How to surf fish for sharks and redfish in Destin Florida. I Spent the late afternoon and evening fishing for sharks and bull reds from the beach. I was using a Penn Slammer III 7500 reel and a Penn Battle 12' heavy surf rod with 40lb power pro braid and a 6/0 mustad demon circle hook. For bait I was using fresh caught ladyfish from earlier in the day. Cutting 4inch chunks to put on hook. The results Three Redfish, 29 inches, 34 inches, and 39 inches! Three sharks, 2 blacktips and one Atlantic sharpnose. Got to the Beach around 5:00pm and had a line in the water by 5:20. I caught 2 reds and 2 sharks before sunset. After sunset I caught a small blacktip that whooped my butt by repeatedly tail whipping me while trying to unhook him. Then the prize of the evening, a 39.5" Bull Redfish!
