【Classical music and nature Johann Sebastian Bach: Cello Suite no. 3 in C, BWV 1009 - 4. Sarabande. This beautiful piece was played by Janos Starker. It has Creative Commons license and is provided through www.musopen.org.

"The sarabande was a slow-moving dance in 3/2 (triple beat), later in 3/4 beat, which came from Spain to France, Italy, Germany and England shortly after 1588 and soon became very popular everywhere. Its character was initially exuberant, and it was only danced by women (accompanied by castanets), later acquiring a serious character through the compositions in France and Germany. The melody, which in later times appeared full of seriousness and grace, usually has two parts of eight bars each. ...

The lively, vehement and passionate character of this ( originally) castanet dance, which was probably a forerunner of the exuberant Spanish gypsy dances that still exist today, seems to have been toned down in subsequent French adaptations. As a result, the sarabande was transformed into a noble, even serious dance, unequalled in dignity and majesty."
