Mainland Chinese are mad at this San
Francisco public school ad getting at
ABCs and then ABC's are firing back at
mainland Chinese for having unrealistic
looks expectations. And at the end of
the day, I guess what she's saying is
that in chi mainstream Chinese culture,
you got the very wideeyed kind of like
actresses, right? That is like the main
stars in China. Whereas in America, the
Asian-Americans are more slantedized.
Right?
>> But the truth is it's the same genetic
basis, but in mainland China or in Asia
in general, they select different Asians
to get put in media. They only select
for like rarer traits. It's not that
everybody in China looks like Angela
Baby. Angela Baby don't even look Angela
Baby, first of all, is a quarter white
and she got a lot of plastic surgery,
but yes, she's very beautiful. But it is
true. It's more common to find a girl
who honest honestly looks like Lucy Lou
in in China on a on a per capita basis.
But it's true that somebody like Lucy
Lou would not be allowed to like rise
the ranks of entertainment,
>> right? Lucil would not be able to rise
in entertainment in China, right?
>> And it's the same way, dude. If you look
at Daisy countries, there's this girl
who is, I believe, Tamill on
Bridgetgerton. She's super hot. But she
was saying that she was like, I would
never be able to have this career that
I've had in India, only in London.
>> For sure.
>> Do you know what I'm saying? Because her
she was saying her dark skin would have
precluded her from the prerequisites of
that micro system.
>> I mean, it's kind of like uh in
Thailand, too. We just talked about like
Zach and Lisa. They would not be able to
climb up in the channel 3, Channel 7,
Lorn, whereas they'll do better in the
Western media,
>> right? or even just global international
media, right? Or they reposition them as
like a hip-hop star, just something
different that's the way their own
society that they're in cannot see them,
they can be seen with a different
cultural spacing in a different
environment. But so yeah, basically
that's one thing I realized about
Chinese people is like sometimes I'm
always like, listen, every people that
are from this society, they have their
own ranking, but then they have the way
the rest of the globe is going to
respond to it.
>> Right. Right. Right. Like we said, Zach
is never going to be on the Love Island
of Thailand, but he's the only guy
repping for Asian guys that are hot
trying to get the non-Asian girls. And
whether that is upsetting a lot of Thai
people or not, that is a question, a
good question to ask. Different
fishbowls operate on different spectrums
and systems.
