This is Scott Moore from Whack Outdoors. We've been out here turkey hunting in a big creek bottom
here and this is the fourth morning I've hunted the same gobbler. The water's gotten warm enough
the last three mornings I've paddled in here to hunt this turkey. I've been seeing a lot of gar
and a lot of carp in this creek so we're not going to fight it. The turkey's not cooperating
I know the gar and the carp will cooperate so what we're going to do
we're going to get rid of this
I'm going to get my shoot through fishing bow reel taped onto my bow. I got a fishing arrow here with
a good bar point on it that screws off and we're going to put this together real quick. I can hear
a bunch of carp back behind me feeding and spawning along the bank. There's a little pool right down
from us here where I saw some gar yesterday so we're going to try to ease over here and see if
we can't shoot some fish.
I've got a traditional bow hunting tip for you guys that are hunting with recurves and long
bows. A lot of times you're in your stand waiting on game to come to get a shot and you want to be
at the ready. I was doing the same thing here waiting on these fish and if you notice right
here I've got a pocket sewn on to the inside of the knee of my left pant leg of my pants. I've got
this pocket sewed into every pair of hunting pants that I own. When I'm in my tree stand and don't
want to hold my bow at the ready for a long time I slide the lower tip into that pocket that way
you can sit and hold your bow for hours and hours without any fatigue to your hands or your arms
and you'll be ready to shoot when you get that opportunity. I hope you enjoy this tip and you
can use it to your advantage. Well I hope you enjoyed watching that. Obviously there's a lot
of carp in that backwater behind me. They're still back there. I'm just going to leave and go to the
house. These carp are an introduced species. There are obviously way too many of them. When the bass
and other game fish are spawning they spend most of their time sucking the eggs up out of the beds
of these game fish. They're an invasive species. They need thinned down and that's what we was
working on doing this morning. So I hope you enjoyed that and we'll catch you next time on
Whack Outdoors. This is Scott Moore.
