The Image of AFRICA has been DISTORTED around the WORLD & We are CHANGING the NARRATIVE via YOUTUBE videos One Country At Time.Until the HISTORY of AFRICA is told by AFRICANS, the story of GREATNESS will always GLORIFY the IMPERIALISTS!. We are currently in the 6th Region Of Africa which is the AFRICAN DIASPORA to CONNECT the Dots by Bridging the gap between Africans across the Globe
traveling to the Caribbean from Africa
is definitely one of the best things
that I've ever done and that is why this
video means a lot to me so I'm going to
request on each and every one of you to
like this video subscribe to be part of
this awesome Channel and most
importantly share this video because I
believe that every single African needs
to get a piece of this
Vlog one of the biggest impression that
the media have created in the minds of
Africans is definitely misinformation in
other words miseducation are you an
African living in
Africa what do you think of
[Music]
Jamaica do you ever thought that places
like this exist in Jamaica no just just
just be honest with me I'm not the only
one who was scared of going to Jamaica I
believe that you were also lied about
Jamaica I mean I've seen people that
were so shocked after seeing my Vlogs
from Jamaica tell me that they can't
believe that that's how friendly
Jamaicans are I just met a new YouTuber
hi hi I'm
fine you know tell us one thing that
people don't know about Jamaica Jamaica
is a nice place to live you have the
beautiful beach the river the
everything food
wow they drink say drink this is plum
juice Plum juice yes and I know you're
going to ask me if
amen definitely so enjoy yourself and I
will see you again God meeting you thank
you I am always fascinated by Jamaica I
think they are just 3 million but the
global personalities that come out of
there Colin power Kam Cala Harris Bob
Marley Jimmy Cliff was boat but I was in
London for 12 years and some times you
get the impression Jamaica is a
rough uh criminalized Society where you
are not safe uh in in London they would
talk about yardis yardis Jamaican gangs
and you just get this notion that when
you go to Jamaica you have to be extra
[Music]
careful the misinformation that most
Africans living in Africa things of
Jamaica is Gang
violence I mean you went there and I was
love loving it when you were saying look
look I'm here and I'm going there and
here I feel safer in Jamaica than
anywhere else in the world and that's
what I'm telling you that it's okay for
you to come and visit Jamaica it's okay
for you to come and explore Jamaica
without thinking that everywhere in
Jamaica is just GH so I mean we are not
saying that any country is is crime free
but the notion created that oh there are
people smoking weed and doing criminal
things as if that is all Jamaica is
about uh if if you if you go to Jamaica
with a cruise then it's like you have to
stay within a resort area something
would happen to
[Music]
you within Jamaica some Jamaicans even
thinks that the entire continent of
Africa lives in poverty yeah that's true
how did you know that oh I see it on
YouTube I see the people what are
starving and you know that's that's a
lie seriously in
Africa I won't blame them I would
definitely blame the media because that
is what they've done to disconnect us
that is what they've done to divide
us y you're Jamaican B and grow but you
said you're a True Believer of Africa
when do you think of Africa man man
that's the food basket for the world and
you know the exploitation that's going
on over there really is detestable I
don't like it I do not like it it hurts
hurts here you know yeah when I see
African Brothers come here it Delights
me you see that we actually trying to
come together how proud are you as an
African very proud I don't want to be
anything else and I am super super
excited to be on this journey to change
that narrative to let you know that we
are just one people to let you know that
we are all Africans and that is why I am
telling you it's about time you
subscribe to be part of this channel
because I want us to make a history I
want us to get to know each other I'm
glad that you went and debanked that
meth I know you didn't uh stay too long
but the impression you gave is you were
not there looking behind you afraid that
somebody was going to attack you snatch
your phone or shoot you or do something
bad so we we need to change these
perceptions that that are there which
are not good and I'm glad you love
Jamaica and you think it's the best
place on earth
[Music]
now and as we get to know each other I'm
also requesting you all to come visit
the motherland come and enjoy the
motherland and yeah I this was so
thought I could control it but if I
