ladies and gentleman this is Joe's
classic video games back with another
cool pinball repair video for you today
we have yet another Ted Nugent pinball
machine in our shop that we are going to
repair this isn't the same one that we
recently did a repair video on it's
another Ted Nugent pinball machine he
got brought us this and he said it won't
kick the ball out which is always what
everybody anytime a pinball machine is
not working people always describe it as
it won't kick the ball out or they'll
say the flippers don't work so that can
mean anything really so he brought it to
us and he taped some kind of seat
cushion that's filthy on the back glass
so it wouldn't break so hopefully that
back glass is fine we'll figure that out
here in a minute but we figured we'd
film a video of us figuring out what's
going on with it and what's broke on it
Ted Nugent this is actually a really
cool game so what I'm gonna do first
anytime I get a game in that I don't
know the details of I look inside of it
first because basically you just want to
make sure there's nothing inside of it
that's touching the power supply it's
gonna fry everything when you turn it on
if I just plug it into the wall it'll
probably be fine but if the you know
while they were moving it if the board
fell off the back mounted in the back
box down and now it's resting on the
power supply or something I mean you
could fry stuff turning it on so I'm
gonna answer that phone and then we'll
open it up and see what the inside looks
like
so looking inside the body there's
nothing out of place or anything that
tilt has been disabled we've got it
sitting on this card it's not on this
leg so it's it's flat so it doesn't have
the proper angle for the tilt to work
right but it's been disabled so it
doesn't matter and we took the back
glass out and inside everything looks
good so we've got our power supply over
here a little rectifier board solenoid
board with new caps and stuff it's been
serviced it's got a brand new mpu board
in it
there's the whiteboard
this is Stearns soundboard that they
used in Nugent and then we've got our
five displays so there's nothing there's
nothing obviously wrong with it so we're
going to plug it up and let's see what
happens when you turn it on all right so
let's flip the switch if I can find it
two three four five six seven I said
seven but it was actually I said I mean
I can todate but they're on those new
boards the first little flicker that you
get on the old boards is a full-on flash
so there's one flash and then seven more
all right so we are up everything's
running on it I heard a coil lock one
which is probably the point door yep so
on these they have a coin door a coil on
the coin door here that comes along and
sometimes it'll buzz it's buzzing right
now it basically pulls the little thing
back so that you can put quarters in it
and then you can hear a little bit of a
hum inside but that's just the speaker
all right so here's our displays
we're on 0 credits but let's see if we
set it on free play or not
you know what I bet that's what's going
on it's not on free play anymore because
a stern game I don't think that that
board can set a strong game on free play
so let's see if we can add to credit I
hope they didn't bring it all the way
back to us
because they couldn't figure out how to
add a credit to it all right so I've
added a few credits ball kick down I
[Music]
can't play it too good cuz it's flat you
know alright it landed in the hole but
we're not you know what I'm gonna prop
it up a little bit I'm gonna put slide a
board under the end of it so it has a
little bit of angle because you can't
play it perfectly flat the ball won't
roll right okay so on the cart I split a
2x4 under the back just to give it a
little bit of a slope and it is when the
ball lands in the out hole it's not
kicking back out so the guys description
of the problem was dead on the money
right so the ball was landing an out
hole but it's not kicking back out I'm
messing with the switch all right so
it's just a simple switch problem okay
I'm gonna take the glass off will pop
playful it up and see what's going on
okay so I've actually had this happen
before basically when the when the play
field is shut the switch for the out
hole is right here so it hangs down a
little bit under the door so if you mess
around in here you can actually hit that
switch accidentally or if somebody's
putting something in there whatever so I
found that there's a there were some
pennies and stuff on the lockdown bar
and just some little pieces of toys and
stuff like that so I think to make the
kids have been messing with it a little
bit and so somebody has reached in there
and I believe what happened was that
they pushed that switch out of place
just inadvertently so basically this
little switch is what the ball lands on
it should be up in there and over here
it should be through this little loop a
little bit so I'm gonna fix that
and Allah I'll show you how it ought to
be sitting and and come back and show
you how how it should be set up when
it's doing its thing right and then
we'll test it a little bit so it just
clipped right back in place so basically
that wire goes through a hole on the
other side and then through the hole on
this side and then this center piece
fits behind that little bar there so
it's all like that see how it's hanging
down now so the springiness of of the
Switchblade holds it up in place and
when the ball falls on the playfield it
sits on that wire and pushes the spring
down connects the blade together and so
that's how it knows that there's a ball
in the out hole so basically the ball
was falling in out hole and so it didn't
