what state or city in America do Asian
men rank the highest AKA where is the
Asian man's social currency the best uh
we're going to talk about this question
because this gets posed on the internet
quite often because of course there's a
lot of uh Asian guys moving around the
country and they're kind of wondering uh
maybe what city May provide me with the
best social life possibly dating life
but also just like you know social
currency feeling respected all that
stuff so we're going to break this down
please hit that like button check out
other episodes of the hot poop boys
there's a lot of comments here and
obviously being an Asian guy who has
lived in different cities Across America
I do have my opinion I also talk to a
lot of Asian people about this stuff so
I think the real question is is
essentially we could say social currency
or it's just like where in America does
it feel like an Asian guy could have the
best chance of feeling respected on a
day-to-day basis now there's going to be
a couple different factors that
determine that but let's get into it
this Reddit post where in America do
Asian men have the most social currency
uh outside of Hawaii which is obvious
choice where else can Asian guys feel
social currency you know where else can
Asians be looked at as the norm you know
and may have an easier Time
interracially dating uh you know I heard
that Seattle and Bay Area are Infamous
for not being good for Asian guys even
though there's a decent Asian population
there uh due to a lot of the whitewash
and just like the interracial couples is
not in our favor there that's what most
people believe this guy said you know
maybe if Asians put in the work places
like Nashville Portland and Charlotte
work but honestly I'd probably go for
Houston La New York possibly Vegas
Chicago and Dallas anyways so let's
think about this in this terms to make
it easier where does the a average Asian
man feel normal if you're like a tall
good-look well-off Asian dude that's
sociable that's a typee a person ality
you'll probably do okay in most cities
in America you're going to do fine now
are there cities where that particular
person tall good-looking Asian guy
well-to-do type A personality is going
to kill it yes there are cities more
where they'll even Thrive but we're
talking about the average Asian males
you know someone who's not
particularly uh extremely handsome or it
doesn't have a whole ton of money you
know what I mean like we have to be
talking about the average Asian guy here
because you know the the good-looking
successful Asian guys they're going to
be fine anyways so where does the
average Asian guy feel normal where does
the average Asian guy feel like he's
he'll get a good exchange on their
effort and personality you know return
on investment or you can say exchange
rate on their social currency uh putting
it in terms of money uh where do Asian
men feel like they will face the least
discrimination and maybe if not actually
experience a bump up and where are
Asians in power so
uh I'll give you my picks at the end but
let's go through the comment section
because uh yeah there's a lot of people
weighing in someone said of course LA
and New York are at the top choices Guys
these are the big markets tons of Asians
tons of options I'll be honest I think
if in New York type A personalities
which is essentially to sum it up guys
who are very ambitious a little bit more
outgoing a little bit more
outspoken maybe a little bit more Alpha
about being uh conventionally successful
New York is going to be better for this
Asian guy uh because there's also
everybody else is kind of on that
mindset so you're going to kind of like
just fit right into the general culture
La has a lot of ambitious people too but
it also has the very chill side where
they're like not trying to be they're
just trying to chill in in Sunny La
there's actually also that type of Asian
in Southern California also including
San Diego as well um so yeah there
obviously New York I live in New York
right now I like New York but I'm also
probably more of a type A personality um
someone said
uh yeah uh Nashville is probably not
even though Nashville is in a bad place
and they felt welcome there probably
long term it is not the best pick for an
Asian guy especially like I I think this
person is asking like what's the easiest
place to go to for an average Asian guy
not not just like oh if I meet certain
requirements what's the best place it's
almost like if I'm not trying hard
what's the best place so obviously
Hawaii is up there because it is uh
mostly
Asian someone said Atlanta is also a
good place for Asians in the Deep South
uh maybe Louisiana if you're Vietnamese
but otherwise Atlanta is fantastic I
actually know Asians who move to Atlanta
and particularly the duth area um where
there's lots of Asians and yeah they're
enjoying it so I think if you Vibe with
Southern
Culture maybe you're a little bit more
conservative I think Atlanta could be
cool you know I haven't spent time in
Atlanta myself but I do know Asians who
went there and enjoy their lives so this
person says Hawaii La NYC the variable
is diversity while having Asian men that
work on themselves in competitive male
to female ratios if the Asian men
present to be too nerdy or there's too
many men then the diversity doesn't
matter for dating yeah so so first of
all Hawaii has the highest percentage of
Asians out of any state and there's a
lot of Asians high up in politics there
and a lot of the uh you know it's just
very close to Asia it is it's just very
Asian so I think Hawaii's pretty good if
you're type A and type B I actually
think there's an argument maybe that