speak the truth I hate over
[Music]
you we we are we are currently driving
through one of the richest neighborhood
in Kingston and the houses that I'm
seeing is really mindblowing the fact
that these are not Resort neither hotels
but individual houses look at
that that's that's that's a whole
mansion man like I said there is always
two sides of a
[Applause]
coin so I decided to take a stroll in
the beautiful part I mean yeah they say
this is one of the richest neighborhood
in Kingston Jamaica I believe that this
is the place that many of you don't see
on TV and believe me or not I'm super
impressed with the kind of houses that
I'm seeing in here as I stroll in here
it's kind of calm safe well organized
they got trees everywhere the buildings
are actually on the Hills that's why
they call this place Beverly Hills but
let me tell you something that will blow
your mind the houses that you see in
here feels like a resort or a
hotel whenever we do such videos you see
comments like that is just
1% which country on Earth has no 1% it's
about time for us to celebrate the 1% of
every country that we go to and that is
why I am here if you are not going to
celebrate them I have decided to
celebrate the one person that works so
hard to be able to live the life like
this I feel like if you live in this
neighborhood you're definitely going to
grow older because listen the entire
neighborhood is filled with greens
you're actually living on a hill what
else do you want to ask for I mean
you're not just living on a Hill but
right next to you is the ocean so you
get a chance to enjoy the fresh Breeze
from the ocean and you get a chance to
enjoy the panoramic view right on top of
the hill listen welcome to Beverly
Hills here in Kingston Jamaica I'm well
prepped I have on my shades what are my
uh is a complete opposite cuz the sun in
Kingston is hotter than the sun in Ghana
yes yes so you guys I am Alicia Powell I
am married to asafa Powell I moved to
Jamaica 2019 officially also you know
I'm born in Ghana but um initially I
lived in Toronto and I lived in New York
before I moved here okay funny enough um
I find Kingston to be a lot more slower
paced than New York was obviously you
know but I think the narrative is very
similar to Africa when we were getting
married um in 2019 we had some guests
that actually never showed up because
they were told if they come into Jamaica
they're going to get kidnapped there was
a lot of crimes yeah and funny enough it
was actually from fellow you know it's
always your people that always you know
so fellow black people that's what she's
trying to say yeah yeah so um they never
showed up and I think that narrative
reminded me so much of the narrative
about Africa how we're starving um we're
poor where this so it's the same concept
similar that people think crime you
think this but it's such a beautiful
place people are happy Beautiful People
beautiful culture beautiful music
amazing food I mean like it speaks for
itself you know look where we are man is
this Soo part of Jamaica yes so we're
actually this is in Kingston we live in
Beverly Hill so this is like our
neighbor it's also Beverly Hills it's
really you think of um Beverly Hills in
LA right so you're living up in the hill
it overlooks the city you have an
amazing view um it's just like it's a
piece of mind I think it's not just the
view but the kind of buildings that you
see in here y my goodness very modern
houses this this is not a Jamaica that I
saw on TV though right see so you see
The Narrative of what I'm saying right
[Music]
yeah I guess I guess we need to start
showing people this part of Jamaica I
mean you can live in Jamaica just like
the way you live in the US you live in
the UK wherever you find yourself it's
all about how you see things right I
think for me um we say the American
dream and I think the American dream can
happen wherever you're at it just
depends on your work ethic you know what
I mean surrounding yourself with people
that can not get you there but that
inspire you as well right um I think we
have the narrative that we we're told
that we can't be in our own country and
become a king in our own country right
nothing wrong with the American dream
but you can accomplish it where you're
at as well and I love I've told you this
I love the fact that as black people
we're changing the narrative and you're
taking control of the story how it's
being told how our country is being
portrayed how our culture is being
portrayed so again look look how modern
the houses are everything man people are
living large here man yes I mean the the
houses that I'm seeing here some of you
living in America in the uh in the UK
canot even afford yet no you
