The devil wants Texas, folks. Not Portland, not San Francisco.
Those are already handled. Texas,
the buckle of the Bible belt.
In fact, the state where gas stations sell sweet tea,
beef jerky, and a side of scripture.
Now, this is not me, guys. This is Pastor Philip Anthony
Mitchell in front of a reported 87,000 people in Dallas.
Dallas, Texas, folks, dropping a line
that hit harder than a July sidewalk.
You want to embarrass the church in America? Take Texas.
Now, here's a twist, folks.
He never named a single candidate. He didn't have to.
Because over in Austin, Texas, state representatives, James Tallarico,
the Democrat that's running for U.S. Senate,
he's been telling people that God is non-binary.
That's right, guys. The God who parted the Red Sea
and carved the Ten Commandments in stone
has apparently been waiting thousands
of years for some random guy in Austin, Texas
to fix his pronouns.
Moses must be absolutely furious at this point. In fact,
he carried those tablets down a mountain for nothing.
And so, of course, James Tallarico
went to seminary, you know,
somewhere a theology professor is quietly asking for that diploma back
only to get even bigger. The polls flip a coin.
Yes, it's a coin flip. Tallarico,
Tallarico guys, 50. Ken Paxton, 47.
Democrats have not won a Texas Senate race since 1988,
back when phones had cords
and nobody actually needed a pronoun chart back then. You guys
remember that time, right?
The governor's race between Greg Abbott and Gina Hinojosa? Yeah,
neck and neck in Texas.
Somebody please check the forecast down below because it might be
snowing down there. Now, if Texas flips,
President Donald Trump's Senate math cracks and the Save
America Act stays buried deeper than a Texas dinosaur bone.
Now, early voting is already
open, folks. So today, you get what the media skipped.
The revival, the warning,
Tallarico in his own words, no editing.
He does the damage by himself.
The ghost churches of Turkey.
Oh, and the four words that Mitchell wants every Christian to hear.
Stop just praying.
Occupy.
Now, if you're new here, guys, go ahead and hit subscribe.
It's totally free.
It's fast.
And somewhere in Austin,
a non-binary Bible study just lost its only member.
Now, before we roll, guys,
if you or someone you love is turning 65 or on Medicare,
Chapter offers completely free Medicare help.
These guys are absolutely miracle workers.
give them a call. Phone number's down below, 909-563-8279.
I'm hearing that the best time
to call is the weekends now.
And did you know that the average senior's saving about $1,100
a year? Yeah, I would give them a call, okay?
And by the end of the show, if this light a fire in
you, go ahead and hit the like button on the way out.
Cost you nothing and annoys everyone who
deserves it. So picture this, right?
Stadium in Dallas, lights are blazing. You're getting
cooked under these lights.
Tens of thousands of people on their feet, hands up. Some of them are
crying. Then Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell grabs the mic
and he says it. You want to embarrass the
church in America? Take Texas. Silence.
Dead silence. I mean, you could hear a hymnal hit
the floor. Think about what he's saying here, guys.
Texas isn't just a state. It is the flagship.
If Christianity in America had a home office,
it probably sits somewhere between Whataburger
and a megachurch parking lot.
Take Texas and every believer in America gets the message.
If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.
Now, here's the part that should really kind of
make you sit up here. This is not a warning for next year.
Early voting in Texas is already open.
In fact, the doors are unlocked.
The lines are forming right now. So don't fold this sermon up
and tuck it in your Bible for later.
This is a fire alarm and it's ringing right now. Now,
Mitchell says that the devil is strategic.
So, well, so is your newsfeed.
Be empowered by demonic forces
That's trying to take over Texas
Right now and
In a place where nobody would expect that to happen
Not in Florida
Not in Texas
We expect that in New York
Or in Pennsylvania
Or some of these ungodly places
Nobody expects that kind of invasion
In Texas
In the buckle of the Bible Belt
The center of the evangelical world
And I'm telling you right now
It's not by accident
The devil ain't
Listen
The devil
The devil is strategic
he is strategic and what has happened
in Dampone he's trying to cripple ranch he's trying to
cripple texas the same way you want to embarrass
the people of god take texas y'all need to wake
up i'm talking to y'all i'm serious about
this this ain't no pep talk you want to embarrass
the church in america take texas
and the lord reminded me of that this morning and right now
an algorithm decides what you get to see
and it thinks that you care more about a celebrity's
divorce than the future of Texas.
This is exactly why I started the Ron Yates Report. This is a
free newsletter, guys. The stories that actually matter
in plain English before the media decides
whether you're allowed to hear them or not.
