Hey guys, Sean with American Window Concepts.
Today I wanna talk about something
that I've heard a lot from customers.
Hey, are you gonna use a subcontractor
or do you have your own employees?
Let's talk a lot about this.
I may have said in the past, you know,
to watch out for companies that do subcontracting work,
things like that.
That doesn't always mean it's a bad thing.
So let's talk a little bit about myself,
the business that I've created, American Window Concepts.
We have our own employees here in Ventura, California.
And anywhere in this general area,
you're gonna have our in-house employees
going to your house, installing your windows,
huge quality control over that.
I'm able to easily go and take a look
and make sure that they're doing the right steps,
doing all the things that they need to do
that I've taught them.
So that way the customer experience is always fantastic.
With a subcontractor, I technically am a subcontractor.
I'm a C-17 glazer who just so happens
to have a window business.
Now, if I wanna just stop this and say, you know what?
I'm too busy.
I don't wanna be so busy with busy work.
I wanna just install.
That's all I wanna do and just run my own crew.
Okay, great, I can do that.
And I can go work for the different window salespeople
all over the place and say, hey, listen,
I just wanna install your jobs
because I don't wanna deal with the sales aspect.
I don't wanna deal with the quality control
after the fact aspect.
I don't wanna deal with any of that.
They say, okay, well, perfect.
Does that mean that all of a sudden
my work's gonna go into the toilet or something?
No, it's still gonna be amazing
because I take a lot of pride in what I do.
There's a lot of subcontractors out there
who feel the same way I do.
They take a lot of pride in what they do.
If you have people saying, oh, subcontractors,
that's just a no-go, you should never have that.
If you've ever thought that I've said that in the past,
I wanna make this clear.
Not all subcontractors are bad.
There's a lot of them that are really, really great.
All you have to do is ask, can you show me some
before and after work that he has done?
Or maybe you wanna meet him yourself.
So before you sign the paperwork,
you already know what your windows are gonna look like,
what style, what type, all the things,
the bells and whistles that you want in your windows.
Now you just wanna meet the guy and his crew,
or just the guy mainly, who's gonna do the installation.
Have him walk the job.
I do that with my Long Beach location.
I have a guy out there, he's a great, great C-17.
They'll say, hey, do you subcontract
or do you have your own employees?
I'll say, in this case, in Long Beach,
as of right now, we will sub the work out.
But I vetted the guy who's gonna do it,
and he's got six guys of his own,
and he does fantastic work.
The stigma of a subcontractor being bad,
I'm a subcontractor, am I bad?
No way.
If you have any questions about this or any comments,
maybe something that you've dealt with in the past,
put it in the comments section.
Let others see it.
All right, guys, hopefully this answers any questions
regarding subcontracting.
It's okay to have a subcontractor, but vet him.
That's all.
Make it a great day.
