those who use her use her well she will
shelter you from the rain and keep you
from the cold and hopefully last until
we're
old it's November here in Nova Scotia
and it's arguably my favorite cabin of
all the Backwoods cabins that I've been
to it'll take an entire day to get there
of canoeing and portaging and it's
already 3:00 so I got to hustle because
I'm not even off the first Lake yet
I was enjoying myself on the big lake
getting some drone
shots enjoying the
views and I looked at my watch and it's
G to get dark in like an hour and a half
2 hours we'll say and I still have way
more than 2 hours of work ahead of me so
I'm going to have to Camp somewhere
along the way
Shoreline is not looking that good for
camping it's not it let got
it I think I found something
this actually works sick
that's the
wayo that's nice
feels good to be
here the water's
boiling and I'm just going with the
classic meal tonight simple Ramen but
Ramen just alone is not enough so I like
to Spruce it up with some protein and
some fats peanut butter jerky and
cashews I got this idea from my buddy
Tristan it's an awesome quick high
calorie meal
I made it extra soupy just cuz I'm a
little dehydrated and I thought I could
I could do with the extra
liquid all right
guys that's about it for me tonight
tomorrow I have a 2 km Portage and then
about 5 or 6 km of paddling I'm going to
get up with the
tomorrow and head to the
cabin see you guys
then morning guys
it's like 7:30 and still super
dark this is
awesome I'm so relaxed it's a perfect
temperature it's so peaceful with the
river right there and how flat and mossy
the site is
this has become one of my go-to shelters
for these late season trips when there's
no bugs it is just the ultimate vessel
and making a shelter out of it as well
is more
evidence I have a quick cold season
camping trick for you
guys these guys right here Camp booties
it's made of the same stuff as a puppy
jacket they are like a hug on your feet
they feel so nice they're so comfortable
they have a decent bottom not the best
grip but you're not going to soak your
feet if you're walking in damp
conditions got these a couple years ago
and I'll never go back I used to wear
Crocs in the winter which
sucked about 5 minutes ago a white
tailed deer ran behind the
campsite and it's a good reminder that
it is hunting
season and I should probably be wearing
more Hunter
orange but there are probably a lot of
hunters in the woods in very stealth
locations so I got to be extra careful
always wear my hat when I'm
traveling cuz I don't want to get shot
that would suck
it's a very light rain right now it's
drizzling the temperature is dropping
they originally weren't calling for rain
today but the sky
is there's no texture in the sky and
it's pretty dark for being like 9:30 I I
did bring a rain jacket but I didn't
bring rain pants or anything like that
so I am glad that I'm trying to get to
the cabin
today so if I do get wet I should be
able to uh dry
off this port Tage is about 2 km if I
remember correctly
that's three deer that I've seen this
morning
my hands are pretty
numb I have a little over an hour of
paddling on this Lake to get to the
cabin this one's really tucked up in the
woods so it's really hard to see from
the shore but there's a white marker and
I walk my eyes up a little
further and I see the peak of the
roof all right
amazing oh yes
[Music]
oh I got kind of cold as soon as I got
here
o there is no
pressure last time I repaired this I
must have not put the check valve in
properly because it popped out and it is
in there now I got to figure out how I
can get it out with with it being full
of fuel
guys you are going to believe it I did
not get this on camera but look at
this for
a little blue sky who would have think
it I ended up getting here at about 2:00
I started yesterday at around noon and
it's a full day to get from where I
started to
here so two half days I got here
I'm going to try something a little
different for dinner tonight I'm going
to try making homemade Yi all you really
need is potatoes flour and egg I did
forget salt and pepper though I'm going
to use this one bag of baby reds which I
think is equivalent to one potato
okay that's starting to look
better with this you want to make sure
it's all
pretty consistent size so it all Cuts so
it all Cooks
properly Now to turn these pieces of
dough into
noi by dimpling
it and because this is the back country
and we do things a little differently
around here we're going to be using the
bark of an Old Pine Tree to Dimple
uh it looks like gum someone spit out
and when I hit the ground it picked up
pieces of
gravel oh that one was pretty
good if I keep going over the same spot
a lot of that loose bark is already been
picked up it's making them a little
cleaner also find if I got to go loose
with it you know like just don't roll
it take some angles you know play with
it a bit have
fun it does pick up a little bit of
dimpling like don't get me wrong if you
order this at a restaurant and this is
what you got you think this is pretty
but for us out here it's not too
bad has a lot of
noi everything is pretty much set up for
dinner though it's probably going to be
another hour or so before I get hungry
so I'm G to celebrate being
here and I'm gonna read my book for a
bit I don't read often but I want to
start reading more it's been a goal of
mine for
years at home I've started supplementing
YouTube time with reading time and I
always bring a book with me though I
find I read it at the end of the day and
by that time I'm so tired that I just
read a page the book I'm reading right
now is called Barbarian days a surface
life I bet you guys didn't know that I
love
surfing it's one of my favorite pastimes
that I don't film I'm going to sit my
Scotch enjoy this lovely cabin
and hopefully read more than a
page cheers
[Music]
I've heard once they start floating you
know they're
good we're going with a pesto sauce
all right guys this is the bougie Back
Country wild nooki with a
Parmesan and pesto
sauce that's
solid it could definitely do with a
little salt but using Ed mashed
potatoes turned out really
well I ate that entire
thing that was a
lot well back to Barbarian days
I keep getting these weird
feelings Halloween was two days ago
and I don't know I'm just having this
these weird spooky vibes

hello who are you I am the Backwoods
Banshee what do you want from me I have
one question for
you
okay what is your
favorite tragically hip
song Silver
jet good
uh what in the hell was
that the plan tomorrow is I'm going to
get up at 6:00 and try to be on the
water for 8:00 a.m. and make it all the
way back to the car my thought is
tomorrow it's going to be windy and
cold so I'm going to slowly work my way
back and if I don't make it I can always
Camp that's it for tonight we'll see you
guys tomorrow
[Applause]
all right guys I'm going to do the
random page read for you from the log
book I'm not a big fan of this book cuz
the paper is sort of soft and uh the
writing isn't as clear on
it all right June 4th
2024 we made it but we almost didn't got
lost on the big lake but we redeemed our
eles with a stunning Sunset paddle on
the main Lake and found the cabin by 10
p.m. Weir was required wine was required
of course it was that was a long day
thank you for a lovely cabin and a
beautiful spot drywood was so very much
appreciated carlen carsten Rory and
Lyra 10 p.m. damn

Salon
cin until next time I have a long paddle
back to the car
today
I I wanted to get on the water for 8:00
to make best use of the daylight
today but I'm pretty sure Daylight
Savings Time happened last night cuz my
phone it just seemed oddly late for 7:00
this
morning so I might have just lost an
hour of daylight
look at all these
cranberries these are this year's
Harvest so they're not going to be plump
until the spring
but with these these are the same
consistency as you would find in the um
in the store and you can boil these down
and make cranberry sauce but the
Cranberries that over winter in the
spring they're they're soft enough that
you can just eat them off the
ground and not tasting so tart and and
crunchy but the birds also love these
guys they pick them apart and go in for
the seeds