Now, think of it as early voting for your brain. You
get the truth before the spin gets to show up.
The link for this Ron Yates Report newsletter is in
the description down below and it's free.
So no collection plate required, no guilt trip. Let's
get back to Dallas. All right.
So I want to talk about this crowd here, a reported 87,000 people
in Dallas, guys. Do you know how hard it
is to get 87,000 people to agree on anything? Now,
most families, they can't even agree on where to eat after church.
These folks, they stayed for
over an hour of prayer, then over an hour of worship on purpose.
Nobody had to bribe them
with some brisket, although
that does sound pretty good right about now. Okay. These folks,
Some of them walked in lost and walked out saved.
Others came to relight a fire that had gone cold.
Atlanta's 2819 Church took over AT&T Stadium in Arlington,
Texas over the weekend for an hour of prayer,
bringing together an estimated, get this,
80,000 believers to fill the popular stadium.
The generation we live
the pendulum to swing in,
the direction,
to swing towards
and are faithful.
and repentance, and fire.
And now Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell, who has more than 2 million
Instagram followers, is releasing a new book called Contend.
It challenges readers to examine
where they've chosen comfort over conviction
and what it means to stand firm in their beliefs
without losing compassion.
Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell joins us now. Pastor, it's so great to
have you on. So your ministry has exploded
and especially among young people. And yet your
message is that you are calling them to do things that are hard,
not easy. Why are they responding
to this? Well, first, thank you for having me here, Rachel.
I appreciate being here.
I think we live in a very critical time
in American history where the pendulum of faith
can either swing towards complete spiritual decadence
or towards revival.
I do believe the generation we're living in right now
is searching for truth.
I think there is a hunger for spirituality.
And I think what we're seeing right now
is God stirring up faith in this generation.
And my team and I are just doing our best to steward
what we feel like is a move of God.
So what do you mean when you say to seek challenges
and to contend with them?
What does that mean?
What do you, cause your book is called contend.
Can I, can I read an excerpt from this?
We'll come back on the other side.
He said, this book is about fighting for the faith
externally in society,
as well as internally in private places of your heart. Both matter.
Both require something of you and the same Christ
who saved you has also equipped you for the
battle. So you're, you're telling your followers,
you're the people who follow you on Instagram,
the young people are drawn to your church.
You're saying this isn't going to be easy.
Yes.
Courage yourself.
Yes, that's correct.
Jesus Christ is arguably the most influential person
in the history of the world.
His teachings and the teachings of the Word of God,
wherever they flourish, they have an opportunity
to produce human flourishing in every stage of life.
In the first century, the brother of Jesus, a man named Jude,
had a message for his generation, contend for the faith.
I believe that that message fell on deaf ears, and the East, where
the faith was born, has suffered the consequence of their indifference.
I have simply repackaged that message for our generation
and saying that we need to contend
for biblical truth in our generation in every sphere
of influence in the culture but also in
our heart and if we don't do that it will
be our children our grandchildren that will suffer the
consequence now here's what the media keeps
on saying Mitchell Mitchell isn't a lone wolf in
Texas pastors like Josh Howerton are preaching
the same no apologies gospels no watered-down sermons
no motivational poster Jesus, and who's filling the seats?
Young people, guys. The same generation
that the experts swore were done with church.
Whoops, somebody forgot to tell the Holy Spirit
that. This is not one preacher having a good night.
It's a movement and movement's vote.
Now, who is this guy, right? Who on earth is this guy?
Philip Anthony Mitchell, Atlanta pastor,
more than 2 million Instagram followers,
and a preaching style that sounds less like a church
organ and more like a smoke detector at 3 a.m. On abortion,
you don't tiptoe. I don't care if
you're a Democrat. This is murder in the womb.
No focus group, no PR group, no PR team. Somewhere
in a corporate HR department, just reach for the smelling salts.
Then he does something that most
preachers never would. He admits that he paid
for abortions himself out loud in front of everybody.
This is not a man on a high horse.
This is a man who crawled out of the mud and is pointing you to
the latter. But then he pronounces woe. On corrupt laws.
On Planned Parenthood. On sex traffickers.
On anything that makes sin easy. Now, picture a dad.
Doctors tell him his unborn son will be
born disabled. They push him to end it.
He says no. Today, the boy runs across the backyard laughing.
That's what's at stake.
Jeremiah, before I formed you in your mother's womb,
I knew you personally.
I ain't judging you because I done paid for my fair share of abortions.
But the Lord said,
woe people to commit sin.
Legislation by a corrupt government.
