Nasa just Exposed How Dream Chaser Heat Shield is Better than SpaceX Dragon...
Having failed to compete with SpaceX for the next phase of Nasa's Commercial Crew Program in 2014 prompted Sierra Space to develop the Dream Chaser spaceplane capable of surpassing the SpaceX Dragon.
Over the past few years, under Nasa's commercial resupply program, this space plane has undergone a long development process and extremely harsh tests to become the most powerful vehicle in the world.
One area in particular that has been a main focus for the company has been its intricate heat shield.
This is considered one of the most difficult problems in developing reusable vehicles. Nasa's retired space shuttle encountered a host of issues related to this system, some of which even led to fatal accidents.
SpaceX also sometimes has headaches with TPS errors on Dragon.
So, how does Sierra Space Dream Chaser solve this problem?
Can Dream Chaser's TPS beat SpaceX Dragon?
Find out everything in today's episode of TechMap.
