In today's video, I build a MONSTER diy fish trap to catch big freshwater sharks to put into my new backyard pond!
Comments are disabled for this video.
Look at this mistrap, you guys. This thing is huge.
It's made for freshwater sharks.
We literally made it to come here and try to catch a bigger one.
Come on, please. Oh, my God.
Let's see what they are. Yeah, there was something giant in here.
Oh, my God. Look at that thing. Oh, my God.
It's huge. We did it.
Oh, oh, we got one.
What is up, BFB Nation?
Welcome back to another awesome video, guys.
Today, we're going to be trying to catch more freshwater sharks
to put into my backyard ponds.
We've been doing this, you know, a lot recently, and you guys absolutely love it.
More recently, we did a video catching them in the sewer.
That was awesome. You guys killed that video.
So we're here at the OG spot.
This is where we catch a lot of babies.
Check it out. It's just this big lake and there's babies.
There's big ones that are actually breeding here.
We've never caught a big one, but that's what we're doing today.
OK, we're setting out to try and catch a bigger one.
You know, I think the biggest one we've ever pulled out of here
was only about this big.
We know there's big ones. We've seen them.
They're just very hard to catch.
And we tried everything, including rod and reel, but we only caught turtles.
So, guys, we spent all day constructing this fish trap.
And here it is.
I think we're going to catch ourselves a giant freshwater shark with this.
Just kidding. Right here.
Look at this, Rob. Dude, where'd you get that?
Yeah, this is a fish trap, you guys.
This is a giant fish trap that Rob actually built today.
And it's made for freshwater sharks.
We literally made it to come here and try to catch a bigger one.
We're going to try our very best, guys.
We've never done a fish trap for the big boys.
This trap is a freaking beast.
OK, this is one big trap.
I mean, look at me next to it. It's huge, dude.
I'm really excited to use it and see if we get lucky and get one of these big ones.
If we do, guys, we're going to bring it to our new predatory pond.
7,200 gallons.
And yeah, that's just ifs, guys.
We did bring a smaller fish trap just to, you know, make sure we we probably will
catch something because we don't know if this works yet.
Basically, we took a traffic cone right there to make the funnel.
Check it out.
We drilled it into this piece of wood so the fish will go in through here.
And then once they're in it, it is a funnel.
They won't be able to get out, guys.
It's as simple as that.
Bro. Oh, my God.
No. Oh, my God.
It was a giant iguana.
OK, well, there's a lot of stuff out right now.
What we're going to do, guys, we're going to bait up these fish traps.
Place them in here and then come back and we're going to check them and pray to God
we catch ourselves a mondo freshwater shark.
All right.
So right here we have this trap baited up with cat food.
Fish love cat food, including these iridescent sharks.
Now, if you guys are wondering, yes, these are a species of freshwater shark.
They're actually aquarium fish that people have let go here.
Now they are breeding and populating this entire pond.
So let's go. Let's place this trap.
Let's place this trap right here.
This is where we always place it, right by that moving water.
There it goes.
I think that's a good spot.
Hopefully we get lucky.
These fish, if I'm not mistaken, do function at night.
So they probably will smell that bread and they should go in.
Now we're going to bait up the big monster fish trap.
So right here, you guys, we're using tilapia fillets.
Ew. Yeah, that was juice.
Look at that, you guys.
Tilapia fillets.
Iridescent sharks love it.
In it goes.
We got two of them. Just extra, extra juice, guys.
There we go.
And in the bait goes.
Now, an interesting fact about the iridescent sharks is they're always moving,
constantly moving so they can never sit still.
So the good thing about us going for them at night, you know, most fish are asleep.
These sharks, they're still moving around, looking for food.
They never stop.
Dude, it's heavy.
How do I even lift this, bro?
Look at this. You got.
Dude, that is actually insane.
Look at this fish trap, you guys.
This thing is huge.
OK, where should I put it?
Dude, this thing is a beast.
Oh, my God.
Oh, there we go.
OK. Oh, yeah, it sinks well.
That is so money.
Rob, this is going to work, bro.
That looks so good.
That was perfect.
Check it out, guys.
