Liaucous is a small nedieval village with narrow streets, cobbled streets and its Romanesque church of Saint-Sauveur, listed as a historical monument since 1930. It was built in the 12th century, and two side chapels were added to the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. In 1834, the commune of Liaucous merged with Mostuéjouls.

Originally, the Saint-Sauveur church and the castle were juxtaposed. A room on the first floor of the castle was to be above the first bay of the nave. The demolition of the castle in the 17th century left the church isolated. The building has a nave with two bays flanked by side aisles, a kind of front nave and a choir which precedes a three-sided apse. The aisles ended in apsidioles which were demolished during the construction of the two chapels, that of the south in the 16th century, that to the north in the 19th. All around, an arch connects the buttresses to each other, a kind of lateral belt. The bell tower is covered by an ovoid cupola.

This picturesque village best known for its start of the 'Via Ferrata', a famous trek among climbers looking for thrills, but not referenced as a tourist village!!! Frankly, this small village is worth the detour! With its cobbled streets, its breathtaking view, its space in a dominant hilltop position, the vultures passing over your head... Let's Discover Liaucous, a small village of character, medieval village at the gates of the Gorges du Tarn.
