Before the sun rises, clouds of mist often form over Lake Thun. Some form over the lake in the direction of Thun, some seem to arise out of nowhere. I like to watch the wisps of fog. How their shape and colour changes in these early morning hours.

For many years, we lived at 925m above sea level. Winter was long, spring very short, summer mild, autumn earlier than in the lowlands and winter came quickly. When we moved to Lake Thun, we saw the full splendor of the spring flowers. Here the lake warms the surroundings and spring comes early. In this video you can see one of the first spring flowers of this year 2023.

In floral language, the snowdrop can mean: "From your gaze shines the purity of your heart." Another meaning of the snowdrop is "to offer comfort".

The snowdrop heralds the end of the cold winter and the beginning of spring.
