How can this Asian guy appear to be more dangerous in order to attract more women?
Or is that just the wrong question to be asking?
Why do you want to be dangerous?
Danger is bad!
Um, Andrew, this is a Cantonese guy.
He's from Toronto. He's a software engineer.
And he's going to Reddit for advice because, Andrew, he has a hinge profile
that's only getting one match a month right now.
So anyway, guys, we're going to go through some of the internet comments,
our own advice as well.
Make sure you like, subscribe, and turn on your notifications.
But one thing you don't need advice on is getting small ass sauce.
Get it right now. It ships. It's delicious.
A lot of people are enjoying it. Check it out at the Instagram too.
Uh, Andrew, I'm just going to call this guy Benny, okay?
Sure.
Because Benny is a classic Cantonese name.
Um, let's just look at some of his photos.
Andrew, opening up, he's got the sunglasses photo.
What are you thinking? Black v-neck.
Just not a great outfit, period.
Is that a drawstring backpack? The gym sack? I don't know.
Next picture, boom.
He's going with some rolled up tissue paper.
We can only assume what's in the tissue paper.
It's not lit. It looks like he's at a multiracial club.
I don't know, some sort of Russian monument in the background.
What's going on?
No, I mean, I'm sure maybe he's on a trip,
and he was being edgy because it's legal to smoke a joint,
but the joint is not even lit.
I wouldn't use this for a profile.
Yeah, no, I don't think that women like this.
Yeah, the beach photo.
It looks like that someone just dropped him off at the beach randomly.
Um, this monument photo with the selfie stick, not bad.
I mean, it looks like he's an entrant.
The selfie stick? Come on, you cannot.
He got a gym sack and a selfie stick in a photo.
I'm not counting the selfie stick against him too much.
This Eiffel Tower picture, it kind of has like a nice,
it kind of shows his jawline. I think it's not a bad picture.
Yeah, it looks more like Sean Yuet, which is a Hong Kong superstar.
I'm pretty sure this guy's HK.
Next photo shows that he has a job.
He might have some money, but I don't know about, I mean,
I guess he looks like a what, a tech nerd at a convention here?
Yeah, it looks like at a convention, doesn't look like fun,
but yeah, it does have a good smile on, all right?
I went to college and I have a profession.
All right, so this other photo cap of him playing the guitar, that's not bad.
This photo's not great, but showing that you can play the guitar in a dating profile,
that's not a bad idea.
I don't know, this looks like milk and cereal circa 17 years ago.
Cereal and milk on a table!
All right, David, overall, to break it down.
And by the way, we got a video here of his hinge, so we just run it.
Yeah, we'll just play his hinge profile, I guess.
And then I guess the truth is he's kind of asking, I think,
some of the wrong questions because in his post he says,
yeah, I'm thinking about looking more dangerous.
But he's probably thinking, the young and dangerous.
But I'm like, I don't think he's,
you got to max out your lane before you try to go dangerous.
Because what, you want to look like these guys with the tattoos and the edge?
You know what I mean?
So is it realistic for him?
Are you saying that he's asking the wrong question?
Yes, dangerous is the wrong question, man.
I think he's just trying to look more cleaned up,
look more like he knows what's going on in life,
and look more part of mainstream Western society.
What if he actually does want to look more dangerous, though?
Well, I don't know.
He seems pretty far from it,
so he's going to have to get more than Reddit advice is what I'm saying.
Yeah, if he really wanted to just look more baseline dangerous,
he should take this one photo here with the black Dickey shorts
and the black chucks and then just get full sleeves,
and then he'll look like a mongkok.
He'll look really MK, like an MK tattoo artist.
But anyway, Andrew, I have advice for a $200 24-hour glow up.
And the reason why I said this is because I was looking through so much advice
on the comment section, and I was just like, you know what, man?
Let me break it down as simple as I possibly can.
Okay, Andrew, agree with me or not?
And here's the thing, guys.
I went and just did it on Google for him.
So here we go.
He has to go to an Asian American barbershop in his city.
It's 2023, guys.
More than likely, they exist.
Agree or not?
Right.
So he has barbershops in his town.
I mean, if he's in the Toronto area, assuming based off his profile,
there's definitely barbershops in Toronto that know how to cut Asian hair.
I did a simple Yelp search, and I got five results.
Wow.
Go to one of those five spots, and realistically,
is the haircut going to be more than he wants to spend?
Yeah, it's probably going to be $40, $50 maybe for a one-time thing.
But this is not every time.
You just need to go to learn about your hair first and talk to someone
who actually knows hair and cares about your hair.
Does he need to put product in his hair?
He will need to, of course.
You have to put product in your hair.
I put product in my hair.
Yeah, a lot of people don't.
You know, people who are a little bit behind in the IQ of this game
But there's different product.
