Rachel Zegler stars in Disney's live-action 'Snow White' in theaters Friday

in 1937 Walt Disney debuted his very first featurelength animated film with his very first princess Snow White and the Seven Dwarfves on Friday almost 90 years later The Legacy Story comes to life in a brand new way with a liveaction cast and a magical extended soundtrack i was there for the world premiere in Los Angeles and talked to the director and the star of this gorgeous new adaptation [Music] while you work rachel Zgler is Snow White she admits she's had some Disney princess training photos of me as Snow White i was Belle three times for Halloween when I was a kid a Disney expert over here like and now a real life princess so it's pretty wild it's a pretty full circle moment that means a lot to that kid and at the world premiere a royal welcome to the legacy from the Little Mermaid herself princess to princess welcome to the family it's been the honor of a lifetime when Jodie Benson says to you "Welcome to the family." I got chills i really I really needed that it was awesome it was really wonderful icon zgler's journey to the big screen has had its own touch of magic she was in high school in New Jersey with no film credits to her name when Steven Spielberg cast her in 2021's Westside Story i feel pretty i really am grateful for all of it and and this has been such a huge percentage of it you know like it's been four years since I was cast in it and so out of a seven-year career four years is the majority and I've learned so much along the way to reimagine the animated classic 88 years after its original release director Mark Webb went straight to Walt Disney's vault and I think about the fact that you went through the cells you went you go back right this was like Walt Disney's first princess yes what an ambitious kind of endeavor it was for him and it blew people away i mean he really he invented the mold i said "How do you do?" How do you do what the amazing legacy of storytelling that he created 1937 yeah i went back and like we went deep into the archives we went back to what they were working on and Webb was able to bring back scenes that originally never made it into the animated classic his goal to honor the nostalgia while adding to the legacy with new music and a princess now ready to lead and inspire the next generation of Disney fans this is our kingdom and now we're here to take it back i see these images and videos and pictures of you with all these kids right and I just think about like the the kind of the handing off of it and what that must feel like it's for them it's for them every day I walked onto set and our director is a dad making a movie for his kid and and we are now giving it to kids all around the world it is for them i have chills and to be in the El Capitan Theater watching this premiere with the stars there it's it's almost like a Broadway show because at the end of every big number everybody claps so the energy in the room is amazing and also in the room Benj Pacik from Philadelphia and his writing partner Justin Paul wrote the most unbelievable soundtrack for this oo I already heard a snippet of one of the songs and a premiere feature of it on Disney Plus i'm so excited oh I know i'll see it five million times you're gonna love it and once again Disney Snow White is out in theaters this Friday
