Hey friends and welcome back to my channel or welcome if this is your first time here.
Since uploading my six month journey video a few months back I've been getting a lot of requests
to continue sharing this part of my life but I wanted to think of a creative way to visually
share my day while also covering topics that have made the biggest impact on me during my journey.
So I thought I would create a bit of a montage style video while talking about different topics
or concepts that have helped me along the journey of creating positive changes in my life.
I'm sure you can tell by the title of this video that the topic I want to talk about today is
reinventing yourself. Now I do want to include this disclaimer that each of us have our own
very unique views about ourselves and our lives and in no way I'm saying that your idea of
reinventing yourself should look the same as mine or anyone else's. I hope that what you take from
this is the belief in yourself that no matter how far gone or how far away from a dream you have for
yourself may seem that you are fully capable of creating a life that you're not only proud of
but that you're excited to wake up for every single day and that you're finding yourself
living in a passionate mindset. I think most of us at some point think it's too late to create
changes even if deep down we really want something and this could even be your job maybe you have a
dream to do something else but you're scared to take the step or maybe you're unhappy about
something else in your life or you expect more from yourself and you know you're more capable
but again don't know where to start. So last October I had a lot of moments that month where
I felt really down on myself. I got to the point where I felt I wasn't in control of so many areas
of my life and that I just needed to accept where I was physically, financially, emotionally. Really I
just felt every aspect of my life just felt sad. I don't know how else to explain it but I'm going
to talk more about where I was physically and mentally because that's a big part of my journey
and probably why you even clicked on this video. So up until that point I had done countless weight
loss challenges in my life. I was pregnant at 22 with twins and went on to have five children
and after each baby the weight seemed to just be a little more difficult to get off. You know I'd
gain weight with each pregnancy and then not lose all of it and then I was pregnant again which meant
more weight. Last year at 33 I remember stepping on the scale and seeing the exact same number
that I weighed the day I gave birth to my twins and I know the scale isn't the end all be all but
I can't even describe the feeling of defeat I felt when I saw that number. There was no baby or
babies in my belly this was all me and I could accept that my past decisions of never finding
time to exercise and not paying attention to my nutrition I could have accepted that this is just
who I am so why bother even trying and for a while I actually did feel that way because I had tried so
many things in the past yet I always found myself back here. Back in the same routine of eating
habits and having no physical activity a part of my daily routine this is where I ended up every
single time so again I was just thinking why should I even try? So maybe this is something you feel
like you could relate to feeling that it might just be too late or you've tried too many times
to go after something and it's just never worked out for you or you just didn't stick to it so
again why even try? So on Halloween last year I remember sitting down with my husband and talking
about all the areas of my life that I wasn't happy with and that I really wanted to change
and what was interesting was the whole month of October when I was living in the state of
acceptance you know accepting the fact that my past decisions had made up my life and that this
was just who I was so the entire month of October I just did not feel like myself I was not trying
to make progress in anywhere in my life I was just kind of existing if that makes sense and I just
wasn't happy like the whole month of October I just felt very drained and sad and just I had
no energy and it's hard to explain unless you've felt that way but I just did not like where I was
but the last day of the month when I sat down with my husband and I had this conversation with him
and just opened up about the fact that I wasn't happy and I wanted to change in that moment I
immediately felt better I felt happier I felt excited it was like this moment of realizing
no I'm the creator of my life and I get to decide what my next chapter looks like
that immediately lit a flame inside me and I believe it takes this realization moment for
all of us to finally decide we want more or deserve more and we're far more capable of
maybe what we are accomplishing but on November 1st I remember waking up with a new feeling inside
of me that I wanted to change but wasn't sure how I was going to go about it and I stumbled across
a little graphic on Instagram that said something along the lines of if you committed yourself to
six months of doing these things on this checklist some of those items were working out four to five
times a week personal development going for walks getting eight hours of sleep cutting out negativity
and I remember reading that and feeling a fire inside of me and I knew that I had to do this I
had to commit myself to six months of really trying and the beautiful thing was this was not
just about weight loss or my physical body I knew I had so much mental work I needed to do
and spending time daily in personal development meditating and focusing on removing negativity
from my life which also included negative thoughts or self-talk this was literally the answer I needed
to change my life and to completely reinvent myself and the reason I say reinvent is because
I had to unbecome who I naturally am naturally I want to stay up late and sleep in all morning
naturally I want to relax all day and eat whatever I want I'm a huge foodie I love food even when I'm
eating I'm already thinking about what I want to eat next naturally I talk very negatively about
myself and I think very negatively about myself and I knew changing that would be one of the
hardest parts if not the hardest part of it all so on November 1st I made my very first checklist
and I got on Instagram and I told everyone what I was doing I was going to change my life over the
course of six months I have no idea why I felt brave enough to do that on day one but I'm so
