Jawan Box Office Set to Become Second-Biggest Bollywood Movie Ever

Jawan is set to become the second biggest Bollywood film ever. Hey everybody, I'm Adam Martinetti and the second's good, but I think we can hit first. Indian blockbuster Jawan is now in its third week in theatres and is continuing to break box office records, this past weekend becoming the highest grossing indie language film of all time in its home country. The previous film to hold that distinction is named Bataan, which also came out this year and both Bataan and Jawan star Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, which is an impressive feat in and of itself. According to Khan's production company, Jawan has brought in approximately $118 million globally, putting the film just $12 million shy of overtaking Bataan's lifetime gross of $130 million. This will place it second overall on the all-time list behind Aamir Khan's Dangal, which brought in $250 million. It should be noted that some of Dangal's revenue came from China, where neither Jawan or Bataan has played. Domestically, Jawan has currently brought in $13 million and will soon overtake last year's RRR, which ended its stateside run with $14 million, and Bataan ended its domestic run with $17 million. Jawan has already broken opening day, opening weekend, and opening week records, with Khan himself earning the distinction of having become the only Bollywood star of two $100 million-plus grossing films in the same year.
