The Russian naval facility in Tartus is a military facility leased by the Russian Navy and located on the northern edge of the seaport of the Syrian city of Tartus.
Tartus is the Russian navy's only maintenance and resupply point in the Mediterranean, and Russian warships do not have to travel through the Turkish Strait to return to their bases in the Black Sea.
The Tartus facility can currently accommodate four medium-sized vessels, but only if its two 100-metre floating docks within the northern breakwater are available.
It is currently unable to accommodate any of the Russian Navy's current major warships, which range in length from 129 meters of Fearlessness class frigate class frigate class to 163 meters of Fearlessness class destroyer, not to mention cruisers such as 186.4 meters of Glory class and 252 Mikirov class,Or 305 m Kuznetsov-class aircraft carriers and 156 m Hyundai class destroyers.