It's not like gel or just pomade.
There's a bunch of other stuff.
So, so, so, if you don't want to buy the quote-unquote
high-end expensive products at said barbershop, Andrew,
just get this multi-purpose gel aloe.
Okay, you can even use it on your skin.
Now, if you want to be super low-maintenance,
you take care of your moisturizer, too.
Okay, go to Zara.
Not H&M, but Zara.
Agree or disagree with me?
Yeah, I agree.
Zara.
Zara looks better.
Because Zara is more based off what?
YSL, All Saints?
It's more high-end copy.
Yeah, it's a little bit more expensive, too.
Probably like 15, 20% more than H&M.
I said, just walk into a Zara, look at three different mannequins,
and buy the exact outfits at that Zara that that mannequin's wearing.
I'm not saying, don't make any alterations, because you don't know.
Yeah, no, I mean, he has the body type for it.
He's kind of slim.
Yeah, and look, I said, if you don't like the Western mannequins,
because you know how some people, especially from,
not to stereotype, but like Canada,
they're more like tapped into Asia.
You can even Google like what the mannequins are wearing
like in a Bangkok mall, or like Taiwan, or like Korea Zara.
You know what I mean?
Like, you can look at how those pro stylists style those mannequins.
So, buy the whole outfit, okay?
By the way, there's also like a ton of people,
white people, black people, Asian people on YouTube
who do Zara crawls every season.
Literally, their like whole channels are based off that.
Now, Andrew, what do you think he should do about photos?
Should he junk all of those old photos,
or should he go get all new ones,
or keep some of them and, you know, mix it?
Some of those photos are legit, I think,
but he basically needs to show like he has more of a holistic life.
He's just trying to show that he's solid boyfriend material,
that he knows how to take care of himself,
and he can care for a woman.
But actually, in the thing, in his post, he was saying,
you know, I am looking for just like casual relationships.
Oh, well then he needs to look cooler.
Right, and I guess, but he's like, what about dangerous?
Is dangerous cooler?
I said this, you know, he doesn't need to hire a pro photographer
with a 120 millimeter focal length prime zoom lens, right?
But what he should do is just have somebody take better photos with him
with a modern phone.
I don't even care if it's an iPhone, an Android.
Just give me a phone camera that came out in the past year.
No, I think the Google Pixel is a great phone for these type of pictures too.
Pixel 8 Pro.
Yeah, exactly.
You got the AI functionality too,
so you can crop out the other people outside of it.
And I was saying, just think about where the light is going, right?
Where is the sun?
Because the sun is the best source of natural light.
It's got the best Kelvins, guys.
And I said, go to your local downtown area.
Just find a park, a coffee shop, and some street art.
Those three things should be extremely easy to find
in any sort of midsize city, okay?
And I'm saying, just pair some, don't just go to the park.
How about take a picture with a dog at the park?
Oh, okay.
Something masculine, something feminine.
How about this?
You're at the coffee shop.
Boom.
Maybe that's considered feminine.
I'm playing with a vintage camera at the coffee shop.
Something masculine.
Wow.
I'm in front of some street art.
I'm holding a basketball.
I like tennis.
I got the tennis.
Andrew, he's really into table tennis and ping pong.
How about we bouncing the table tennis ball in front of the street art?
Okay, I mean, that's, yeah, that's something that's activity.
Yeah, because it's still accurate.
I'm not saying, like, pose with a basketball or a football
if you don't play those sports.
Right, right, right.
You want to stay within theme and within the lane.
Okay, so now you've got the photos.
You can even go back and return the clothes because you go,
oh, you know, I spent too much money to look stylish.
So now you get your money back.
Just buy five clean T-shirts and one plain jacket from Zara.
$100.
Right.
So now, Andrew, whether you pick, ultimately pick a bomber jacket,
a leather jacket, or more like a catch-all casual work jacket, boom.
Now you are able to go on Hinge and secure a date,
and you go on that date with one of the T-shirts
and one of the jackets that you kept from Zara.
Woo!
I mean, I feel like that's a pretty easy thing to follow.
I mean, I think that this is a good starter pack for anybody.
Right.
This is kind of like your Hinge starter pack.
You can't really go wrong with this plan.
I'm not saying that it's going to maximize or anything like that.
Some people in the comment sections are saying he should go get tats
and channel some sort of stoic warrior.
But realistically, Andrew,
do people only have so much they can shift their archetype?
Dude, you got to maximize your lane first,
and his lane is not some gangster dangerous lane.
That's okay.
That doesn't mean you still can't get attention the other way.
You don't have to look like you run the streets,
that you run the nightclub.
You know what I mean?
All right.
So somebody said,
man, why did you show a photo of yourself playing table tennis in one of your photos?
That is so boring and so nerdy.
If he loves table tennis, what should he post?
