thank you Mr Speaker uh members this is
not a new piece of legislation to this
body we actually passed it out last year
um it deals with um medical emergency
technicians and coalmine
operations um and the changes made from
last year to this year last year it
reduced the number of Mets from 2 to one
uh required in mines with 15 or less
miners this year the bill says they have
to be 10 or less miners so we reduce
that number um is to allow our mining
operations to stay operational currently
the way it is when they uh are operating
and if they only have two employeed and
one of them has to be off from work that
day then the whole mine has to shut down
if he's got the flu and he's out from
work for a week the whole mine shut down
for a week and uh people are living
paycheck to paycheck and so this simply
allows them to be operational if one of
those Mets happen to be off if they're
in a very small mine operation uh again
we passed this bill I reduced it down to
10 this year I'd be glad to answer any
questions if not M speaker I move
passage uh I'm sorry I need to ask the
cl to call committee sub one house
committee sub one thank you Mr Speaker
and the committee sub was work I did
with the cabinet to get language in
order that they were satisfied with uh
and that's what the committee sub does
so with that if there's no questions Mr
Speaker I would move passage of House
Bill 196 as amended by house committee
sub one
