Do you have a 2021-2022 Mazda CX-30, CX-5, CX-9, Mazda3 or Mazda6? If you've recently noticed that your car's engine is consuming unusually high amounts of gas and always needs frequent oil refills, then you're in luck! That's because Mazda has reached a settlement with owners of some of its vehicles over the issue of excessive engine oil consumption.
Why is this happening?
It's because a part inside the engine of these vehicles, called a “valve seal,” had a design flaw that caused oil to leak from the engine, resulting in excessive oil consumption.
What is Mazda doing about it?
Mazda is offering the following remedies to compensate owners for their losses:
Free Repair: Mazda will replace the defective valve seals on eligible vehicles free of charge to solve the problem of excessive oil consumption.
Extended Warranty: Mazda will extend the engine warranty on these vehicles for added peace of mind.
Reimbursement: Mazda will also reimburse you if you have incurred additional costs due to frequent oil changes in the past.
What can I do to get reimbursed?
Check your model: Your vehicle must be a 2021-2022 CX-30, CX-5, CX-9, Mazda3 or Mazda6.
Confirm Excessive Fuel Consumption: If you've recently noticed that your car's engine is consuming an unusual amount of fuel, visit a Mazda service facility as soon as possible for a checkup.
Make an application: If your vehicle is eligible, you can make an application to Mazda and provide relevant supporting documents.
