nobody likes criticism It can make you
feel like a failure I'm such a failure
Criticism is a part of life It doesn't
mean you're a failure It just means
you're human and there's always
something to learn No matter how good
you are someone somewhere will have an
idea of what you could do differently
Whether it be feedback on an assignment
I'd probably do everything differently
there Advice from a coach No no Look
or maybe a unnecessary comment from a
family member You're wearing that
Criticism is inevitable What matters is
how you respond So today we give you
three practical steps on how to receive
criticism Number one listen actively
When someone's offering criticism the
natural thing is to immediately defend
yourself Yeah Yeah Whatever You don't
know my story dude What are you talking
about what am I talking about i'm
talking about baseball What are you
talking about you look like you're
talking to Resist the urge to get
defensive It just makes you look
insecure and destroys what could have
been a productive
conversation Oh very good Yeah Try to
listen carefully and hold back comments
until they finish And watch your body
language You can be rude without using
words like you need to actively listen
which means keeping eye contact and
appropriate body language I'll get
better Promise If the criticism isn't
clear ask for clarification This clears
up misunderstandings and helps you
actually learn from their advice Number
two respond with humility As it turns
out humans don't like looking bad When
we feel like our image is being
threatened pride kicks in and things get
ugly You really think I can improve my
swing no I'm the best player on the team
The truth is most criticism is actually
intended to help you move your It's
nothing to be upset about Acknowledging
your shortcomings doesn't diminish your
worth It shows maturity and willingness
to grow So don't take criticism
personally or let your emotions take you
Instead thank the person for their input
and look for the value in what they say
This is really going to help my game
coach They can only hope And in the rare
case that someone's criticism is
actually an attack the best response is
still humiliating Hey nice work out
there bro Uh next time when you go to
hit the ball make sure to hit it with
the bat not your head
Don't take yourself too seriously Good
advice Thanks man
Number three reflect and learn Knowing
how to receive criticism is important
but knowing how to actually put it to
use is lifechanging You need to take
time to reflect and consider the
criticism Even if you don't totally
agree there's almost always something
useful to take away So take a moment and
ask yourself is there any truth to this
criticism what could I take away from
this from there you can take
responsibility and use the criticism as
a tool to improve Then come up with an
action plan of what you'll do
differently next time Maybe it really is
all on the wrist In conclusion using
criticism as a tool to grow is a
shortcut to success So let's recap how
to receive criticism One listen actively
Do your best to understand Two respond
with humility Keep a good attitude And
three reflect and learn Put the
criticism to use Thank you so much for
watching this how-to video for Prageru
Hope you learned something new We'll see
you next time Until then go out there
and get criticized like this Like this
Ah Ah Not a race This is a genetics man
I know what I'm doing Hey Hey What get
off my team All right
You swing like my grandmother
[Music]
I told you it's all in my wrist
[Music]