can't I was living in the states I just
moved back to Jamaica oh okay yeah what
brought you back to Jamaica man the
state is a scam
[Music]
bro what do you mean it's a scam you
scammed I mean all right at the time no
one could tell me not to go to the
States because I didn't know right I
mean I used to be able to travel back
and forth but to live there I've never
done that and at the time things were
kind of hard in Jamaica so I was just
like let me see you know if I can do it
in the states I'm a hard worker but man
the harder you work in the states is
like the worst life
gets it's like the more money you make
um I don't know it just it's like it's
it just feels like a constant Chase
whereas here you know I know everybody
here like I know a lot of people here
this is where I was born and raised you
know I mean yeah it's tough all around
however it's a bit better here because
at least I get to enjoy it with my
family and you know and the good weather
and it's just a better it's just a
better Vibe and the fact that when you
play home games you you score more goals
oh yeah all the
time yes so there is opportunity here
there's money to be made here everything
is just find something where people you
have a niche for and people are in need
of and you'll be you'll be good you know
and I guess I need to tell you welcome
to the part of Jamaica where the rich
Heights
man so as part of showing you the
Jamaica you don't see on TV as part of
showing you where the rich boys live in
Jamaica
want to be rich boys yay I finally met
one of the rich
boys
you how do you feel living in a
neighborhood like
this well I don't really feel any way
special it's just a young boy from the
country who had ambition worked hard did
well studied hard and involv in business
and many things and uh this is where you
know I am for now so I'm happy that I'm
in a safe relatively comfortable
neighborhood but yeah that is what hard
work does for you it pays off yeah so
I'm so glad the hard work paid off but
you know what I really want to show me
around and I got so many questions so
first question in terms of cost of
living I mean living in this
neighborhood how much will it cost me to
own a plot of land in here okay so a
quarter acre plot of land so probably
what I should do is just to show you an
empty lot so let us stand at this empty
lot beside all
[Music]
right so this blot of land is about
quter acre and I would say it costs
about 50 million Jamaican dollars so
which is about in terms of US dollars I
would say it's
about about 3 about
300,000
$350,000 okay yeah so just for the
cutter plot just for this before you
start building yes before you start
building this is indeed yeah the place
that the rich boys live is this the most
expensive neighborhood in Jamaica in
Kingston no it's one of them but it's
not the most expensive it's one of them
it's one of them but you see what
happens to this area is very close to
the US embassy it's very close to a lot
of areas so you're going to find that an
area like this is very expensive and
it's going to be very premium as well to
live in and what are the people that
lives in here oh well I would say mainly
professional persons all right you have
persons from Academia business persons
as well so yeah most of these persons
here are people from Academia business
person persons who have done well in
terms of business academics or something
like that so okay you are a university
Professor yes I'm a university lecturer
in chemistry at the University of
Technology now that I know where the big
boys live in Jamaica I get experience
the big boy lifestyle in Kingston so I
decided to book a place and shockingly
it actually home away from home welcome
to
aquaba and guess where aquaba is from
aquaba is from Ghana and you might be
wondering why the name aquaba in
[Music]
Jamaica aquaba aquaba came about from my
love for Africa my love for Ghana in
particular I remember as a young man I
went to Ghana first time for 3 weeks and
I ended up spending 3 months next time I
went there for one month and I ended up
spending the year and I get to learn of
the love of the African people I get to
learn of my love for African people and
I came back to Jamaica and decided to go
into the irban be business and I thought
what a wonderful name like aaba that
means welcome so ends the name aquaba
aquaba is the place that you come to as
a guest you leave as a friend and when
you come back you come back as family so
please come to
aquaba come to aquaba but but one thing
that I I really want people to know that
where aquaba is located is more like the
luxury neighborhood in Jamaica this is
the other side of Jamaica that people
don't see yes this this is in Kingston 6
