The Way Home: Marcus Got His Smile Back

After nearly 18 years in federal prison, Marcus worked hard to rebuild his life—but after losing his daughter, he fell into deep grief and addiction. Everything changed the night he found himself on Skid Row and saw a cross glowing in the darkness above Union Rescue Mission.

At URM, Marcus found safety, peace, and people who welcomed him with compassion. Through the Mission’s care, he rediscovered his faith, found healing, and even got his smile back through URM’s dental clinic.

Today, Marcus serves as coordinator for the Lions program, walking alongside men who are facing the same struggles he once did. His story is a powerful reminder that even in life’s darkest moments, hope can still shine through.
