According to mainland media, early in the morning on May 7, 2022, an ambulance from
Renji Hospital in Linzhou City, Hunan Province, stopped at an exit of a provincial expressway.
Wang, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested, and the police discovered he had 50 grams of
illegal drugs. He admitted that this was the third time he had taken the ambulance to Puyang
to buy pills. Wang explained that during the pandemic, according to regulations, regular
motor vehicles are not allowed to travel through urban areas freely. He was introduced to Dai,
an ambulance driver at Renji Hospital in Linzhou City, to purchase drugs smoothly.
From January to May 2022, Dai used his ambulance to transport Wang from Linzhou City to Puyang
City to buy drugs three times. For each completed order, Wang would pay Dai an amount ranging from
140 to 211 dollars, or 1,000 to 1,500 yuan. Dai said when he used the ambulance for such
personal matters, he had never encountered any checkpoints and had essentially traveled
without any obstacles. The implicated ambulance belongs to Renji Hospital. However, during the
investigation, Deputy Director Han Ming argued that Dai had purchased the ambulance and was not
a hospital employee. Most of the time, Dai used the vehicle, etc. However, prosecutors obtained
road monitoring records on the expressway segment. They found that in just one year,
Dai had driven the ambulance around the city over 320 times and across provinces more than 40 times.
Wang was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 1,400 dollars for illegal drug possession.
After this incident was exposed, mainland netizens discussed fervently.
Wang is just a pawn. They're truly deceiving and killing people like demons. The way they make
their money is truly shocking. This hospital has issues. It shows how useless the monitoring system
is. Others commented, the driver is just a scapegoat. The hospital director should be the
drug dealer. Think carefully. The ambulance has traveled 320 times and crossed provinces 40 times.
It's impossible for the hospital not to know.
