The Office Reboot Is Reportedly Happening With Original Showrunner

THE OFFICE IS COMING BACK Hey everybody, I'm Adam Martinetti and it better be all about D'Angelo and Robert California. The Office, which ended its American run ten years ago, has had a huge and fierce fan following ever since. And now, the word is, it's coming back. With the tentative agreement being reached to possibly end the five-month-long writers strike, a number of projects are most likely set to be in motion soon, at least in the writing stages. In an interview with Puck News as part of a broader conversation about which projects and deals will emerge once the strike officially ends, writers Matthew Baloney and Jonathan Handel said the return of The Office is imminent, even speculating the original series showrunner Greg Daniels will return. Given that there have been rumors from the original cast and executives at NBC alike, this is maybe not news to some people. Reception of the news, however, has varied from optimism for a new series to pessimism. When Greg Daniels spoke to Collider in 2022, he said, I can't tell whether fans would want more of it, and when I say more of it, I don't think it would be the same characters. Adding, I think it would just be sort of like an extension of the universe. You know what I mean. Like the way The Mandalorian is like an extension of Star Wars, but I don't know if that would be something people would want or not. It's hard to tell. I'm Adam Martinetti, and don't forget to head over to Collider.com for all your movie news, trailers, and reviews. Thanks for watching, and we'll catch you later.
