I often think about life's questions when I'm out filming. Yesterday I remembered an experience that I would like to share with you.

Once, while driving, I asked myself the question: "What would a society look like where everyone thought of others first?"

I hadn't finished thinking about it when I saw the lorry in front of me slow down sharply to give way to a public transport bus, even though it had no right of way. The bus drove about 20 metres and then gave way to a lorry with a trailer turning from a side road onto the main road. The lorry stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross the road, even though there was no pedestrian crossing, it was not far away and the pedestrian should have crossed there.

A smile crossed my face. My question had been answered. No one had thought of their right, everyone thought of the other first. The lorries don't want to slow down because they need a lot of fuel to get going again, the public bus wants the right of way because it has to keep to its schedule. And a lorry with a trailer is even less likely to stop than one without. After all this had happened in front of my eyes, the traffic returned to normal. No one thought of the other first and everyone looked out for their own advantage...

This really was a special way of getting an answer to my question. I won't soon forget that wonderful feeling of everyone thinking of each other first.

我還沒有想完，就看到前面的貨車為了讓公交車先行，即使它沒有優先權，也急劇減速。公交車開了大約20米，然後讓一輛從側路拐到主路上的帶掛車的貨車先行。貨車停下來讓行人過馬路，即使那裡沒有行人過路的斑馬線，而且不遠處就有，行人本應該在那裡過馬路。

我的臉上露出了微笑。我的問題得到了回答。沒有人考慮自己的權利，每個人都先想到了別人。貨車不想減速，因為它們重新啟動需要大量的燃料，公交車想要優先權，因為它必須按時刻表行駛。而帶掛車的貨車停下來的可能性甚至比不帶掛車的貨車還要小。在這一切發生在我的眼前之後，交通恢復了正常。沒有人先想到別人，每個人都只顧自己的利益……

這真是一種特殊的方式來回答我的問題。那種每個人都先想到對方的美妙感覺，我不會很快忘記。
