The RV Solar Upgrade Project | More Solar Power In Our Thor Magnitude!

Our Thor Magnitude RB34 came equipped with a small 100 watt solar system. This little solar system was really only to maintain the wet cell batteries that came with the coach. After upgrading the battery bank to 400 watts of LifePo4 batteries I felt is was also time for an RV Solar Upgrade project that would give us more solar power.
I thought this would as simple as just adding another panel, it was not! The OEM system had 1 100 watt panel and a 10 AMP solar charge controller. I was told by the dealer that it was rated for up to 200 watts so it only made sense to me to just install a 200 watt panel and unplug the little OEM panel. That did not work. So my little project turned into a fairly major solar upgrade project. All this in hope of having more solar power in our Thor Magnitude.
In the process of this solar upgrade project I ended up doing some carpentry and trim work, discovered a huge hole, added a new charge controller and sweating out several pounds. That is what happens when you become obsessed with more solar power for your Motor Home!
Join me on this RV solar Upgrade Project as I strive to have more solar power!
