Enchanted by the allure of a remarkable fee, Dvořák embarked on his venture to New York. From his abode overlooking the resplendent Stuyvesant Park, he seemed to spend his days in wistful longing, seldom venturing outside except when bound by contractual obligations. Every opportunity he seized to immerse himself in memories of home, particularly during the summertime when he sought solace among the Czech community in Spillville, Iowa.

When he unveiled this opus at Carnegie Hall in 1893, critics found themselves divided. Some saw it as an all-American symphony, as Dvořák had promised, while others recognized it as a continuation of his cherished musical style.

Because of its many merits, it is undoubtedly still one of the most popular symphonies of all time.
