There are many reasons to use extension cords outside and you want the connections to be secure and keep moisture out. The CordSafe+ is a great solution!
We don’t “pitch” products, but when we find a great solution to a common problem many homeowners face, we like to get the word out!
The CordSafe+ extension cord connector and safety cover is a simple, cost-effective, wholly American-made product. It is manufactured in the U.S. by a certified women’s business enterprise.
The adjustable connector fits up to #12AWG single-tap cords. After disassembling the unit, the included plug protector gasket is placed on the male end of the cordage. The cord is pressed into the shell gasket on both sides, the cords plugged in, and the shell closed around the two joined cord ends.
The shell can be adjusted length-wise to accommodate various lengths of plug-end sheaths.
The water-resistant shell will prevent the cord ends from coming apart, even if significant tension is applied. The gasket on the male end of the plug helps keep the actual prongs and receptacle side dry.
They are available in white, black, and green. You can get them from:
The CordSafe is available in single, 3-pack, and 20-pack quantities. At the time of the filming of this episode, a single was right at $8, a 3-pack right at $16 ($5.33 each), and a 20-pack was $79 ($3.95 each).

Just Do It Yourself!
Hey, Dirt Farmer Jay here from DirtFarmerJay.com.
From time to time, we acquire products for around the house,
the yard, the garden, or the garage,
that we think might be great solutions
for legitimate problems
that you or your family encounter.
Well, this is a timely one
because it is fall, getting close to the holidays.
We came across this little product
called the CordSafe Plus,
and what it promises is to hold electrical cords together
and do so in a way that is water resistant.
For those of you that have outdoor entertainment areas,
party or bistro lights,
let's suppose decorations, yard art,
all those kinds of things
that you're running a temporary extension cord to,
this could be extremely handy.
It also could be very handy
if you're in the construction trades,
you're stringing out cords to power something,
and up to 12 gauge wire can be used with these,
and this allows the ends to be connected together
without you tying a loop
and tying the ends together and all that.
Just putting these together
gives you a longer run that is secure.
Well, let's take this apart
and take a look and see how it works
and whether we think it's a good recommendation for you.
The CordSafe Plus comes packaged very simply,
bundled together like this,
almost mini football type of thing,
and everything you need in it is ready to go.
So when you undo the plastic and cut that apart,
what you end up with is two assemblies
plus a gasket that fits right on the male end
of a standard extension cord
that is a grounded extension male end.
You begin with the side that has serrations on the side,
and this is what allows you to adjust lengthwise
of the whole unit depending on the length
of the cord shrouding and all that around the plugs.
So we're gonna start,
we'll put the female end over inside of there like this.
We're gonna go ahead and close this around it
and pop it shut.
So there you've got that protected inside of here.
Now, the next thing we're gonna do then,
I'll just use the opposite end of the same cord.
We're gonna go ahead and put the gasket on here
that helps resist water getting down in between the two.
So you don't have to be super precise
because it's gonna press together when we put it together.
And then what you're gonna do is go ahead
and plug it in to the other side
and press it together really tightly
so that the gasket, as you can see,
is really compressed in between both ends.
Put that back all the way home.
Now, take the other side and bring it up
as close as you can to the base
of the plug shroud right here.
And when you do so, lay it in the gasket tray,
shut this around it,
and now you're gonna adjust this in and out a little bit
until that closes and clasps.
And when you do, that's what you have.
Now, I'm pulling really hard on that, okay?
And it won't come apart.
The water resistance really comes from
that gasket's inside.
The gaskets on the end help from water from flooding in.
But the longer the cord assembly is,
the tougher it is to hold that shut.
If this was all the way here,
it would probably hold it in shut very tight.
But as it is, if I was to drop this into full water,
it would fill up in there.
But what are you doing putting your cords
in full water like that?
What this is really doing is securing it
and that gasket is keeping it right out of there.
I think overall, this is a good design.
It's not waterproof and it never claims to be,
but it's a great way to secure those cords.
And if it's not laying in water, it'll work really well.
So suspended or perhaps you put it on a block
or something that keeps it out of water or out of the snow,
then I think this will work really well.
They come in different colors.
This one happens, of course, to be white.
The other colors that we acquired were green,
which is really nice for holiday lighting, green cords.
And of course, the quintessential black cord color
so that these are discreet and easy to use.
Pretty intuitive.
What you'd expect to pay for these.
Well, if you buy them single from fliproducts.com,
and we have that link in the back,
you're gonna pay about right at $8, $7.99 for one of these.
There's something else I think you should know
about this product.
And it is made entirely in the United States.
We're not anti any other country.
We just think you ought to support the country you're in,
if at all possible.
Byproducts are made entirely there.
And what's cool about this,
this happens to be a woman-owned business as well.
So if that's important to you, a value to you,
then this is a great product for you to check it out.
Check it out, the link's down below.
Let's support small business when we can.
So what's the verdict on the CordSafe Plus?
Well, I'd say I'd give it a thumbs up.
And I would qualify that.
If your expectation is this is gonna make
your extension cord connections waterproof,
that's not the purpose of it.
But if you really want to get them secure
and keep them drier, nicely done, well-constructed,
it's a substantial unit.
Now, check out, if you want to know more
about extension cords themselves,
we did a whole series on different ways
to wind up extension cords.
And you can check out one of them right here
on this video episode where we show you
how to do the figure eight wind-up method.
Great way to stow a lot of cordage
and not introduce a lot of loops and all that into the coil.
So I think you'll enjoy that.
And while you're at it, also check out this other video
that YouTube thinks is perfect for you.
And we'd like you to watch it as well.
Hey, until the next time, this is Dirt Farmer Jay
on the hunt for other great products
to see whether it's yay or nay.
