The mother of cinematographer Halina Hutchins
traveled from Ukraine to Hollywood
to lay flowers on her daughter's grave.
It has been two years now since she was killed
on a movie set in New Mexico.
Eyewitness News reporter Amy Powell has more.
Bouquets of flowers cover Halina Hutchins' grave
at a Hollywood cemetery.
It has been exactly two years since she was killed
on a New Mexico movie set.
Hutchins' mother, Olga, making a long journey
from the family's home in Ukraine to Los Angeles
to mark the anniversary of her daughter's tragic death.
It's too much, it's too much, it's too much.
Hutchins' family members have filed a wrongful death lawsuit
seeking answers about the fatal shooting
on the set of the movie Rust.
There's a family here that is hurting,
is in pain, is suffering.
Hutchins was the cinematographer
for the Western starring Alec Baldwin,
a co-producer of the film.
They were rehearsing a scene on the Santa Fe set.
Baldwin was pointing a gun at the camera
when it went off, firing a live round,
killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger.
The film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed,
pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter
and evidence tampering.
She is set to go on trial in February.
Earlier this year, involuntary manslaughter charges
against Baldwin were dropped,
but prosecutors say additional facts have come to light
and the actor may be recharged.
Allred says she will continue to seek justice
for Hutchins' parents and her sister.
There was a real human being here
who was shot to death that day.
And we're always gonna remember Helena.
Special prosecutors in New Mexico say
their investigation has churned up new information
that they believe gives them grounds to recharge Baldwin,
a grand jury is expected to hear the case
in the next couple of months.