it's even better if you're type B and
you want to chill type B doesn't mean
that you're not Successful by the way
and that you're not ambitious in the
traditional sense but I just mean like
type B like if you want a chill life and
uh maybe you already have a wife or a
significant other moving to Hawaii could
be really great you know um uh
especially for your mental right it's uh
very beachy but for me it's a little bit
slow I've been to Hawaii only once but
it's a bit slow for me
um someone said La is very big and kind
of depends on where you live obviously
St Gabriel Valley is a gigantic Asian
region and you will experience things
over in the sgv that are different than
Westside La so when we say la maybe we
should be specific in what we're talking
about um if you're tip B and want to
chill then maybe more St Gabriel Valley
Orange County
Irvine but if you want to go get it and
still be close to a lot of Asians
obviously Westside La still has a lot of
Asians but it's just not like I wouldn't
say it's a Asian land out west side you
you have sawel but you know
uh another person said wait wait wa wait
what's wrong with Seattle I just moved
there but then again I'm not trying to
date since I'm already married and now I
think what's wrong with Seattle I think
Seattle
does
uh for the decade before I think Seattle
got a bad rep for Asian guys because
they were like oh it's uh you know
there's a Seattle free so it's hard to
network and kind of be kind of make
friends with the local Asians in Seattle
and then also oh there's a lot of like
uh White
man Asian female couples which Seattle
is known for I would say SF is known for
that too they're definitely the two
capitals of that so people generally
assume that if that interracial couple
is in high percentages then it's bad for
Asian guys right uh which there is
definitely logic and I would say Seattle
doesn't I don't know if it sucks anymore
but I will say this it doesn't have a
very robust NTI which nightlife usually
does help Asian guys in this sense also
maybe the reason why a lot of people
crap on Seattle is that the tech boom
has kind of made it the city center at
least a little bit more like San
Francisco which is generally seen as a
bad place for Asian guys dating at least
Asian transplants dating and uh yeah I
would say that's the general sentim
sentiment when it comes to Seattle so
it's not to say that you can't do well
in Seattle or that ultimately if you're
an attractive Asian guy you're probably
going to be fine anywhere but uh you
know maybe Seattle's better than it was
10 years ago so anyways uh someone else
said hey uh by the way I want to chime
in and say Washington DC is not very
great for an Asian guy uh if you're not
into the type a professional personality
types I've only seen like three Asian
guys in the past few month gone clubbing
uh even though I've done pretty decent
uh Washington DC is pretty white overall
so here's the funny thing if you go out
to the clubs in Nightlife and you go
to the popular nightlife areas and you
see very very few Asian
guys it's a sign it's a sign saying that
there's not to say that there's not
Asian guys in that City but that a lot
of Asian guys don't feel confident in
competing in The Nightlife realm and
nlife by the way I do want to say it's a
selective population it's usually a
taller group of people it's usually the
flashier more confident people yes I do
think that nightlife of course brings
out the baddies you you know the hatties
the ladies who are very appealing who
want to show out and get attention and
people who are very social so it plays
into that style of person so if you go
out to the big nightclubs and you don't
see any Asian
dudes in your area I mean it goes to
show you that the Asian dudes are doing
something else on a Friday Saturday
night you know clearly they don't they
don't feel confident enough to compete
with the rest of the people you know um
and they don't think it's going to be
worth their time so anyways uh don't
bother with Washington DC if you're not
a type A personality so this is my
overall take
um I do think the truth is like wherever
you find women that find you desirable
then it's probably a good sign that
you're going to have a decent social
life I know that they're not correlated
one to one but let's be
honest if women can find you attractive
that means even other people are going
to find you attractive in other ways
like if women really like you that in a
way does mean that other guys will find
you respectable will like you maybe in
that non-romantic way you know what I
mean so uh it kind of just means you're
appealing and you're cool and so I think
that that is something that you guys can
look for when you guys are thinking
about a different city one tip that I
would have is before you spend time in
any City or before you move to a certain
city and you're a single guy and you're
wondering how the dating life is set up
a solid dating profile and swipe in that
City swipe in that City for a week and
see what happens and that will be
symbolic it doesn't mean everything
because sometimes dating in person is a
lot you know some people are more
inperson guys who they just need to
approach a lot of women and and they're
just very socialable on in person and
maybe they aren't very photogenic for
example you know that's possible um so
but I would say that is just one thing
to gauge it on you know and if you get a
lot of matches somewhere I don't know
maybe that's a good sign you know if
women are immediately attracted to you
um I haven't spent a lot of time in
Hawaii but Hawaii obviously is a logical
step but I don't think Hawaii is
