about getting a laser my first thought was safety we had four kids in the house pretty crowded and the last thing I wanted was to add an element of Danger first thing that I was thinking about when I was thinking about getting a laser was what is the biggest most powerful laser that Kim would let me get the xtool p2s has a lot of features packed into a compact space it has an onboard air assist it has onboard exhaust it even has the onboard water chiller and it's only 40 in wide 25 in deep and just 11 in tall perfect for any kind of tabletop surface safety is a big priority for xtool and some of the safety features on here will help put your mind at ease this has if you have kids in the household it has a automatic locking lid so if you're in the middle of a job this lid cannot be opened while the machine is running I mean not just kids there's been plenty of times where I'd forget and try to open it before it was actually done it also has an emergency stop button we've used this a time or two if something is cutting and you don't want it to cut and you don't want it to cut right then and there you can hit that emergency stop button and it'll stop what it's doing immediately it has multiple monitoring systems it's monitoring the motherboard temperature the cooling system water levels and more and if you're new to lasers there's so many guides and training videos out there that will help get you started you'll even have to take a safety training video before you ever start using the product and one of the new features of the p2s is a more efficient exhaust fan it has a dual layer booster fans with brushless motor technology which enhances the exhaust efficiency with a 14,000 RPM brushless motor including dual blades one sets pulling in dust while the other expels it resulting in exceptional exhaust performance and improved deficiency by 200% and lastly they're even add-on accessories they have a fire safety feature that will Auto detect a flame and extinguish it with some CO2 gas and I think that's a pretty cool new feature let's talk about user experience with the xtool p2s setup is super easy they provide you this quick start guide with photob by photo stepbystep instructions they even have a little QR code on the inside you can watch the video and go through setup step by step calibration was just as easy they have a video on how to do it and it was was a breeze and the user-friendly design makes it super easy for assembly and accessible for beginners with helpful guides and resources you can connect to the machine using Wi-Fi or USB and another great thing with the creative space software which is super userfriendly is you can use it offline so you do not have to be connected to the internet to use it the xtool p2s is also supported by Android Apple and Windows this desktop laser comes with its own software it's xtools creative space 2.0 which is some laser software that will help you operate your machine and will also let you do some basic design work on board the p2s has two cameras now having a camera was a big thing for me I thought I was going to need it for doing alignment I wanted to do precise placement on my materials and this machine actually has two cameras has a camera that will cover your canvas and give you General placement you know you're not going to miss your material but then it has a closeup View where I can really zoom in and I could probably write my name on a grain of rice with the that camera the close-up camera is actually on the laser head so it will move to the position that you're about to cut and be able to zoom in and get some really tiny engraving if you need it without that fish eyeing and because it has those two cameras it also has autofocus which was another big thing for me I wanted to be able to put my material in there and not have to do all of this manual focusing so I wanted it to be able to focus on my material without me doing anything and this has two forms of focusing again it'll focus on your canvas or you can use that same camera that's attached to the laser head and it'll use lidar some laser radar to measure the material precisely and if you're a new laser user being able to put in different materials without having to manually measure that focal height makes things so much easier you can put in an e/ in piece of birch move over to a/4 inch piece of acrylic all the way up to 2.7 in and have it autofocus the height if you're going to do some engraving with a larger object a little bit about the software the xtool creative space 2.0 it's great for beginners it accepts the typical file formats your dxf your SVG PNG jpegs but one of the best features of the xtool creative space is the settings they have a visual settings where you'll be able to see what your cut or engrave will look like before you actually attempt it it'll show you a material test card with different powers and speeds so that you know exactly what your engraving will look like and how deep dark or light you might potentially want that engraving another great feature that I love about creative space is it comes with so many different built-in designs you can pick a project know exactly what materials you should be using exactly what the cut speed power settings are and you there's no guesswork and you don't have to to go find your own artwork there are hundreds of designs out there submitted by other users so they already have the materials that you should use and they already have the settings built into the project xtool is really all about safety there are safety alerts inside the software as well when you first start to use the software it's going to prompt you to take a safety class on how to use your laser properly it will also alert you if