know that that it was sitting there it
must be designed in the software where
it kicks the ball out at the beginning
of the game even if it doesn't see that
the balls in the hole so that should fix
it up so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna
clean it off a little bit we'll put the
back glass back on it I'm going to test
it yeah let's let's test it to see if
quarters drop
that'd be a good thing to show make sure
he can put credits on it alright so
here's the coin max let's see if we're
jammed up or not I found like there were
like 10 pennies underneath the lockdown
board
yeah we're Jim I can see a penny hanging
out of it I shouldn't really be able to
move like that because it'll make it
where it won't line up with this thing
it might be the wrong type of MEK
recorder that good like that more
pennies they've been they've been using
the Motor City Madman as does the penny
Bank yeah see it's it's coming down this
isn't completely lined up with the Meg
all right let's see the other Sam that
one is for alright so we're at six now
seven nope
oh it's set on 50 cents per two eight
nine ten okay yeah it's set on 50 cents
for two plays I got to try to get this I
guess I could just
that seems like it's gonna stay there
that one moves too I think I just need
to bend this a little bit I can't tell
if it's been out of shape I think we're
good
I'm gonna whenever he comes in I'm
going to show them just how that stuff
works so that he can either hit the
switch to add credits or drop a quarter
through they have these little plates
over the coin switch so that you can't
stick something in and just hit the
switch because kids they're done a lot
so but if you know exactly how it is you
can just touch this there's a little
thing here on the back that rotates and
so if you know right where that is it's
real easy to add a credit so I'll show
on that little trick when he comes in so
what I'll do is I'll turn the tripod
around will put the glass back on we'll
play it a little bit just to make sure
that everything's working right and then
we'll call the customer because this was
an easy fix
all right so there's not a very good way
to film any of this stuff in one shot
because it's so long so I figured I'd
film it like this since it's just a
repair video we don't have to film it
the way we usually do maybe you'll see
maybe you'll enjoy seeing the back glass
a little bit more so let's try it out
ball kick down you couldn't see that
though it's out of shot now for the
sounds people I would kick it back out
okay so our switch is working so for the
sounds people I mean this is an old game
when this came out what year was it it
doesn't say it had to be 78 79 something
like that right maybe 80 it says
copyright but it doesn't say that day
I'm sure you're all yelling at me what
the year was right now but when it came
out you know that the sound systems on
these things just weren't very advanced
that I couldn't play you know humming
and try to play right down the middle
alright that was pretty pathetic let's
try another one
we should be able to play off these
credits it's simple there's a piece of
trash LeBron the playfield I need to
clean that off for the guy
[Music]
Oh saved by the save about the center
post remember I have the legs on it
either we're gonna blame it on the legs
legs on people other than that trash
rolling around the play field I think
we're we're pretty good
let me grab that office driving me crazy
then we'll play another game since I'm
in that car yeah I can kind of tilt the
entire machine and the tilts been
disabled so I'm gonna have to just start
cheating we go it's got a nice
satisfying spinner shot on it look at
that Oh what should have tilted it we're
rocking people we're rocking
oh let's let it right past me and again
horrible Oh a gave me the ball back
because I was so weak that I didn't hit
anything oh yeah we're beating up the
banks collected my bonus like it should
have it's good Oh in through the out
door the wrong band there's another
piece of trash on the play field down by
the left kicker alright folks so there
you go it looks like we've got it
working again
so we'll uh we'll call up the customer
tell them it wasn't no big deal come
pick it up he'll be happy to get it back
to his game room leave your comments
below make sure to give us a thumbs up
for taking the trouble to film it for
you and basically whenever we get
something in like this where it's just a
minor little repair we always try to
film it so that we can say hey look this
game popped up wasn't that big of a deal
you can do it too we're trying to
encourage people to save these things
you know now this one was already in
pretty decent shape so it wasn't that
big of a deal to just fix a little
switch and then pull some pennies out of
the coin max but
if you've never done that before like
the guy went through all the trouble to
pack the thing up bring it over here to
our shop and everything if you would
have messed with a little bit he
probably could have figured it out but
he brought it to us because he didn't
want to break it any worse than it
already was I can't really blame him but
if you're watching this video you can
fix yours right so huh hopefully if you
see enough of this little stuff like
this you'll think well you know it's not
too big of a deal something's acting up
we can just logically go through it and
figure it out so leave your comments
below give us a thumbs up for filming it
for you make sure to subscribe to us if
you haven't already we filmed videos on
pinball machines arcade games jukeboxes
all the time even trucks sometimes but
not too often so leave your comments
below and we will see you on the next