That
is a
conduit
for sin.
The Lord said to all of them.
Now, look, there's a church friend in Texas
who still thinks that this election is just
politics.
Send this to him right now.
Send him the video, guys.
Jesus said, be a light.
He never said, be a dimmer switch.
Now, Mitchell says the devil has a plan.
So, let's think like a con man for a minute. You
want to shake American Christians to the bone.
Where do you strike? New York, please. This is
like robbing a bank that's already been emptied.
California already went through that drive-thru
twice, supersized. No, you go to Texas,
the buckle of the Bible belt, the one place that nobody's
guarding because, well, everybody's sure it's safe.
Mitchell said it plainly, the devil is
strategic. He didn't kick down the front door.
He slips in the back door while the church is at the
potluck fighting over whose banana pudding wins.
Now, if we add the real world politics, for years,
folks have poured into Texas from blue states.
They came for lower taxes, cheaper homes,
and wide open roads. Then, you know,
some of them voted for the same policies that chased them out.
This is kind of like escaping a house fire
and bringing the matches with you.
suburbs flip quickly one cul-de-sac
at a time nobody expects it in Texas this is exactly why
it works now fair is fair guys pastor Mitchell
never said James Talarico's name not once but
he didn't need to Talarico he handles
that job himself Talarico is a state representative from
Austin Texas and he went to a seminary years of bible study
so what did all that training produce
Well, he's suggested the Torah may hide instructions for an abortion.
The Torah guys.
Apparently, Moses was running a side business between plagues.
In fact, he said our trans community needs abortion care, too.
And again, I haven't stated this enough to say this definitively,
but there are interpretations of certain passages from the Torah
where some folks will even say that there is a there is some subtle
instructions for how to perform an abortion in the ancient world.
certain things to drink things like
that before we go further i want to acknowledge that our trans
community needs abortion care too defending trans Texans
is something we have to do every day
at the state capitol and you better believe i'll
be giving sermons on that too i want us all to be
aware of is that that modern science obviously recognizes there
are many more than two biological
sexes. In fact, there are six.
Is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God
is non-binary. So,
this idea that to be a Christian means you have to be anti-gay and
anti-abortion, there really is no historical,
theological, biblical basis for that opinion.
So, this idea that to be a Christian means you have
to be anti-gay and anti-abortion,
there really is no historical, theological,
biblical basis for that opinion. And if you
think about it from a Christian perspective,
something interesting that Jesus does throughout
his ministry is he is breaking first century norms about women,
talking with women, learning
from women, having women lieutenants in his movement.
And this was something that was
kind of unheard of in the first century.
The longest conversation Jesus has with anybody
in the whole Bible is with the Samaritan woman at the well.
And so this affirmation of women
as full and equal people is a huge part of the Jesus movement,
especially the early church.
And then the last, I think, story I would go to is the story of Mary.
Mary is probably my
favorite figure in the Bible, the mother of Jesus.
And she's an oppressed peasant teenage girl
living in poverty under an oppressive empire as a Jew.
And she has a vision from God
that she's going to give birth to a baby
who's going to bring the powerful down from their
thrones, going to scatter the proud,
who's going to send the rich away empty. I mean,
this revolutionary song that she sings,
it's called the Magnificat, and it's actually been
banned by certain authoritarian regimes because it is so radical.
But I say all this in terms,
in context of abortion,
because before God comes over Mary and we have the incarnation,
God asks for Mary's consent, which is remarkable.
I mean, go back and read this in Luke. I mean,
the angel comes down
and asks Mary if this is something she wants to do. And she says,
if it is God's will, let it be done. Let it be.
Let it happen. So, to me, that is an affirmation
in one of our most central stories
that creation has to be done with consent.
Now, I'm just going to say that one more time
for the folks who weren't paying attention to
back. Our trans community needs abortion care too.
Okay, that's what he said. Now he's claimed
science recognizes way more than two biological sexes.
Somebody please go tell the chickens that.
Oh, and then the grand finale. God is non-binary.
The Bible calls God the father. It calls Jesus
the son, not they, them, depending on the weather.
Moses came down Mount Sinai with two stone
tablets, not a pronoun chart. So let's be honest here, guys.
This is not a fight over potholes or
tax brackets. This is a fight over who God is.
And Tallarico just volunteered to rewrite God's
job description. So how close is this race?
Well, unfortunately, it's uncomfortably close. In fact,
the latest University of Texas poll, Tallarico 50, Ken Paxton 47.
Inside the margin of error.
This is not a lead. This is a coin toss
with a campaign budget. And remember,
Democrats have not won a Senate race in Texas since 1988.
