That was really outstanding, it really was truly outstanding.
It was only a little family joke and look how it's gone global now, I mean it's
unbelievable that people are so kind throughout the world as to contribute, as long as they
contribute I'll walk, we'll see who finishes, who gives up first.
And I want to pay a special tribute today to Captain Tom Moore, who at the age of 99
has raised over £7 million so far for NHS charities by completing 100 laps of his garden.
Captain Tom, you're an inspiration to us all and we thank you.
How are you feeling about going to see the Queen this afternoon?
I'm absolutely overwhelmed by that, I mean it isn't everybody gets the chance to see
the Queen is it? I think that's going to be absolutely marvellous for me.
And are you still worried about kneeling down and getting up?
I don't, if I kneel down I'll never get up again.
To meet the Queen was more than anyone could expect, never ever did I imagine that I should
get so close to the Queen and have such a kind message from her, that was really outstanding,
it really was truly outstanding.
And can you explain the message, what did she say?
No, I don't think I can tell anybody what she said, it was just the Queen and I speaking
privately and it was a great honour for me to be able to speak to her at all.
What's better, raising £30 million for charity or having the Queen break her lockdown to
personally meet you?
The money is very useful but with only one Queen and to be able to get a message from
the Queen, there's no value can be placed on that.
Four months ago I was just Tom Moore, now I'm Sir Tom Moore and I'm thrilled.
