Foroglio is a captivating village nestled within the picturesque Bavona Valley in the region of Ticino, Switzerland. It is a place you’ve probably seen on Instagram more than once. The area is very scenic and popular, and it’s not hard to see why. Foroglio is located in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in the Val Bavona or Bavona Valley. This little village sits on the valley floor beneath the walls of what is one of the rockiest and steepest valleys in the area, and maybe in Switzerland. The Bavona Valley is actually a part of the larger Maggia Valley.

The valley is also among the steepest and rockiest in the entire Alpine region. It features simple, stone houses called Rustici, plus an amazing waterfall as a backdrop. The waterfall is one of the most beautiful in Switzerland and can be seen from afar. The village is also home to a 17th-century church that has been beautifully preserved1.

Foroglio is a small village away from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities and towns of Ticino, such as Lugano, Bellinzona, and Locarno. The beauty of this place comes from its peace and quiet, which allows you to slow down and enjoy it all. While it is becoming more and more popular over time, the site is rather secluded and would take time for a tourist to reach. It is not one of the first stops for tourists.

If you are looking for an escape from city life or just want to experience something different, Foroglio might be just what you need. You can hike through the valley or take a bus or car to reach this beautiful village. There are also many things to do in Foroglio such as checking out the Foroglio Waterfall. The best time to visit Foroglio is between May and September. During this time, the weather is mild and the waterfall is at its most impressive. The hike to the Foroglio waterfall isn’t more than 10–15 minutes long.

😊 Some things you can do there are:
1) Stroll around the village and admire its architecture and views.
2) Hike to the Foroglio waterfall, which is 80 meters high and surrounded by nature.
3) Hike up to Val Calnegia, a valley with more waterfalls, bridges and alpine meadows.
4) You can also enjoy some local food at the Osteria Efra, a restaurant near the waterfall.
