From Boardroom to Big Screen: Trump's Apprentice Film Shines at Cannes

A biographical film centered on the early years of Donald Trump will be showcased at the upcoming 77th Cannes Film Festival.

The Apprentice, a film directed by Iranian Danish filmmaker Ali Abbasi, features Sebastian Stan, known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as a young real estate mogul before his rise to fame in reality television and politics. The film has been selected to compete in the main category of the festival taking place in the south of France from May 14–25.

The upcoming movie derives its name from the immensely famous NBC reality program, which propelled the future president of the United States into the forefront of popular culture during the mid-to-late 2000s.

The film is characterized as an examination of power and ambition against a backdrop of corruption and deceit. It features Jeremy Strong, an Emmy Award-winning actor known for his role in the TV series Succession, portraying Roy Cohn, a New York City lawyer and influential right-wing political figure who mentored Donald Trump until his death in 1986.

During a recent interview, the highly sought-after actor, who is presently performing in Broadway's production of Enemy of the People, referred to the part as his "most captivating" thus far.