they thinks you're going to run something too slow or too hot that may cause a flame it'll give you a warning before it'll let you proceed and once you get past those alerts the preview panel is great before you start your cut you can scroll through and see exactly what your cut path will look like and how long your job is going to take xtool also offers online tutorials for All skill levels great tutorials for new users but if you're looking to up your game your laser game and you want to try something that you've not tried before you can also find online tutorials that'll teach you some new tools and new features of your laser to advance your skill level exol also has a customer support team that will help you with any questions but one of the best features that I found with the xtool community are the xtool Facebook groups xtool offers them there are tons of other Facebook groups out there if you ever have a problem or a question or looking to do something new you can post out there in those Community forums and ask your questions and get 20 replies different ways people have done it and so you can try what works best for you X tools really thought about the end user when it comes to maintenance maintenance is toolless and very easy xtool provides routine cleaning and maintenance guides to ensure longevity efficiency including air assist maintenance laser calibration and exhaust some new features of the xtool p2s are quick release mirrors and a quick release exhaust fan which makes maintenance a breeze this fan easily pops out you can clean it out and pop it back in as well as the mirrors back to the speed and power this is a 55 W CO2 laser with a cutting area of 23.6 by 12 now if you're going to use the pass through it's 23.6 by about 10 ft it also includes Precision tracking which ensures cuts are accurate across the entire work surface and a new feature of the p2s is the Red Dot pointer when you have to align your mirrors that red dot pointer really comes in handy on really no where that laser beam is landing without having to pulse it you'll see we've already talked about the exhaust system but with the new p2s there's an upgraded air assist air assist is what's used to give yourself a clean cut when you're cutting through materials and the upgraded air the more air you can push through that nozzle the cleaner your cuts are going to be and with the new p2s there's an improved air assist it's got the double pump it's got a double pump air assist so you'll be getting 30% more air to your cuts and inra graes now this being a 55 W CO2 laser the material list that you can use in this thing is pretty much endless you can cut materials up to about an inch thick and you can engrave things up to about 2 and 1/2 in thick the material list is huge you can do wood you can do solid wood plywood mdfs you can do acrylic and the best thing about the CO2 laser is you can do clear acrylic colored acrylic frosted acrylic mirrored acrylic you can just do acrylics glitter acrylic you can also cut leather or engrave leather metal you can engrave metal business cards or metal surfaces you can do metal tumblers oh right I don't know how I forgot about tumblers it's my favorite thing yes you can also use it on other materials like Fabrics glass card stock paper one of the great things about the xtool p2s is this thing will grow with you so you may be a beginner and you're starting out with some basic projects but p2s also offers additional features that may be more advanced that you'll want to try in the future like a feature that you may not use in the beginning but you'll want to really quickly is the automatic pass through the p2s will allow you to cut 23.6 in wide but with the pass through rail system you can cut up to 10 ft long so if you want to do those cool porch leaners like you see us do a lot that automatic pass through is going to allow you to do that and it uses a conveyor system that's automatic unlike some other lasers that you'll have to realign it manually or rely on their software to realign it this is all one cut at one time using a conveyor it does make it convenient and as you become more adventurous and you want to engrave on more things you want to try some curv surface engraving the X tool p2s has advanced curv surface mapping it uses that laser radar that's on the head of the laser head it'll create a 3D map of your surface so it'll raise and lower the head as it goes across creating a perfect engrave one of my favorite xtool accessories is the ra2 pro rotary tool you can use this 4 inone rotary tool to do many types of rotary engraving you can do your tumblers you can do Rings you can do jewelry lots of different things you can do baseballs yes you can do round surfaces like a baseball because it has different ways it's going to hold your material not only that you can use the ra2 pro rotary tool in multiple machines it will work with the p2s but but as you grow you might be wanting the F1 or the F1 Ultra and the ra2 pro rotary tool will work with those machines as well another cool feature is the smartfill technology as you become more advanced you might be doing multiple objects that are the same let's say you're doing a bunch of keychains you can just lay them out on your bed without having to create a jig and it will auto sense where those objects need to be engraved and will do multiples of them at one time xtool is always releasing new versions of creative space we're now at 2.0 and with 2.0 came artificial intelligence so if you can't find an image you don't have an image or you're not that good at drawing you can use their AI software to create an image it will go ahead and optimize it for Engraving you can import it right into your canvas and