Now it's not fully submerged because it is a little shallow here.
All that matters is that funnel is fully submerged.
OK, these sharks can go in there.
Hopefully that tilapia fillet is enough to call in the bigger sharks
because they're out deep, but we can't place that trap out deep.
So hopefully we have to call them in and hopefully they will smell it.
We're going to come back really late tonight.
We're going to give us like four to five hours or a very long time.
We're going to come back and pray that we catch something.
If not, I don't know what else to try.
This is our last ditch effort to try and get one.
We'll see you guys in a few hours.
All right, you guys, it has actually been about two hours.
We want to check the traps right now.
I know we said like four to five, but I'm very anxious.
I want to get right in there and see what we caught.
It's already been two hours,
so that's definitely enough time to catch some fish in our traps.
We have a bucket. Let's go see what we caught.
I don't see anything yet, but let's let's go back.
Oh, no. I still see our tilapia fillets.
I don't see anything, but we do still have our little mini trap, guys.
I don't think we caught anything in the big one, but I'll just make sure.
No, we should do we should just replace it and we'll try again.
Yeah. Maybe point it the other way.
Yeah, nothing in a trap.
Honestly, I might try to get a little bit deeper.
We're getting one one way or another.
We're coming out here with a shark.
OK, that works.
Check the little trap and see, you know, even if we do catch little ones,
that's still a win.
Come on, please. Oh, my God.
Well, I hear a lot of fish in here.
I hear fish.
Look, look at them flopping around.
Let's see what they are. Yes.
Bro, we actually got one. Look at this.
OK, we'll take that.
Nice one right here, dude.
Look at that.
Oh, yes. What a gorgeous fish, bro.
That's a really nice one. Let's fill up the bucket.
Here we go.
There's still more fish in here.
That's not it.
Let's see what else we caught.
Lots of tilapia, it looks like.
Yeah, little tilapias.
Lots of tilapias.
We're going to throw them back.
Another one.
Dude, we caught so many.
All right. Well, I think that is it, guys.
Only one shark.
I'm not settling with one shark today.
You guys, that that's not enough.
He's really cool, but we need to catch more and we want bigger ones.
So we're going to do we don't do this too often where we, you know,
set traps multiple times throughout a video.
But I think this video calls for it because we have to get very lucky
in order to catch a big one in the big trap.
We're going to keep checking it, keep placing it.
You know, maybe we'll switch it around.
We're also going to throw the little mini one out there
just to catch more babies as we do that.
So let's throw it in the same spot right there.
Yeah, guys, we're going to take this one back to my koi pond right now,
just because we don't want to keep them in the bucket for too long.
So let's get this guy in the pond and then we'll check back in with you guys
in another couple of hours and see what's in the traps.
All right. Little guy in the bucket.
We're going to take him home right now and throw him in the koi pond.
That's a nice little iridescent shark, you guys.
Now, don't don't don't be like, hold on, you're trying to catch giants
and you're coming out with a little bucket. Don't worry, guys.
We have the giant cooler ready on standby, filled with water, ready to go.
In case we do catch one of these, we're going to run it back,
throw them in the cooler and get them home as fast as possible.
These fish are very aggressive, very fast.
They are known for just running straight into walls and knocking themselves out.
So we have to be very quick and careful if we do catch a big one.
But this little guy is good in the bucket.
We're going to take him home.
We have a lot in here.
I think maybe eight that are growing out.
Most of them, this guy's size.
Now, the reason we want to go out and catch a big one
and not just grow them out is because they grow very, very slow.
I'm going to add them in right now.
But yeah, guys, I have one that's albino.
I think he's about this big and he's six years old.
So these things are really, really, really slow.
So, guys, we'll see you in about another two hours
when we check the big trap again and hopefully we get lucky.
Hour four, guys.
It has been a long time waiting, but hopefully it's well worth it, guys.
Our trap, I could see it.
Let's go check it and see if we caught anything.
Honestly, dude, I'll take anything at this point.
I just want to catch a fish.
Oh, my God, dude.
What? That scared the crap out of me.
Oh, my God.
I didn't think there was anything in there.
Did you see it?
That scared me so bad.
