36 Hours Catching GIANTS… Then DISASTER Struck 100 Miles Offshore!

This trip had everything. Dropping giant baits, countless violent strikes, drag ripping runs, relentless fights, tons of giant fish, and expensive heartbreak. We're on the SoFanatical again today. We're getting ready to take off. It's almost midnight. This is Captain Blake. What's going on guys? I think we'll be fishing before dawn. Right around dawn. The sun's coming up. Okay. All right. so we arrived a little bit before dawn to the first fishing spot everybody else was still sleeping from the six hour ride out but i wanted to get up and fish so i decided to get a few drops in with live bait before i started jigging first bait i dropped got ate by something good all right you got a little something a little something it looked big when he first hit me oh there he is So what did you say about me? Oh my! There we go. He got bigger. It's getting bigger and bigger. Doesn't feel like it AJ. You guys ready to go on top? This was my first time using the accurate reels and I absolutely loved them. I liked them so much after the trip I went out and got some for myself. Big old sow. Sweet. Sweet. Yeah, good for now. Bob. Oh, yeah, bro. Nice red snapper. First fish of the trip outside of bait. I'm sorry, baby. that went so easy i decided to drop another bait drop and before i hit bottom i was on again It's a hippo. all right when fighting bottom fish from the rod holder low gear is your best friend I was pretty sure this wasn't another snapper because of us fighting completely different another good one guys another good one all right i'm gonna go daddy i'm gonna go another nice nice one Almaco until i went out with fanatical charters i didn't even know we had Almaco jack that size in the gulf now everyone else is up and fishing so it was time for me to start jigging no way this is a lot tougher way to fish than the 50 wide and the rod holder but it's It's way more rewarding. Oh my god. The hook pulled, but at least I kept my jig. That was a good fish. So we got to the next spot and I decided to try and drop some live baits with a stand-up rig. Oh, I just got on. We had multiple people on when I got smoked by a massive fish. God dang. This fish was just peeling drag and I did not want him to get back into the reef. While I was fighting this fish I got tangled into another anglers line but the deckhands were all over it. Coming this way. Sorry Dennis. It's a good fish. I hope it's not an AJ. That was the fourth big sow of the trip and we'd just gotten started. Still doesn't count because it was on the electric. There was no electricity in there. That doesn't matter. So it was time to get back to jigging, so I put on the Delta fishing gear Flat Albert and I didn't have to wait long for the action to start. There it is! There it is! You called us to get hooked up too? You on too? oh yeah oh yeah yes sir yes sir there's just something special about catching a big massive fish on a jig it just feels so much more rewarding than live bait. First keeper gag of the trip on the jig but it wouldn't be the last let's go baby all right guys second nice gag of the day Jig is working. The blue crab jig. Big. There we go. The flat Albert was absolutely killing it. I was hooking up two to one over live bait over the rest of the boat. Kind of acting like it. I think you might have a scamp, sir. I hope so. We'll see. What the hell was that? Oh, go for it. Lost another jig. Did you see how hard that hit? Yeah I saw it. The line wasn't freighted up bad, was it? So I retied and dropped right back down. No he pulled. You should have a glass of creme brito going. i got really lucky because he had me deep in the structure yeah look at that oh yeah he got smoked all right guys it's night time now dark out they've got some live baits some butterfly baits out on the back of the boat here but i'm sticking with the jig see oh shark right there oh yeah little bitty one how deep are we here probably like 180 200 feet oh okay not very deep i can go to a lighter jig yeah you could what was that my phone It's fine. uh oh good good morning guys this is the second morning got a good night's sleep last night rested up and uh we got about a half day of fishing left eventful evening I dropped my iPhone into the water. It's gone. I had a rod get hit while I was trying to text the wife and I don't know how it happened, but when I reached for the rod, my iPhone just popped out of my hands into the water. And to make it worse, I lost the fish too. It broke my line instantly. What you got there, Brantley? Or Brandon? Yeah, big ol' stick. Brandon. Talk Dave, the church could hear it. we were absolutely slaying the gags on this trip you get hit on the way down Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on. usually when your bait gets hit on the drop down it usually means it's not a grouper And you'll see this fish starts dragging me from one side of the boat to the other, which usually means either an amberjack or maybe even a shark. God, he's just ripping drag. He's going under, he's going under, he's going under. All right, slide to your right, slide to your right, let's go. Thank you. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Yeah, nice gag. No, jack, jack. Jack. Bring him up first. So I decided to give my arm a break from jigging, and Chris pulled out a giant live bait for me to drop. To go for a rod? Yep. Now this is a big bait, so I know anything that eats it is not going to be on the smaller side. Oh, that was me. I was letting a little slack out. so the bait was getting messed with but it's crucial with a bait this big to give the fish time to eat it completely Yes, sir. so we were over some heavy structure and the captain didn't want this fish to get back into it so he used the boat to pull the fish away from that structure Oh boy. So I was pretty sure what I had on the end of the line, but I didn't want to count my chickens before they were hatched. A bat, a popper, a goat. Woo! That's very nice. Damn, I can't believe that thing ate that porgy. That's right. All right guys, fourth gag of the trip. Hell of a trip. It's freaking awesome. Nice, nice, nice. Going down. So we were at the last spot of the trip and we hadn't reached our snapper limit yet. So the goal was to load up. Is that a trigger or a snapper? It's fighting like a trigger. Little baby red. It was small compared to the ones we were catching earlier but it was still well above keeper size. Peanuts, Peanuts, Peanuts, Peanuts! Come on big sow. Oh it came off. I got him that time. You gotta love a hot red snapper bite where you can't even get your jig to the bottom. Another keeper in the boat and anyways I would much rather eat a 20-inch snapper than a 32-inch snapper any day. Oh that's a good one uh it's not as big as I thought he just hit hard. There you go. Oh I'm a cow. The jig's on fire.