this is where the Prime Minister and ASA
Po and the rest of the so-called upper
Cross of Jamaica lives but the rest of
Jamaica is also safe and beautiful we
have been around Jamaica and it's been
safe wherever we go Jamaican people are
wonderful
people know aquaba hereb and that's the
place to be anytime you come to Jamaica
check it out watch
VI everything in this house is super
huge from the living room I mean in the
living room you got your dining table
and what makes this house so unique for
me is the views that you get oh my
goodness it seems it seems like living
your best life in here man just enjoying
the view he just enjoying the view and
then the hous is on top up here what
will you say about Jamaica man I mean I
don't want to go you don't want to go no
can we just stay here can we just move
to Jamaica me you started speaking part
so you good you can stay in Jamaica for
the rest of your life on I'll teach
you hey you see
me I see you
whenever you stay in aaba you get a
chance to you know exercise with the you
know the rich boys that lives in here so
I think um I love networking so I'm not
going to stay here this morning it's
Saturday morning come along with me
let's go work out I I believe that I
help I meet the Prime Minister from the
hills man I know you might bump into a s
exercising in the morning he always
exercises in the morning it what it is
come along with me let's
[Music]
[Applause]
go good to see you good to see you too
you're the one who's going to train us
today yep please I I just need a very
shallow training this morning they call
it light training man it is light I'm
going to walk you through a system okay
and I think it's very important that uh
that everybody has a system that can
keep them fit m
[Music]
we made it to the peek man is it a is it
a first PE or is the final peek you got
still got more Peaks no this is it we're
just going to go probably another 2
minutes up
there but this is the lookout so that's
the Mona Dam right there that's where we
get most of the water the water from
most of Kingston and St Andrew and stuff
like that comes from is res Reservoir so
sometimes it gets really low and so we
have lock offs and stuff like that so we
have to hope for it to rain and thing
but yeah
that's man view from up here yeah you're
looking at you're looking at downtown
Kingston as
we jog to the peak you see beautiful
houses along the stretch man I feel like
um Jamaicans love to live on the Hills
man h G is 10 m away from the city oh
okay best place to dwell you heard that
right and so it's um but often time this
is kind of hill where everybody comes
you see all the politicians all the
entertainers at some point in time
everybody gets on
this then we run back to your spot and
you're going to just basically touch
your toes take a deep breath in touch
your toes
eight
yeah
eight seven for
two and then just release and just come
and stretch down here stretch straighten
that front leg as much as you
can straighten that front leg and get
that stretch for
three looking over the front fingers
you're going to release that breath bend
the
knees push back in the heels pull up on
the thighs pull your belly button in
tuck your tailbone and breathe in for
three three for two and out the
[Music]
road right after workout all you need is
coconut water
[Music]
man this is a part of Kingston
8 okay so the richest one of the richest
neighborhoods in
Jamaica so as you go closer to the
hillside this is a preferred area for
the guys with real money to live so
talking about like real money what do
you mean real money real real real
meaning that you're you're very you you
basically own business own manufacturing
companies because to own wealth you need
to be able to be producing producing
something okay wealth is not just by
being a lawyer or doctor you need to own
a company that produces something a
factory or something so those are the
people who own real weal the guys who
have a factory you know who own a bank
or something like that so you look at
those apartment look at that okay the
houses in here are super crazy man
wow do you see this on TV wow is this
Jamaica
[Music]
[Applause]
what you really tell people that that
would tell people that Jamaica is not
safe you know what last year 3 million
tourists from the United State came to
Jamaica and they had three no five major
incident from 3 billion people I leave
you to do the mats I hope this video
changed the perception that had for
Jamaica I mean let me know what you
think after watching this video and if
you haven't booked that ticket yet
please book the ticket right now visit
Jamaica and believe me or not your life
will never be the same welome to Jamrock
and enjoy your stay peace out
[Music]