glad I did I'm so glad that I made a public commitment to myself because I know the kind
of person I am when I do that and I feel obligated to show up but let me tell you something I really
found to be true during this whole journey the day you decide to change and you wake up and you're
crossing things off your checklist that are helping you move the needle towards your goals
you will never be happier than when you are working towards something Tony Robbins says it
best progress equals happiness it's waking up today and choosing to progress in any area of
your life that you will truly feel alive and happy when we decide to throw in the towel and
give up there's a darkness you can feel that's almost tangible almost like you've dug yourself
into a dark pit but the good news is you have the power to make the decision to change and then it's
really just continuing to make those daily commitments to yourself that each day no matter
what you're going to make some kind of progress towards what you want so let me ask you what is
it that you really want or maybe there's a lot of areas in your life like it was for me that need a
total transformation if you know you want more out of life or know that maybe you're showing up at 50
and know you are capable of so much more another phrase that really helped me along my entire
journey and it's still the screensaver on my phone it says imagine the highest version of yourself
and start showing up as her so for you what does this version of you look like the highest version
of yourself the version that takes control that says yes to opportunities that says no to anything
that won't serve you the version of you that gives 100 effort and that actually achieves the very
thing that you've always wanted but are maybe too scared to go after picture that version of yourself
and write down all of the things that version of you would do what would her morning routine look
like what time would she go to bed how would she spend her time in the day and then write down what
your current self is doing right now what are your habits what's your daily routine are you making
conscious decisions that are leading you toward a goal or are you just kind of going with the flow
of life do you feel like you've given up on your goals and you really aren't looking forward to
anything the reason i think this is important to do is because when we think of our biggest goals
and then where we currently are in life we see this huge gap and it seems so daunting that it's
almost easier to avoid the fact you want it and not try all together but truthfully that gap of
where you are and where you want to go is all in your daily routine so if you can assess where you
are spending your time what you are doing right now versus the highest version of yourself you
can see where you need to make those changes of improvement and that gap will immediately start
closing years ago i was trying to accomplish a really big goal that i had for myself there was
a level in my company called ambassador i wanted to hit that was the highest achievement and i
remember hearing the advice if you want to become an ambassador act like one right now this is
exactly the mindset shift i had while on this journey anytime a decision in my day was to be
made i'd ask myself what would a fit person do because if i wanted to be fit i needed to make
decisions right now that a fit person would make so anytime i would find myself in the pantry
looking at all kinds of snacks i would repeat that to myself and it would really help me in those
moments to make better decisions because on the journey of reinventing yourself you will have to
face decisions every single day that are uncomfortable yes i would rather eat a bag of
chips and i knew that was going to give me temporary satisfaction but consciously choosing
a healthier alternative made me go to bed feeling accomplished and proud and that takes me right
back to how progress is truly what brings you happiness so what are some different ways to
apply this idea and create your new daily routine that you will stick to i would say the first being
to immerse yourself into the world of whatever it is you're trying to go after to really completely
reinvent yourself you've got to be eating sleeping breathing this new lifestyle so you've got to get
rid of distractions if it's living a healthier fit life start following accounts on social media that
will inspire you every single day to stick to your new lifestyle unfollow anyone who maybe causes
you to have negative thoughts or will distract you from becoming this new version of yourself
find podcasts youtube videos books ebooks all things related to your topic just think if you
woke up and immediately put on a video or you were listening to a podcast while you made breakfast or
started your day how much more motivated you'll feel starting your day in this new routine then
as your day is going maybe you stop feeling motivated and you get on instagram and you start
scrolling and what are you seeing people sharing workouts meal ideas motivational and inspiring
things so there you go if it's all you're seeing you will become that maybe you've heard of the
power of proximity who you surround yourself with you become and this can absolutely be virtually
you don't have to know these people to be inspired by them and for them to influence your daily
decisions i would also make a point to create daily action step goals make the action your goal
so instead of saying my goal is to lose 20 pounds that can be your big goal but your goal today is
to get your workout in and to stick to your meal plan when the day is over you will feel so much
more accomplished because you achieved your goal and when you do this consistently your big goal
happens by default this can be applied with any goal you have create action step goals on a daily
weekly and monthly basis that are bringing you closer to your big goal and then a very important
step is to check in with yourself every single night reflect on your day the decisions you made
did you make decisions based off your old past self or did you make choices this renewed higher
version of yourself would make the simplest way to stay on track when it comes to reinventing
yourself is to consider your highest self in every decision you make each day is this the choice the
higher version of you would make if not don't do it and eventually you will become this person
in fact the decisions that used to be so hard or uncomfortable for you to make will become
uncomfortable for you to not make them because this is just who you are now this is the new you
