Hey guys, this is Iroda here.
Um, I'm here with my notebook and I have my coffee, um, and my little microphone.
So, um, today I really want to talk about three different mindsets that can help
anybody achieve their personal development goals.
What are personal goals?
Personal goals are things that we do to become best version of ourselves, sort of
live our lives based on what we know, what we have learned, what we were brought up to
do, but it comes to a point where, you know, you make a decision to improve some
aspect of your life, whether, you know, you want to learn a new skill, you know,
maybe you want to learn a new language, um, maybe you want to lose, um, 10 to 20
pounds.
These mindsets are that I found that our top three mindsets that really help to
achieve those goals based on my personal experience, based on talking to my
patients, um, I have figured that these mindsets really help.
So the mindset number one is a scientific mindset.
Scientific mindset is a mindset that you can measure your progress.
It is very helpful tool because when you have a scientific mindset, you can measure
your actions in a non-emotional, but rather calculated, uh, in calculated steps.
Um, for example, if you are starting a weight loss journey, you are most likely going to
take before and after photos, right?
And you're also going to measure your weight, your fat percentage, um, body
water, total body water, um, and your muscle mass.
And then you're going to come up with some type of, um, plan.
Uh, and that plan might be following a certain nutrition or, um, implementing a
certain exercise.
Once you do that, then you're going to document your progress, right?
That documentation is going to come in numbers.
It's going to be measurable.
It's going to give you an idea whether or not what you're doing is working, right?
So when you have that scientific mindset, you are more rational around the things
you're trying.
So if it doesn't work, you're not going to get so emotionally invested in it.
Rather, you're going to look at it in a scientific way and say, Oh, it didn't work
because X, Y, and Z going to try something different.
And, and I'm going to see if that's going to work for me.
You know, I'm not saying that, um, you shouldn't have any emotions around your
goals.
It's okay to have, to be sad about something not working out.
And this might be counterintuitive.
You lose the 10 pounds and you get so happy and excited.
And then, you know, you have this trip coming up and you're like, you know, I
worked so hard.
I stuck to the, to a certain meal plan.
I was hard on myself.
Now I deserve to go out and then just like splurge and enjoy this trip.
Um, I'm not going to stick to the plan.
I'm going to just enjoy it and have a good time.
So these are, those are like the two different emotional responses.
But when you are more of a scientific, when you're approaching it and more of a
you are staying on the course because you don't have those emotional ups and downs.
You can easily adjust to different scenarios without getting emotionally
involved in mindset is a flexible mindset.
Flexible mindset allows you to have an open mind towards trying different methods
or weight loss without getting emotionally involved.
When you are open-minded, you allow yourself to open up to different options and you
are more likely to try them out and see for yourself if they fit to your lifestyle.
If they are right for you.
If they're not, you can move on to the next thing.
So, and that is okay to do, you know, um, the opposite polar opposite of a
flexible mindset is a all or nothing mindset.
All or nothing mindset is, uh, the one that you kind of commit fully a hundred
percent, if it works out, if it works, that works out, if it doesn't, then I'm done.
You know, uh, with the flexible mindset, you know, you can kind of alter your
input based on what results you're getting.
You can be flexible in that, um, it doesn't have to be perfect.
What you're doing is that you're going to give your best.
You're going to take actions.
Let's say for weight loss, as again, I'm going to use weight loss as an example.
Let's say you're doing a, um, vegetarian diet and, and, and your goal to, and, and
the purpose for doing a vegetarian diet is that you want to save the planet.
You want to, you feel sensitive about animal brutality.
Um, you want to lose weight and you're doing it, but you're not losing weight.
Um, but you know, you're doing it for a better, for better reasons, like
to saving the planet and whatnot.
So it doesn't mean that you should completely, you know, you still, you're
getting some type of benefit from doing it.
It may not be a personal benefit.
Uh, it may not be like a physical benefit, but you are feeling good about it.
Right?
So maybe when you, when you look at it from a flexible mindset, you can say,
okay, I will continue doing this diet, but I will start exercising too.
So that way, by being flexible and open to starting an exercise plan, you are also,
uh, opening up to a new possibility that might potentially lead you to your goal,
which is losing weight, correct?
So, um, and then you start, you know, uh, exercise plan and then, you know, you're,
um, starting to losing weight, but see when you had that with the flexible mind,
you were able to do both without giving up one, one for, um, we're not working out.
Coffee break.
Uh, and the third mindset is a investigative mindset slash curious mindset.
So when you have curious investigative mindset towards achieving weight loss,
you are more likely to do your own research.
When you come across certain information, such as, um, you know, you find the
information on Google that says, stop eating sugar.
And so you're curious because you, you're like, okay, why am I, why are they telling
me to stop eating sugar?
Let me find out, you know, you do your own research.
Um, or let's say they say, stop eating pasta.
And then you're like, wait a minute.
I love pasta.
Why are they telling me to not eat any pasta?
And so you start investigating for information, AKA evidence to as to why you
should not, why there's everybody saying not to eat pasta, to lose weight or
whatever.
So investigative mindset will guide you to your goal and not because you're open
and you're have that curious mindset, you're going to do different research.
You're going to figure out why, um, you should be doing the certain things, um,
everybody tells you to do instead of just going with it, instead of seeing, you
know, maybe you, you come across a YouTuber or, um, as someone who is a fitness
instructor and they look amazing and they say, you know, I don't eat carbs.
I only eat this and that, and then I exercise, but then some part of you is
being skeptic.
So when you have that investigative mindset, you can pause instead of following
whatever people tell you, you will do your own research and you, because you
have that curiosity about it and you want to find out why is, why are they
telling me this?
Why am I, why are they, everybody's talking about, you know, carbs are bad or
exercise is better than nutrition or whatever.
So, um, having that kind of mindset allows you to do your own research and
follow your instincts when it comes to figuring out what works for your personal
weight loss journey.
And then when you find out when you, when it clicks, you can follow that all the
way through and stick to it.
And another way to utilize this mindset is when you go shopping, um, for groceries,
you know, you're in, um, you're shopping and you're looking at different items.
So when you have that like curious mindset, you're going to look up the
nutrition facts and see how much protein the item has, how much carbs the item has,
how much sugar, um, how much fiber, whatever, you know, and also you might
also spend a lot of money trying to, you know, um, get, you know, because you're
so excited about it.
So having that investigative curious mindset and potentially save you a lot of
money too in the process.
And there's also a saying that goes, when the student is ready, teacher will come.
So when you are curious and you stay open, you will, you, the information will
come to you.
It might be in some type of video form.
It might be, you know, maybe you'll come across an advertisement, coffee break.
Now really want to emphasize how and why this, um, mindset, having these types of
mindset is important, knowing what you want and going after it.
Um, and knowing, you know, being aware of what's stopping you is really a superpower
when you can, um, channel a mindset and make it work, make it work in your favor.
You can really achieve anything that you really set your mind to.
So, um, mindset can be a very powerful thing, and I hope that you can take this
video and apply it towards your personal goals.
It doesn't have to be weight loss.
It can be anything.
It can be learning new language.
It can be, um, uh, implementing a new habit.
It can be, um, learning how to play piano, whatever you choose.
Um, these mindsets and help you achieve or get to that personal goal faster.
