Motorcycle operator spends the day fleeing from Arkansas State Police #pursuit #chase
Trooper's Report:
On 9/23/23, I was notified by Deputy Kyle Jones he located a suspect on a black and silver sport-bike that had fled from TFC
Tanner Hess earlier that day. Deputy Jones said the suspect was last seen westbound on I-40 near the 82-mile marker. I
notified TFC Hess, and we set up at the 78 westbound on-ramp. I was going to initiate the traffic stop, however, TFC Hess had
to reposition his vehicle in front of me due to traffic.
The suspect motorcycle passed us at approximately 12:39 p.m. We attempted to catch up to it, and as soon as the suspect
realized we were coming up behind him on the interstate he accelerated. Initially, TFC Hess engaged his lights and I was
secondary. I notified TFC Hess to allow me to take primary because my unit can get to a higher speed, and I was able to take
primary. After I took primary we notified TFC Ervin Clokey we were headed toward Johnson County to see if he could assist.
He set up at the 58-mile marker westbound and waited on us. As we pursued the suspect, I noticed he was driving
dangerously by driving on the shoulder passing cars, and driving in between cars at a high rate of speed. We pursued the
suspect to the 58-mile marker westbound where he exited. We lost sight of the suspect on Rogers and decided to cancel the
pursuit.
