And he says, the drinking age is 18 in England, Dad.
You can't, there's no successful parenting you can do when you have the hiccups, okay?
I'm like, baby, you need to start lying.
You're like, I'm out of the circle.
Welcome to Eigo no Sensei.
Today, I would like to introduce an English interview.
As for the flow of this video,
first, you will see everything in Japanese with subtitles,
and then I will introduce English that I often use for each scene.
The timestamp is posted in the summary section and in the comment section, so please check it out.
First, let's watch it in Japanese with subtitles.
My daughter is 14 years old now.
Is that tough?
Yeah, no, 14-year-old girl is tough because you, you know, you like lose your authority, you know.
About two weeks ago, I was very upset with her about something.
And this, for other parents out there, this is really important.
I need you to listen closely.
You can't, there's no successful parenting you can do when you have the hiccups, okay?
And I was trying to chastise her.
Yeah.
And I said, hey, girl, listen to me when I'm talking to you.
And she looked at me like, mm.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, nothing moves forward when you have the hiccups.
It was Jaden's birthday.
He was promoting in London.
So he was like, guys, you know, you know, it's like before my birthday, you know,
I'll be promoting in London.
Everybody should come to London and we'll just celebrate my birthday there.
I was like, wow, that's kind of, that's cool.
So we go and hang out for his birthday.
And I'm like, man, that's really good.
He wanted his family with him.
And then we go to a restaurant, you know, and Jaden was just particularly excited.
You know, we sit down at the restaurant and he looks at the waiter and he says,
I'll have a tequila.
And I said, whoa, whoa, man, hold up.
What you doing?
And he says, the drinking age is 18 in England, Dad.
Uh, my daughter's 14 years old now.
Is that tough?
Yeah, no.
Tough.
Is the work tough?
14 year old girl is tough because you, you know, you like lose your authority, you know.
Authority.
He has the most authority here.
That's about two weeks ago.
I was very upset with her.
Yeah.
About something.
Upset.
What are you so upset about?
And this for other parents out there, this is really important.
Out there.
This is the best laptop out there.
Important. I need you to listen closely.
Listen close.
Listen close to what he is saying.
You can't, there's no successful parenting you can do.
Successful.
She became successful after pursuing her dreams.
When you have the hiccups.
Okay.
Hiccup.
The fright has stopped my hiccup.
I was trying to chastise her.
Yeah.
Chastise.
The coach is always chastising the players for mistakes.
And I said, Hey girl, listen to me when I'm talking to you.
And she looked at me like,
Nothing moves forward when you have the hiccup.
Move forward.
Let's move forward with this project.
It was Jaden's birthday.
He was promoting in London.
Promote.
The actors promoted the movie all around the world.
So he was like, guys, you know, you know, it's like before my birthday.
You know, I'll be promoting in London.
Everybody should come to London and we'll just celebrate my birthday.
Celebrate one's birthday.
Let's celebrate her birthday in Hawaii.
I was like, wow, that's, that's kind of, that's cool.
So we go and hang out for his birthday.
Hang out.
Let's hang out sometime soon.
And I'm like, man, that's really good.
He wanted his family with him and then we go to a restaurant and you know,
and Jaden was just particularly excited.
Particularly.
I particularly like rice.
We sit down at the restaurant and he looks at the waiter and he says,
I'll have a tequila.
And I said, whoa, whoa, man, hold up.
What you doing?
And he says, the drinking age is 18 in England, dad.
Drinking age.
The drinking age in Japan is 20.
Like when they were really young, we did a thing called the circle of safety.
Right?
So within the circle of safety, the kids are allowed to say anything that they want.
They can tell us anything that they did and they can cleanse it all out and they don't get in
trouble.
Right?
Because the rule is if we find out after the circle of safety that it was something you didn't
say, there'll be hell to pay.
But now they got used to telling us everything.
As a father, you do not want a circle of safety with a 15 year old daughter.
No, you do not.
I'm like, baby, you need to start lying.
I'm out of the circle.
Yeah, I'm like, oh, no, I'm out of the circle.
Here we go.
You and your mom can talk about that.
Oh, my gosh.
Like when they were really young, we did a thing called the circle of safety.
Right?
So within the circle of safety, the kids are allowed to say anything that they want.
Allow.
We are not allowed to take pictures here.
They can tell us anything that they did and they can cleanse it all out.
Cleanse.
She cleansed herself mentally.
And they don't get in trouble.
Get in trouble.
I got in trouble because I didn't do my homework.
Right.
Because the rule is if we find out after the circle of safety that it was something you
didn't say.
Find out.
I will find out the truth.
There'll be hell to pay.
But now they got used to telling us everything.
Yeah.
Get used to.
I got used to drinking green tea in the morning.
As a father, you do not want a circle of safety with a 15-year-old daughter.
I'm like, baby, you need to start lying.
I'm out of the circle.
