I want to give you an end-of-November update and take a moment to share some updates from Union Rescue Mission with you.

I've been shuttling back and forth to Iowa and spending a few days there. Although I'm living in Iowa now, I continue to return to work at Union Rescue Mission. I've been residing in the chaplain study upstairs and sharing meals with the families. Recently, I had dinner with the single men, creating more wonderful memories during my time here.

Leaving this role at Union Rescue Mission has been the toughest decision I've faced. Before Thanksgiving, I planned to return for our big Turkey fry. However, I received a call from the hospital about my mom coming home for home hospice care, which led me to stay home and support her, alongside the tremendous care provided by my wife. Unfortunately, my mom passed away shortly after, reuniting with my father in heaven at the age of 89. It was a privilege to write her obituary, honoring the incredible person she was.

Despite missing the Turkey fry, I kept up with the event's happenings through reports and pictures. The team fried over 300 turkeys, creating an unforgettable Thanksgiving event. The joyous atmosphere and the hospitality shown to everyone, including those from the streets, were truly heartwarming.

Looking ahead, we're preparing for our Christmas store on December 16th. This year, it's going to be a grand event downtown, inviting families from Angela's House, Hope Gardens, and downtown, totaling over 900 family members and 500 kids of all ages. Your support in donating gifts for all ages will help us create a memorable experience where families can choose gifts for their children and celebrate Christmas with dignity.

Volunteer spaces for the Christmas store are filled, but you can sign up for future opportunities to volunteer at Union Rescue Mission. Your presence truly makes this place special.

The deadline to donate Christmas gifts is December 11th at our URM Distribution Center downtown. Visit //urm.org/toydrive for more info. Your continued support has been vital for our operations, especially during a time when our giving has dropped off significantly despite the increased need at our doors.

We couldn't make these life-changing efforts without your support. As we approach the Christmas season, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering commitment to Union Rescue Mission and the community we serve.

We could not do this without you!

We could not do this life-changing work without donors like you!

God bless you.