Where did it go?
Not even kidding.
There was something giant in here.
What is that, dude?
What is that? Oh, look at that.
It is a snakehead. It's huge.
That is a big snakehead.
Look at him.
That scared the crap out of me.
All right, let's pull it up.
Oh, my God, dude.
I thought it was like a gator.
I don't even know.
I just saw him surface.
I was like, holy crap, what is that?
See if we can actually pull this out of the water.
Here we go.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, my God.
Look at that thing.
Dude, that is actually insane.
Oh, OK.
The trap, honestly, is not too hard to pick it up out of the water.
That's good.
Look at this.
Oh, my God, it's huge.
How do we get him out?
Uh, guys, we didn't really quite think this one through.
We caught a giant snakehead, but we don't have any.
We don't have a way to get him out.
Let me get a knife and we'll cut a little hole.
What we're going to do, guys, we actually didn't think of this at all,
but we need a hole to retrieve our fish and create like a little trap
door that we can open and get all of our fish out.
OK, that works.
If we catch anything bigger in the future, we'll cut a bigger hole.
But I think this will do for now.
Try to get the snake.
Dude, it's it's big.
It's actually a monster snakehead.
Oh, dude, that is so good.
Flip them around.
Come on.
Oh, look at this, dude.
It's huge.
OK, well, that's not what we were going for, literally at all.
That is a snakehead, not a iridescent shark.
But we'll take it.
Look how birdy his tail is.
See the white dots right there?
That's just gorgeous, bro.
I wish we could keep them, bro.
I would have a pond full of them.
FWC.
That was a if.
OK, I would if it was legal.
These fish are illegal to keep.
So we got to throw them back right now.
We're going to send them off now.
Go tell your shark friends to go in the trap next.
Look at him slither off.
That thing is crazy, bro.
Wow. All right, dude, you know what?
I think we got to do some modifications to the trap.
Not like physically, but I think we need to place it deeper.
What do you think, Rob?
Because the sharks are out deep. Why not?
We're going to try our best to get it as deep as possible.
Now we're going to zip tie this and patch it up.
And yeah, guys, we're going to keep going.
We're going to keep trucking along to try and get ourselves a big old
freshwater shark.
So we're going to patch up these holes and send her on back out there.
This time, we're going to try and get a little bit deeper.
I don't think it's going to be difficult for you
because you're so jacked, tan and handsome.
Yeah, that's me.
Dude, what if I just freaking throw it?
I believe in you.
That still works.
I'm surprised it didn't break.
I think I need to get a little bit deeper, though.
This is a great angle, by the way.
Oh, really? Of like the fish trap?
Yeah, the fish trap for sure.
Dude, that is pretty cool.
What the hell?
I'm getting out of the water.
The mini trap. I forgot about it.
We should check that, too.
Let's check the little fish trap while we're at it.
I got it. Oh, I just saw a fish, bro.
Come on, please.
If we get another little baby, that would be awesome.
Oh, what is this?
Something bigger. Oh,
oh, it's a giant.
Oh, nice. It's a red ear sunfish, I think.
That's pretty cool.
Oh, we're going to throw him back, though.
Not cool enough.
What else? Oh, more tilapia.
Surprise. Oh, my goodness.
Dude, is that all that?
Oh, what is this?
One of those little mud, mud, mud pikes.
We're going to throw them back, guys.
Nothing crazy.
Let's throw this one out there while we're at it, too.
We're just going to keep catching fish.
Should we throw this in a different area?
Maybe like, yeah, why not?
Oh, that works.
All right, guys.
Well, the giant fish trap is a little bit deeper now.
Hopefully that changes things.
All right, guys. So here's the deal.
We are very tired.
It's very late and we still haven't caught a freshwater shark.
However, we're not giving up.
What we're going to do, we're going to leave this giant fish trap
along with the little one here overnight.
And we're going to come back the next night, a full 24 hours.
And we're going to check then.
I think that's our best possibilities of catching something cool.
See you guys then.
All right, you guys.
It has been a full 24 hours since we last saw you.
It's the next night and we're back here at the spot.
We placed our traps in search for these monster freshwater sharks.
