2020年6月10日，编号为11001的由台湾自主研发的新一代先进喷气式高级教练机T-5“勇鹰”，在台中清泉岗机场正式首飞。中国台湾航空工业发展公司继而在2021年3月2日宣布将此教练机移交给台湾空军，T-5“勇鹰”进入到操作测试和评估阶段。
宣布这个消息当天，台湾航空工业公司董事局主席胡启雄，特意驾驶这架T-5“勇鹰”亮相。当天他驾驶了12分钟，针对这架飞机，他给出了非常满意的评价，认为T-5“勇鹰”是可以超出了公众期望的。而T-5“勇鹰”从研发到投入测试阶段，确实一直备受台湾当局的关注。台湾智库的某研究员曾称，“勇鹰”一旦研发成功，将是全球目前最先进的第五代教练机，台湾航空工业也将迎来崛起时刻。
On June 10, 2020, the T-5 "Yong Eagle", a new generation of advanced jet advanced trainer aircraft with the number 11001, made its maiden flight at Qingquangang Airport in Taichung. China's Taiwan Aviation Industry Development Corporation subsequently announced the transfer of the trainer aircraft to the Taiwan Air Force on 2 March 2021, and the T-5 Yong Eagle entered the operational test and evaluation phase.
The announcement was made on the same day that Hu Chi-hsiung, chairman of the board of Taiwan Aviation Industry Corporation, specially piloted the T-5 Yong Eagle. He flew for 12 minutes that day and gave a very good review of the aircraft, saying the T-5 Eagle can exceed public expectations. The T-5 "Brave Eagle" from research and development to put into the test stage, indeed has been the concern of the Taiwan authorities. A researcher from a Taiwan think tank once said that "Brave Eagle" once successfully developed, will be the world's most advanced fifth generation trainer aircraft, Taiwan's aviation industry will usher in the rise of the moment.