I mean, I think he already looks like a nice kind of nerdy guy.
So you don't have to double down on the nerdiness
unless that is a specific niche,
like Comic-Con niche, cosplay niche.
To me, that's a niche that you can actually play to get dates
because if you're really into it.
You're saying you can find a girl who's also like 7 or 8 out of 10 ping-pong enthusiasts?
What I'm saying is ping-pong is not a niche that you can play.
Cosplay, Comic-Con is a niche.
Anime is a niche.
Ping-pong is not a niche.
All right.
Do you think it would work if he was at one of those millennial ping-pong type spots
versus like, it looks like he's at a competitive ping-pong,
like all Chinese people, like former Olympians that moved to Canada.
That's a good point.
He's not at one of the recreational bar-like ping-pong tables.
No, because that's a new trend, right?
Yes, yeah.
How about this?
This guy just says, I don't know, man.
Maybe you should hit the gym
and maybe you should just try to look dark and mysterious instead of dangerous
because dangerous is probably not going to work for you.
Dark and mysterious.
How does he look dark and mysterious?
I mean, it's going to be dark.
Take it step by step.
I don't think that's wrong.
I don't think it's wrong to tell somebody to look more mysterious,
but they got to go step by step.
Without a person actually coming down to him face to face and coaching him,
he's not going to get there.
So I think step by step.
You know what he could go with, which fits very much if you're from Hong Kong,
is techno wear, or what's it called, future wear?
The future scape.
Yeah, I think the truth is he needs to just look less harmless.
You know what I mean?
Right, right, right.
I mean, you can achieve that, what, with leather jackets
or with a lot of black technical fabrics?
No, the style and lighting of your photos already, right off the bat,
is going to change that.
You don't even have to change anything about your face or body.
Okay, so these guys were showing how you can take a photo in the park,
but make it a little bit cooler than your average photo in the park.
This guy's chilling by a creek.
Andrew, he looks like he's straight out of L.L. Bean,
or what's it called, like a J. Crew ad?
That photo is a good photo.
It is for his lane.
Like, he's masculine.
He's wearing fitted clothes.
He's clearly kind of fit.
But this guy might be in a different lane, though, right?
Yeah.
This guy kind of looks like an Asian Matthew McConaughey more.
Or like an Asian.
Like, this guy looks like he thought about going into the military at one point.
Right, right, right.
Like a good guy, but masculine good guy.
This guy right here said,
I found a way to convey a more mysterious, sexy version of my current interests.
So this guy was like, man, I like dogs,
but I took a cooler photo with a dog that looks like I live and explore with my dog.
I like Boba, but I look way more artistic at the Boba shop.
Would you agree with him that these are like a little bit more appealing ways
to accurately represent what he's still into,
even though those pursuits may be kind of harmless?
He kind of spruced them up.
I will say this.
This Boba shop picture is good for conveying that you like Boba.
Now, you don't have to show that you like Boba,
but if you want a photo that shows you down with Boba,
but that you have this like kind of masculine, like artsy side to you,
that accomplishes it.
And he's doing actually three things.
I realized, Andrew, he's wearing color-blocked athleisure.
He's got the Boba to show that, you know,
I'm with the, you know, Asian culture from Boba life.
But he's also got the DSLR letting the girl know,
oh, if you go on a date with me,
I might take a photo of you at 85 millimeters.
That is true.
Guys, Asian guys out there,
do not downplay the fact of being like a good photographer
or at least knowing how to take pictures.
You got to have some skills that can feed and help the girl immediately.
Is the DSLR with a good prime lens,
the modern day artsy Asian guy sword.
It's like carrying a sword back in the swordsman days.
It's like basically just adding usefulness to you.
Like I'm not saying your whole goal in life is to only be useful to your,
to a woman,
but you have to show some usefulness and right off the bat,
being able to take photos is one tool in your bag.
You know what I mean?
Girls like photos.
This guy said, you know,
it just really has to depend with how your archetype is already leaning
and you need to counteract that.
So he said somebody that has a very dangerous archetype
or people that are scared of,
they should appear more nerdy on their profile.
If they naturally look very scary,
he said you naturally look very harmless.
Therefore you may want to look more edgy,
but I don't know if dangerous is the word.
Dangerous is not the word.
Trust me.
That's not the word.
I literally think it comes from young and dangerous.
I literally think that that's where his bad read comes from.
Just more like clearly Western masculine.
That's all.
Right, right, right.
Other people are saying, man,
I just don't know realistically what your target market is.
And the guy was like, yeah,
well I'm looking for lots of casual relationships.
And a lot of people were like, dude,
you got to identify what is your goal first, right?
Yeah.
And I think that maximizing his lane aesthetically,
but then also just understanding like,
hey guys,
like a high amount of casual relationships.