practical for a lot of people like to be
honest I'm not going to lie I think a
lot of people are not counting Hawaii
fully because it is so far off the
mainland but it is so different so any
place where like white guys feel
uncomfortable which maybe some white
guys feel uncomfortable in Hawaii from
what I've heard obviously it's probably
better for Asian
guys funny enough anyways it really
matters what you're uh adding to the
city and how you fit into that City's
culture
uh you know as someone who's lived in
Seattle La New York spent time in Hong
Kong Toronto and even spent time in
Shanghai if you are not plugged in to
any certain scene it's going to be hard
if you're like a transplant okay let's
say you're a tech transplant and you're
an engineer so your job is spent around
a lot of like other kind of nerdy
engineer people mostly guys then you're
left to fend for yourself in your social
life so you move to a new city and
you're immed getting on the apps but
maybe you don't do that well on the apps
maybe you're not super photogenic maybe
you're not you're not very good-look or
maybe you're not able to set up a good
profile or whatever it is so you're
relying on the apps to set up your
social life and then you have to go what
cold Approach at like you know bars and
clubs which may or may not uh you may or
may not have a lot of practice in or may
uh nowadays be perceived to be a little
bit more uh taboo I guess unfortunately
even though I think meeting people in
person is should still be the number one
way to do
it um but yeah then you're a Lone Ranger
and then you just have to be a very
strong and resilient person as a
transplant with no friends in that City
so I I think it is tough you know and
especially if that City doesn't have a
booming robust social life uh that you
can kind of like go in and kind of just
meet people at uh yeah it's tough um I
think that if you are granted a good
position at a big company that has like
men and women working at that company I
think I think that's not a terrible
place to start so wherever you get a
good job at a big diverse company I
think it is solid because that's going
to be immediately your social grounds
you know a lot of people they're going
to have outings or you know you're going
to meet other people who have stuff set
up you know you got to make friends at
the end of the day you have to be a
likable person even your co-workers to
be likable to the outside people because
if your co-workers think you're likable
they'll be like oh why don't you come
join me for this thing and then you meet
people there at their uh social
outings if you can get to know business
owners and bar or club Owners in those
cities that is also an advantage so this
is something that I've learned that if
you know business owners where they have
a lot a lot of patrons and they're part
of a community then that's not a bad
place to start either because you're
going to meet so many people through
that you know what I mean so being able
to add to people's lives that way you
know and and again like you know if
you're like a a graphic designer or
something I think on the side or if
you're a photographer I think that's a
great way to meet people and use your
talent and hobby or job to network where
you provide something of value to people
you can take photos for your for their
business or take photos for them and
network or like hey you're like hey let
me design something for you on the side
that can help you out um design a flyer
or something like that I think you would
just have to add value to the city that
you're going to if you can add value in
a city you will get some value back you
know that's the key thing remember this
a lot of people their transplants they
move to a city and they're like oh I
make
300K as a coder how come I'm not getting
any play well I'm like well you're not
really adding value to these Social
Circles so figure out a way um someone
also said yeah like you know yeah
there's places in the South where Asians
are not like dumped on you know I think
that if
you uh uh like Nashville Atlanta you
know obviously I think there's a lot of
Asians there's growing as populations in
those places so if you fit into that
type of Asian I think you should go
there but yeah overall my usual picks
would be New York and La just because it
has the options and diversity um big
Metro areas and uh New York is great for
type A guys that's all I'll say I think
La has both sides you could be type A
there and also type B and still live a
good chill life um so I think those are
it but of course again like I said
wherever you're plugged in if you're
plugged in in Houston check that out if
you're plugged in in Dallas check it out
if you're plugged into the scene in
Boston check it
out um again you're just gonna have to
add value to any community that you
become part of and uh I think that's
what a lot of transplants don't
understand you guys forget you just move
to a city and think oh everybody like me
I'm like dude you still got to show that
you want to be part of this city so yeah
add value where you can get plugged in
where you can that's my take uh overall
let me know what you guys think about
this video what are your other takes uh
every Asian guy is different and
provides something different and every
Asian guy has a different vibe so let me
know where you've succeeded at maybe
you've succeeded in Denver Colorado I
know there's a Vietnamese population out
there uh I wouldn't usually assume that
that's a place where Asian guys want to
move to for social reasons but who knows
maybe you did well
so let me know in the comments down
below until next time I'm out peace