I've been thinking about the trap all day, guys.
It's been so hard not to come here and check it.
But you know what?
Hopefully it was worth it.
I see the trap still.
That was one of my worries, too, is that someone would like take it out.
But honestly, I've been thinking about it.
No one's going to go there and go through the trouble of taking that out
because it is pretty heavy.
Our smaller trap should be to the right more.
We're going to actually check that one first.
All right. A little a little appetizer.
Oh, there it is out there in the deep.
Let's get some water in the bucket and we're going to check this little trap.
Got it. Here we go, please.
Come on, give us something good.
I don't even see or hear anything in here.
I hear a fish. Oh, big, big tilapia, bluegill.
Yes, we got one.
We freaking got another. Yes, Rob.
Nice. That's a nice one.
Oh, those are so good.
They're nice and healthy looking.
And we also got a bunch of these a little bluegill tilapia.
We'll throw them back.
Oh, wow. We actually got a lot of fish, bro.
Holy crap. Any sharks?
Bluegill, tilapia, bluegill, tilapia.
All right. Well, that's not what we're looking for.
We're going to toss these guys back.
I think that is it.
We did come out with one shark. All right.
So it's not a total loss.
He's a nice looking one, too.
Look at that.
We're just after their mama now.
We just want their daddy.
Dude, it's time. Are you are you ready, Rob?
I'm so ready. It's been a full day.
We haven't stopped thinking about it.
It's been so hard not to check it.
And it's finally time.
I don't see anything yet, but we're going to go up in there and get close and see.
Hold up. What is that?
Is that the tilapia or is that like a.
I think I do see a fish in there.
All right. Let's pull it up.
I'm nervous, man.
I'm nervous, OK?
We didn't catch a shark.
This was all for nothing.
We did catch babies.
But the whole point of this big fish trap was to catch the Mondos.
So here, let me take the camera.
I'm going to walk up and we're going to see if we see anything.
I thought I saw a fish, but I'm not 100 percent sure.
Dude, there's a lot.
The good thing about this, if there was a fish in here for a whole 24 hours,
it definitely would live because look at the flow.
Honestly, I don't see anything.
I'm just going to pull it out, bro.
Come on. Oh, I don't see anything.
Yeah, I don't either.
Oh, my God.
We did it.
Rob, we freaking did it.
I think that's one.
I swear to God, that's one.
Look at him right there.
I think that's one, bro.
Is that a shark?
I can't tell. Is that a shark or is that a catfish?
Rob, I do. I think we did it.
I think we did. I'm going to get it up. Ready?
Come on. Please be a shark.
Oh, there's something else in there.
That's a shark, Rob.
Really? Yes, it's huge.
Look at the size of it.
It's like that big. Oh, my God.
It's freaking huge. OK, I'm going to keep him in the water.
I'm going to cut out the hole preemptively.
We got to be careful with this thing.
They're very fragile.
We did it, bro.
Look at that. Not those.
Those are that's like a minus floppy.
This big guy right here.
Yeah, that's a shark.
That's a freaking shark if I've ever seen one, bro.
He's huge.
All right, we're getting you.
Here we go.
All right, that should definitely be enough.
Here we go, dude.
Let's lift her on up.
It actually worked.
Look at that thing.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God. It's huge.
That is insane.
All right.
Come on. Come to the hole.
Here, Rob, grab him.
Can I lift these things?
I think so. I'll try.
Got him? Yeah.
All right, sweet. Got him by the lip.
We got him.
Dude, a freshwater shark.
And he's big.
That's the biggest one we've ever caught.
All right, let's run him to the cooler.
We got the cooler filled up, ready to go.
We did it, bro.
That is a shark.
Let's go.
Let's get him in.
Oh, no, don't do that.
Look at that thing.
Aerator on.
We did it.
We caught a shark, bro.
I didn't think we were going to get one, man.
We know they were out there.
We've seen them for so long, literally years.
And we've never been able to catch the big ones.
And today we did it, bro.
Shout out to Rob for making the trap.
We're definitely going to have to come back, maybe with a bigger trap.
Because guess what, guys?
