Once upon a time, Boeing had an unmatched reputation for quality and safety. “If it’s not Boeing, I’m not going,” used to be an expression to express the trust passengers and airline crews placed in the aircraft maker’s quality.
Everybody also expected that the company could bring similar feelings to astronauts in Nasa's commercial crew program or CCP.
However, over the years, Boeing has been losing its reputation for safety and quality.
The deadly 737 incidents are still a nightmare for the whole aviation. The CST-100 Starliner spacecraft that Boeing designed to carry astronauts to and from the ISS under CCP isn't more reliable.
It continuously encountered serious problems for a decade that prevented its first crew flight happen.
When recently Nasa announced that they and Boeing were preparing for the first crewed test flight of the Starliner to launch this year, instead of feeling excited, many people, including me, felt worried for the astronaut's fate in the upcoming mission.
Why risk it? Boeing Starliner is about to launch its first crew...