That's not easy to do.
You still have to have the personality.
You got to have the look and like,
if that's what you want, right?
Right.
And I did see on his profile.
He's like, yeah,
I'm looking for somebody to ride the TTC with,
which is obviously the public transit in Toronto.
Right.
That doesn't sound cool.
That doesn't even sound like something that a girl who wants a casual
relationship would want to hear at all.
Yeah.
So here's the thing.
At the end of the day,
if you're trying to excite a person and have a casual relationship with them,
then you have to look cooler and edgier.
It's true.
But there's a way for him to improve his looks and be more just like,
hey,
I'm just trying to like get a girlfriend.
Right.
Because he should also just concentrate on just getting a girlfriend first.
And then you kind of level up to,
hey,
I kind of got some cool style.
I'm a cool guy.
Have fun.
But I was thinking I could go from software engineer to maybe something like,
you know,
oh,
eight Edison Chen.
If he really wants casual relationships,
he's got to have cooler photos.
And then in one of his prompts,
he says,
I may be a software engineer,
but I got that hardware.
I'm just kidding.
Don't do that.
But you know what I'm saying?
It would still work better than where he's at right now.
That would be,
it'd be polarized.
It'd be cringy.
It'd be cringy and polarizing.
I'm not suggesting actually doing that,
but it would work better than whatever he has right now.
One guy came in with a ton of hyper detailed advice about wearing thrifted or
vintage clothing spots,
getting vintage watches and all this Casio Royals with a leather strap and
et cetera,
et cetera.
You know what I was thinking when I was reading this advice,
I was like,
I'm not saying that it's fully wrong because in some sort of vintage
collectors world or like a subreddit world or some sort of collection of
males smoking cigars in a room,
all this aficionado stuff is valid.
But it's not really applicable to this guy's situation.
Right?
That's like me looking at somebody who doesn't really know how to play
basketball.
Right?
He essentially doesn't really know how to play team ball,
ISO ball.
And then we'll go,
all right.
On the left side,
we're going to run split action.
And if the play gets broken up by the defense,
I'm going to fake a pass to you.
And I want you to backdoor cut for an open layup.
I would never ever say that to somebody who doesn't know how to play.
Right?
Yeah.
The way they wouldn't even know what you're saying.
You'd be speaking a different language.
Yeah.
I would just tell them to just set the screens,
grab the rebounds,
pass me the ball,
shoot an open layup.
Maybe.
Right.
So I think that a lot of advice,
it really has to do with where you're at and what are your goals.
You know,
this guy,
I don't even think to be honest,
I mean,
I'm not saying this guy's like watch advice is wrong,
but like,
I don't think girls would ever care about vintage time pieces.
Hmm.
Also like,
if you just never thought about that kind of stuff,
I mean,
without like a friend that's coaching him closely,
basically going back to kind of your two,
$300 package,
24 hour package,
the 24 hour glow up that you were talking about,
that stuff that he doesn't need a mentor for all these other things of even
getting the right tattoo.
He's got to talk to somebody even like getting like changing a style into this
vintage Americana.
Like you've got to be actually into it.
Right.
You're saying channeling your inner samurai dark matter,
dark energy.
It's okay to be basic and just be like,
Hey,
you know,
like I,
I don't really have that many crazy interests.
So just go to Zara.
That's fine.
That's why they make fast fashion.
Literally is so that it's thoughtless to look better.
It's just,
they're just supposed to make it easy for you to look better.
That's it.
Right.
I mean,
ultimately I think you have to coach people where they're at.
And once you stabilize them at a level,
let's just say,
for example,
his IQ for this game,
it looks like it's about one out of 10 right now,
possibly a two.
I think you just got to stabilize at a five or a six.
And then once you stabilize there,
you can kind of look,
do I want to go six to a seven,
seven to a 7.5,
eight,
eight to a 2.8 0.25.
And the reason I'm going up in smaller and smaller fractions is
because the game gets exponentially harder,
like to gain more knowledge base,
the higher you go.
So anyway,
guys,
let us know what you guys think in the comment section below.
What does this software engineer from Toronto need to do?
What'd you think of my 24 hour,
$200 glow up package?
Or what'd you think of all the other advice that everybody gave
everybody?
Um,
ultimately,
Andrew,
are you ever shocked that people in 2023 still may have an IQ
this low for,
uh,
online dating or what?
Maybe,
uh,
a mass volume of women find it.
Nah,
nah,
but at least he's seeking help.
And I think there's a lot of help out there.
There's a lot of literature,
a lot of knowledge on how to get things done and do things.
So use it to your advantage.
Yeah.
I don't think he has bad cards.
Got a great jawline.
We'll see where he goes.
Let us know what you guys think of the comment section below until next time.
We don't hop out boys.
We out.
Peace.
