there's a lot of benefits just
culturally and you guys that is
officially a wrap
that is the end of that video
and
this video makes me sad because these
couples are average young american
couples this is what people are thinking
about in their day-to-day and this is
what is influencing their mindset the
way they navigate through the world to
hear her say that it would be harder for
her to date a black man in america
is not only false but it's just so
devastating to hear because it just goes
to show that these campaigns and in
brainwashing and indoctrinating are
successful this is our young generation
right now this is what they believe and
this is going to influence where they
navigate through the world how their
children navigate through the world how
their children's children navigate
through the world and it's going to be
all enforced by this wicked false i mean
completely and utterly baseless
ideology this baseless way of thinking
there's just so many red flags in this
video i think
the worst part and the worst part that i
heard in this entire thing is this young
man who's on the screen actually right
now the one with the necklace on saying
i need to teach my kids that based on
their skin color they will or will not
have certain privileges and i need to
remember to teach my kids that that is
what we're facing right now so if you
have any chance or opportunity to speak
out against this sort of ideology a lot
of this is founded in what we've all
been hearing about and that is critical
race theory uh this is
what is perceived as common knowledge
now people think this is common sense to
think about others uh based on the way
they look and based on how how dark
their skin is amazing to me so i wanted
you guys to see this jubilee video see
what we're up against and encourage you
to speak out against it because i will
do it at every turn that i can i thought
this video was a really uh
really
an all-encompassing way to talk about
racialized issues in america race
relations and how different people view
them so thank you guys for watching if
you want to go check out this jubilee
video maybe go leave a comment because
right now uh the comment section is just
a lot of people who are reinforcing this
