Bold Bakers, today I'm going to show you
how to make my magic bread.
Now why do I call it magic?
For a few simple reasons.
It is only six ingredients, you can mix
it by hand, it is no
yeast, and it's high protein.
It is the perfect bread.
Also it's delicious.
I'm going to show you how to make it with
a few simple ingredients.
We're going to start out with a few basic
ingredients that you
probably already have
to hand so you can make this bread today.
Here we have all-purpose flour, and
normally you don't see me
doing this, but I want it
to be a nice light bread, so we're going
to sift our ingredients.
Here I have some baking powder, this is
one of our raising agents.
We have milk in this bread and that's
going to help
activate that baking powder.
Now I also have some baking soda because
we have yogurt in this
bread and that's what's
giving us the protein, and we need the
soda to do the heavy
lifting with the yogurt.
And then lastly, some salt
because all bread needs salt.
And then we're going to sift those
ingredients together.
So those are our dry ingredients.
And now here's the superhero in this
bread, Greek yogurt, and
this is what gives it the
high protein.
Greek yogurt has higher protein than
plain yogurt, and it
has less carbohydrates.
But if you do want to use plain yogurt in
this recipe because
that's what you have to
hand, you can do that.
It also has B12, calcium, and vitamin A,
so it's a really
fantastic ingredient to bake
with.
And to this we're going to add in our
milk to thin out that batter.
Now like I said, no machine needed, we're
going to mix this all by hand.
So you can go in with
a spatula or a whisk.
So now you want to mix this until it just
comes together, just
like if you've watched
me make soda bread before, we don't want
to overwork this dough.
It is a quick bread.
You just want to hydrate that flour.
We are not beating, we're just combining.
Lovely.
Now this is the
consistency that we're going for.
It's quite a wet batter.
Here I have my 9x5 loaf pan.
We are going to get our
batter into our loaf pan.
So if you are new to bread making, this
is a fantastic recipe
for you to start out with.
You know, it teaches you about like just
over mixing, how simple
it can be to make a bread.
And then you can move on once you've
mastered this to like
yeasted doughs and then fermented
doughs and no knead
doughs and then sourdoughs.
But this is a fantastic bread to have in
the house for
sandwiches, a slice of toast, it
makes fantastic toast.
Once it's in the pan, just kind of level
it out with your spatula.
Brush the top with a little bit of milk.
This stops the top from baking too hard
and it also helps it
to become golden brown.
Fantastic.
Okay, no more talking into the oven.
Take your magic bread at 375 degrees
Fahrenheit, 190 degrees Celsius for
roughly 50 to 60 minutes.
It does take a little bit of time because
it's a big old loaf of bread.
My timer went off and my kitchen smells
delicious so I'm
guessing my bread is done.
You'll notice that your bread gets a
lovely golden brown on top.
I'm really thrilled
with this loaf of bread.
Really easy to pull together, just a
handful of ingredients
that you probably already have
in your kitchen.
Now, listen, I know the proof is in the
pudding so let's slice this guy.
Look at that, a lovely crumb, it's a nice
light bread and it's really soft.
And remember, this bread is high protein
so in every slice you
get 6 grams of protein
and not all breads can say that.
This is definitely a
better for you bread.
Thank you so much for watching.