This is not the biggest one out there.
That thing's big, but they get way bigger than that.
I'm talking literally like this big.
So this freaking shark is literally so much bigger than my albino one.
And the albino one is six years old.
So this thing's a beast.
He's already probably seven or eight years old.
Oh, dude, there's more fish in the trap.
Oh, yeah, there's more fish in the trap.
We got to get them out.
There's more fish in the trap.
It looks like a spotted tilapia right here.
Oh, yeah.
A little spotted tilapia.
We'll throw him back later, dude.
And this looks like a mine right here.
Oh, I got him.
Oh, all right.
Oh, my God.
We need a better doorway for this, dude.
Another little mine right there.
Not a shark.
We don't care.
Throw him back.
Oh, my God, dude.
I can't believe this freaking worked, bro.
We tried thinking of ways to catch these bigger sharks for so long now.
And then we were like, what if we just made a giant fish trap?
This video has been absolutely insane.
We caught two baby iridescent sharks.
One is in this bucket.
One's in the Koi pond.
And then we ended it off with a massive freshwater shark.
Also caught a big old snake.
This trap works really, really well, dude.
Let's freaking go.
Look at this thing.
If you guys want to see more videos where we try to catch fish with this trap,
comment down below what you want to see us try to catch next.
But for now, we got that big old shark in our cooler.
We got to head back to my house and put him in the pond, guys.
This was insane.
You guys, this is big.
OK, we caught ourselves a giant shark.
We actually did it.
But before we add him into the predator pond, we have this guy,
the little baby who will soon be that size.
Well, actually not soon.
They're in a very long time because they do grow really slow.
But we are going to add him into a little Koi pond.
And dude, down the line, we're going to have some freaking months.
Think about this, bro.
We have like eight in here that are this size.
Imagine like ten of them this big in my prairie pond one day schooling up.
They are schooling fish.
That will be awesome.
Now, guys, we're actually going to grab a pillowcase and use the pillowcase
to transport the big shark just so he doesn't mess himself up in the nets.
And we're going to throw him into the pond.
Got our pillowcase, guys.
Here we go. Let's see how he's doing.
Oh, he's doing really good.
Look at this, Rob.
Oh, he's doing really good in there.
OK, we're going to try and pillowcase him.
Kidnap him. Let's see if this works.
Yeah, we're going to try and kidnap him.
Got him. Look at that.
Straight in the pillowcase.
This is the best way to transport bigger fish that will get,
you know, their spines stuck in a net and also hold water.
So he's going to stay wet and still be able to, like, breathe.
And he won't get stressed out.
All right, guys, we've made it to the pond. Check it out.
We're going to get our shark in here.
We have an albino one, but he's definitely not as big as this guy.
And this one's wild caught.
So here he is. Oh, wow.
Look at that thing. Such a cool fish, bro.
They are fragile, like I said.
So I might have to sit here and revive them for a couple of minutes.
That's the one thing about these fish, guys. Very, very fragile.
Here he goes. I think he's ready.
Go on, big guy. Oh, look at him.
Oh, yeah, he's good. Oh, he's good.
He's going to find that albino one and they're going to school up.
They are schooling fish.
He's going to meet the other ones. Oh, he looks great, dude.
Oh, look, he's coming to say hello.
Hey, buddy.
That is so freaking sick, dude.
That is such a big fish.
So happy we caught something to add into our pirate pond.
Now in this pond, guys, we mainly have catfish, all of our red tails, a big rip saw.
There's an arowana right there. We have three arowanas.
It's really cool to add a new species in here.
We do have an albino iridescent shark, but it's mainly bigger catfish.
There's the albino. What's he doing?
He's going crazy.
See, look how small he is.
And he's six years old, dude. Wow.
And yeah, guys, comment down below a name for our new shark.
This thing is awesome.
There he is right there. Very cool.
Well, guys, of course, we're going to keep you updated on his journey.
We're going to try and catch more and add more into my pond.
This was epic, guys.
If you want to see more fish traps
with that giant one that we just made, go down there, leave a like,
leave a comment, subscribe down below if you haven't already.
Guys, I'll see you in the next one. Peace out.