Gas was under a dollar back then.
Can you imagine? I remember filling up getting gas
for like at one point, like as low as 67 cents
a gallon. So big hair was in back in 1988
and James Tallarico wasn't even born yet. Now,
why should somebody in Ohio or Florida even care?
Because control of the Senate runs straight
through Texas and President Trump needs every seat he can get.
I mean, look at the Save America
Act, guys. President Trump has demanded it pass.
It's stuck. Chuck Schumer, it is completely stuck
right now. Chuck Schumer, he called it dead on arrival.
His guards, he literally guards this
filibuster like it's the last pudding cup in the nursery home fridge.
Save America Act, guys.
Every Senate seat decides whether bills like this live or die.
Texas could be that seat that breaks
the dam, or it could be the seat that seals it shut.
So Texas, the question isn't who wins.
It is whether you show up or not.
So now, here's where things get very uncomfortable for church folk.
On Fox News, Mitchell talked about his new book, Contend.
The message, fight for your faith, out in public,
guys, and deep inside your own heart.
Because a lot of Christians think getting involved means liking
a Bible verse on Facebook
and calling it a day.
Bless their hearts.
That ain't doing nothing.
The Bible says, occupy until he comes.
Occupy, not hide, not hibernate, not wait for the rapture
with a bag of chips. Here's the plain truth, guys.
If Christians don't show up for school boards,
city councils, and senate seats, somebody else will.
And that somebody is not saving you a seat.
Every empty chair in leadership gets filled.
The only question is by who? Now, the guardrail.
Jesus said, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
So fight hard, vote loud, lead boldly,
and stay righteous while you do it.
Prayer is the engine. But you still gotta put the car in
drive. So Mitchell's book title comes from a tiny letter in the Bible,
Jude, written by the brother
of Jesus. Picture it, a man at a rough wooden table,
an oil lamp flickering, writing one urgent
message to believers, contend for the faith.
Now Mitchell says that the church in the East
did not listen. And you can see exactly how
that turned out. Travel to Turkey today,
ancient Asia Minor, the Apostle Paul's old home base,
one of the strongest Christian regions on
earth. Now, walk the ruins.
Broken stone columns, empty foundations, weeds growing where hymns used
to ring out, tourists snapping selfies where saints once prayed.
Mitchell toured those ancient
churches and said that he saw no semblance of Christianity left.
His heart broke. Then came
the thought that should keep every Texan up at night.
What happened there can happen here. Nobody
in ancient Turkey planned on becoming a museum exhibit either.
Don't let Texas become the next
tour stop. So Mitchell also took on a well-known preacher
who turned Easter Sunday into a racial
grievance rally. The claim?
Jesus was a black man because he didn't get a fair trial from Rome.
By that logic, every guy
who ever lost a parking ticket appeal is the Messiah.
Mitchell didn't flinch.
Jesus was an ethnic Jew, born into a Jewish family,
raised around the Torah in the synagogue every Sabbath,
as was his custom. Then he said the
bigger thing. Race can become an idol.
White people do it. Black people do it. Everybody's
tempted. You don't need a golden calf to commit idolatry.
Your race, your gender, your feelings,
your bathroom mirror, anything you put above God becomes a God.
Does this sound familiar?
Because rewriting Jesus to fit your politics is the same mistake,
whether it happens in a pulpit
on Easter or a campaign stage in Austin.
Jesus is not a mascot. He doesn't wear your team's jersey.
you wear his. And so here's where we land, guys.
Early voting in Texas runs October 19th
through October 30th. Election day is November 3rd.
In Texas, this isn't just one race. Governor
Greg Abbott versus Gina Hinojosa, one recent poll,
48 to 47 in Texas, guys. This is like a
barbecue joint running out of brisket by noon.
This is not supposed to happen. President Trump
rallied with Ken Paxton in San Antonio
because he already knows what is riding on this.
Senate control. The Save America Act.
The future of the state that everybody assumed was the last
fortress. Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell said
that the pendulum of faith can swing two ways,
toward decadence or toward revival.
Right now, Texas Christians are holding the rope. So pray,
then go vote, then bring somebody with you.
And drop your favorite scripture in the comments
down below right now. Let's go ahead
and flood this thing with the word. Because the devil has
a plan, but God always gets the last word.
Now, if this lit a fire in you, do me one favor on
the way out. Hit the like button. One second.
It costs you nothing, and it helps this message
reach one more Texan who still thinks
that they can just sit this one out. And if you're not
subscribed yet, what are you waiting for?
