Sunflower oil supplies in Spain have been slashed by the invasion of Ukraine leading some supermarkets to limit sales to five liters per person. With limited supply, prices have also surged taking their toll on consumers and businesses.
西班牙從烏克蘭進口的葵花籽油，因烏克蘭遭入侵而大幅減少，導致一些超市限制每人只能購買5升。由於供應有限，價格也飆升，對消費者和企業造成了影響。

The owner of a churros shop expresses his concern that the rising prices mean his business is no longer profitable.
一家西班牙油條店的老闆表示，價格上漲意味著他的生意不再盈利。

"A year ago we used to buy oil at 0.80 cents (euro) per liter and now it is 2.60 euros per liter, it has increased more than 300 percent. This (war) was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Everything has been rising. Flour, oil, but now it means that the business is no longer profitable," Javier Alvarez said.
自助餐廳老闆 JAVIER ALVAREZ：「一年前，我們以每升 80分(歐元)的價格買油，現在是每升2.60歐元，增加了300%以上。這(戰爭)是壓垮駱駝的那根稻草，所有東西都在漲，麵粉、油，但現在這意味著生意不再有盈利。」

Sunflower oil from Ukraine represents around 40% - or 400,000 tonnes - of the total Spain imports to supplement the 300,000 tonnes it produces in the country.
來自烏克蘭的葵花籽油約佔西班牙進口總量的 40%（即40萬噸），以補充其在西班牙生產的30萬噸。

The crisis, however, also is an opportunity for producers of one of the nation's best-known exports: olive oil.

Spain produces more olive oil than it consumes and exports a third of its production of virgin and refined oils.

However, some restaurateurs and manufacturers of processed foods, fish canneries, and bakeries, don't agree that the two oils are interchangeable.

The co-owner of a bakery said that rather than using olive oil, he was swallowing the cost of sunflower oil rising from 1.20 euros to 2.60 euros per liter over four days to ensure the quality.

"It is true that in Spain what we have most and are most famous for is olive oil, but the reality is that it's not suitable for baking because of its aggressive flavor," Jacobo Moreno said.

The sweets industry is looking at using other vegetable oils like corn or coconut. During this tough period, the Spanish government has been proactive in talking up olive oil as a solution for shortages. Spain also hopes to sell more olive oil to its neighbors such as France and Germany.
甜點行業正在考慮使用其他植物油，如玉米油和椰子油。在這個困難時期，西班牙政府一直在積極推廣橄欖油作為短缺的解決方案。西班牙還希望向法國和德國等鄰國出售更多橄欖油。
