This week, Dennis visits with Dr. Dave Arnott, Dallas Baptist University’s Professor of Management and Economics, to discuss Biblical economics. People often dismiss the Bible’s relevance on this topic, since it was written over 2,000 years ago. Their conversation reveals the Bible’s ancient wisdom on hard work, monopolies, property ownership, trade, and socialist ideas.

🚨 PragerU is experiencing severe censorship on Big Tech platforms.
hi everybody welcome to fireside chat
number 237 now you might be wondering
how for the first time in 237 of them
did i know the number
actually i knew it in number one as well
now that i think of it uh the answer is
i already asked megan
the owner of the most famous arm in
america
anyway welcome to the fireside chat so i
i do 52 of these a year
my chance to talk to you completely
spontaneously
and take your questions and and it's
it's a wonderful experience i hope for
you and certainly it is for me
on about six occasions a year
so 46 it's just you and me
or really i don't know if just gets me
or i it's just you and i or just you and
me
uh i'm thinking out loud i love grammar
which drives people crazy
in any event uh about six times i have a
very special guest
if they're not special
we figure it's better to stick to the
old formula of just you and i
or you and me
and i do have one this time as well
where we get a chance to have what they
now call long-form interview
dialogue interview with someone this is
otto of course
america's most famous dog and as i often
tell you what has not gone through his
head
and by the way last week i was in
chicago giving a speech
and a lot of people came over you'll get
a kick out of this came over with the
auto tails book
and asked that i sign it
and i signed each one on behalf of otto
dennis prager
[Laughter]
on occasion by the way you will get
another bigger kick out of this and then
of course i'll introduce you formally
uh
people have on occasion
for whatever reason and i'm i'm totally
honored by it they will ask me to uh
sign their bible
so i write this is where i got the auto
idea i write on behalf of god dennis
praker best wishes that is praying
it seems a bit odd to autograph the
bible like you're the author
a lot of funny things happen in public
life
anyway my guest is professor dave arnett
of the dallas baptist university a
terrific
university which we'll hear a little
more about
uh
obviously during our dialogue he is a
professor of management who teaches
economics i got that right didn't i yes
sir yes that's important
his specialty
i learned just
his original specialty was managing
professional tennis players that's right
correct that's right how many people
know that no not veni yes
including your students i suspect that
exactly i think you should let them know
i i i it could only enhance your
credibility with them
uh it's uh you've gotta i love people
who have varied lives i've had a blessed
life dentist really yeah well
look uh i i wouldn't expect you to know
but my view is that gratitude is the
greatest of the traits so
that that's the first thing you
expressed on our uh
our
fireside chat is it speaks well of you
so professor arnett teaches again
management with
teachers economics in the department of
management at dbu dallas baptist
university
and his specialty is religion and
economics
and that's really why
he's here because
there is so much confusion we both
believe
uh with regard to religion specifically
we're talking judeo-christian religions
all all the all the different religions
that come out of originally the old
testament and of course the new
testament
and a lot of people
think that religion teaches people to
take views that are called socialist
progressive
left-wing whatever term you wish to use
and i think it's a terrible misreading
of the scriptures but this is really
this man's field
so welcome to the fireside chat thank
you dennis pleasure to be with you and
with otto thank you for right by the way
i will add the first guest i've ever had
taller than me that's right
you know you must have this too though
i'm six four you're six four and a half
don't you have this it's weird to see
somebody your height yes looking a
person in the eye is unusual isn't it
very odd for us yes
i know there would be no way a normal
person would know this
but but yes it's very true
[Laughter]
so
how did you get into this oh good thank
you for the question and greetings from
my president at dallas baptist
university dr adam wright when he
introduced you there he said dbu stands
for god and country and he says that
every time he's at a podium and
you made an impact to our university so
thanks for being thank you as a
coincidence about five days after that
ginger and i had in our home about 10
students who were members of the young
americans for freedom and a couple of
them had been with you
right during the radio broadcast oh they
were just going on and on about oh he
was so interested in us and he was so
personable and
you made an impact so thank you that's
very sweet of you to say thank you
you're welcome to come back how did i
get started in this
wayne grudem
oh your friend wayne grudem
forgive me i i i'm not interrupting i'm
just i'm just adding
a very important little thing for those
watching
i consider him one of the luminous minds
of our time
