is watermelon hydrating or is it a myth
well everyone assumes it's hydrating
because we all know this thing is full
of 92 to 95% water so it must be
hydrating but actually watermelon may
only quench your thirst temporarily and
that's because it's loaded with
pottassium which has a diuretic effect
that ultimately promotes urination
leading to dryness still it is a great
thing to eat watermelon especially
esally in the summer because watermelon
is still Cooling and anti-inflammatory
so it's going to flush heat and
inflammation out of the urinary tract
which is helpful for
utti it's also super helpful if you're
somebody with water retention or edema
as the diuretic effect from watermelon
will help you flush out that excess
water and that's because pottassium as
well as magnesium phosphorus folate and
calcium are all present in watermelon
and these are electrolytes and that
means that the electrolytes will help
the water absorb into your cells better
than if you just had water so watermelon
has a benefit definitely it has
electrolytes but it also has a diuretic
effect so you're getting nutrients into
your cells you're getting those minerals
into your cells but you might be losing
excess water so enjoy watermelon but
also enjoy water side by side that's it
for today
