Taiwan's strongest earthquake in 25 years: nine were killed, dozens trapped in highway tunnels

According to the US Geological Survey, the powerful 7.4-magnitude quake struck the island's east coast, south of Hualien City, at 7:58 a.m. local time on Wednesday, April 3. Its impact caused multiple strong aftershocks across Taiwan.
