Jiaotai Hall is located in the inner court, between Qianqing Palace and Kunning Palace. Among the many palace names in the inner court, the name of Jiaotai Palace stands out particularly! Because this Jiaotai Hall is where the queen handles harem affairs, especially in the Ming Dynasty, this function was particularly obvious. In the Qing Dynasty, the function of "Jiaotai Hall" was still related to the queen.

The Jiaotai Hall is when the emperor appoints the queen. The queen has to go to the Jiaotai Hall to receive the title and treasures belonging to the queen. And one day in the second month of the spring of that year, the queen would go to the Silkworm Altar to hold the "Silkworm Kissing Ceremony" to worship the Silkworm God. The queen would also go to the Jiaotai Hall to inspect her tools. There is also the New Year's Day every year, the day after the Winter Solstice, and the Queen's birthday. The Queen accepts the harem concubines and other noble ladies here to perform "Six Sus, three kneels and three bows" to the solemn music. .

On the other hand, the nature of Jiaotai Hall is also a bit complicated. In addition to being a place where the queen handles harem affairs, it also has a place similar to a treasure house. In the Jiaotai Hall, there are 25 objects covered with bright yellow cloth, each with a treasure box inside. Each treasure box contains a sacred emperor's seal, which is called a seal.

Among the types of emperor's seals in the Jiaotai Hall, except for the "Emperor's Treasure" which is made of sandalwood and the "Emperor's Treasure of the Qing Dynasty" which is made of gold,
Others are made of high-quality jade materials. Except for the "Emperor's Treasure" in Qingyu, which is written in Manchu, the rest of the seal's text is written in both Manchu and Chinese. The purpose of these seals is to be used within the royal family, such as when the emperor ascends the throne, when he is appointed as the prince,
It is used to give the Queen Mother an insignia, or to issue edicts and decrees, and is used in military, judicial, religious, reward, foreign countries, etc.

There is also an attic-style "self-ringing bell" and a stepped "copper kettle dripper" in the Jiaotai Hall. They are all time-telling tools of the "Qianqing Palace".
