Today we travel from Archer river to Elliot falls camping ground for the night. Cost was $14-50 for the night which has to be booked on line with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. On the way we stop at Bramwell Junction roadhouse and Fruit bat falls for a dip in one of the many rock pools and also sat under the water fall for a bit of nature massage. In all the road was good with a bit of corrugations which cause the antenna to vibrate loose so had to do a bit of quick repair before we headed into Fruit bat falls.
We pass many termite mounts on both side of the road and also notice that the trees on the left hand side is covered in red dust and the right hand side is green. This was cause by the wind blowing from right to left.
Elliot Falls camping ground is about 8km from Fruitbat falls and the road in was a bit corrugalated going to the camping ground but still was o.k. with a little water crossing that normally has a bit of water up to a meter from research(did not tell Kim as did not want to frighten her) but we had little water to cross, not enough to wet the wheels unless you drive left when you cross.
Here we set up the car for the night and had dinner of tomatoes and egg soup brought at Coen with spam and chips finish off with a can of coke.
It was not a hot night so we slept well with the fan on which stop around 11pm.
We were at camp site 16 which was a few site from the toilets but no shower but who needs it when we already had one under fruitbat falls.
It was a bit of a change for us as we stayed at motel up untill today.
Fruitbat falls is well worth the visit if you are up at the cape.
